Omar Larentis
I am Omar Larentis, a fellow researcher at Insubria University, where I coordinate the Research Center in Osteoarchaeology and Paleopathology. Since 2021, I have held the position of Contract Professor of Anthropology and Demo-Ethno-Anthropological Sciences at Insubria University.
Throughout my career, I have focused on studying human remains, including both cremated and inhumed individuals, spanning from the Neolithic to the Modern Age. My research primarily revolves around investigating pathologies related to early childhood and infectious diseases. Additionally, I coordinate various research projects on the practice of mummification in northern Italy, specifically from the Low Middle Ages to the Modern Age. These projects involve collaboration with researchers from other prominent Italian universities, such as Politecnico di Milano and the University of Genoa. I have also conducted research and teaching activities in collaboration with Milan Polytechnic and the Eastern Desert Research Centre in Eritrea.
In addition to my academic pursuits, I have actively engaged in technical and professional activities with regional, national, and international organizations. I am honored to hold the position of Managing Editor for two esteemed publications, Medicina Historica and the Journal of Bioarchaeological Research.
