The objectives of the study is to establish some cases of police brutality in Nigeria; to investigate the causes of police brutality and violation of human rights in Nigeria; to ascertain the implications of police brutality in Nigeria and to recommend ways to prevent police violence in Nigeria. To be able to achieve these objectives, four research questions were raised, such as, are there testimonies and evidences of human rights violation in Nigeria by the police? What are the causes of police brutality and violation of human rights in Nigeria? What are the implications of police brutality in Nigeria? How can police brutality and violation of human rights be prevented in Nigeria? The research reveals that police brutality in Nigeria has led to loss of lives, torture of detainees and extortion of suspects. Some of the recommendations are; The Nigerian police commission should strictly investigate and sanction erring officers, there should be a proper police reform, men of the Nigerian police should be subjected to a thorough mental examination before engaging them to service etc.

Evaluating the Efficacy of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) in Mitigating Secur... more Evaluating the Efficacy of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) in Mitigating Security Threats in Nigeria explores the efforts by the Nigerian government to combat security threats, including banditry and kidnapping, existing measures have fallen short of achieving desired outcomes. In response, the government introduced the National Identify Management Commission (NIMC) to boast security efforts. This paper examines the efficacy of NIMC in mitigating security threats in Nigeria. This study employs a qualitative approach. Qualitative analysis involves examining the coordination among security agencies, network providers, and government entities responsible for managing NIMC. Preliminary findings indicate significant challenges in leveraging NIMC data to address security threats effectively. Despite extensive data collection efforts by various government agencies, there appears to be a lack of synergy in utilizing this data for security purposes. The paper identifies gaps in coordination and implementation that hinder the effectiveness of NIMC in mitigating security threats. This paper contributes to the discourse on enhancing security measures in Nigeria by evaluating the role of NIMC in addressing security challenges. By identifying shortcomings in coordination and utilization of NIMC data, it offers insights for policymakers and stakeholders to improve the system's effectiveness. The findings underscore the importance of fostering collaboration among security agencies and optimizing the use of technology to enhance national security.
