It was obvious that inadequate fund provision, lack of efficient maintenance department and poor quality manpower required to embark on repairs have contributed to the decay of assets, social overheads and infrastructure. Besides, the attitudes of the government that embarks on public goods provision but does not care so much for the quality of investment projects and ensuring living up to their life span gradually lead to deplorable infrastructure. The situation has resulted to the decline of developmental intention. On the basis of the obvious non maintenance culture, the authors articulated ways changes could be made, which includes, among others that in the award of contracts, there is the nee...

This is probably due to the unique role the woman plays in society. The changing economic demands coupled with the gradual erosion of social stratification have pushed the woman into roles she hitherto was exempted from. Today, she must work to attain and sustain a justifiable social ranking as well as play her roles as mother, wife and in some cases the sister bearing the economic burdens of her siblings. To understand her challenges, therefore, this study examines the relationship between being a woman entrepreneur and the gender-centric roles imposed on her by the society. Data for the study was gathered through a ten-question structured interview instrument administered on 172 women entrepreneurs across four of the six states that make up South-Western Nigeria. The sample was arrived at through clustered randomization as most women-owned businesses are usually found in clusters ...

Using survey method, 230 out of 572 randomly selected respondents across three universities in Osun state participated in the study. With a 10-item instrument, the respondents were gauged on their perception of their favorite fast food spot within the campuses and their willingness or otherwise to support their growth and continued existence through their patronage. 73% (168) of the respondents felt that their patronage will continue to aid the growth of their chosen fast food restaurant while 84% (193) believed that the enterprise may not survive without their patronage and that of their cohort. While most of the respondents prefer western styled fast food spot, there was a significant interest in traditional/local eateries. Overall, 89.56% (206) of the respondents were satisfied with the quality of service they received from their chosen fast ...

Data for the study was gathered through a three-paged structured questionnaire administered to a randomly selected group of staff of Fountain University, Osogbo. It was discovered that ICT has not only contributed to the extension of work roles beyond the work place but it has also created opportunities for cross roles transfer of responsibilities. Using regression analysis method, it was discovered that on a general level, rather than increase the pressure of work on the respondents, ICT ( s = 0.31745 ; p<0.05)significantly help maintain balance. However, the use of ICT for the purpose of working at home is negatively correlated (    R =-0.1144;        p<0.05) with the work-life balance perception of respondents. It was also discovered that using ICT to work while in transitis positiv...

It was discovered that ICT has not only contributed to the phenomenon of brain drain but it has also created avenues for repatriations of the gains accruable to the drain. Globalization and the internet has also made it possible for brains to be tapped at home without being drained from the local labour market through the processes of outsourcing and off-shoring of productive efforts by trans and multi-national organizations. This was aptly termed glocalization in this study. Using scenario network mapping (SNM), the study tries to define possible alternative futures for this opportunity. It was discovered that training and equipping the local labour force with ICT and globally relevant skills can assist developing nations in deriving maximum benefit from the burgeoning global labour market.

Data was collected by means of a questionnaire administered on the 378 sampled respondents in the study area with a total population of 25,000 customers. Area random sampling technique was used in the selection of sample subjects across the local government area. Descriptive statistics in the form of frequency and percentage was used to analyze the demographic data about the respondents. Inferential statistics in the form of multiple regressions was used to determine the effect of service quality on customer retention in MFBs. The findings of the study reveal that among the aspects of service quality, empathy has the highest effect on customer retention in MFBs. Based on the finding, it is recommended that the various Managements of the MFBs in the study area should pay much attention on aspects of empathy comprising individualized attention, show of care, show of respect, show of love and friendliness to customers by staff of the MFBs.

It considers the impact of ICT on the creation of budding infopreneurs sequel to the introduction of the Global System for Mobile (GSM) communication in the country. It was discovered that the introduction of GSM as a factor of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) opened up a vista of opportunities for youth empowerment and employment. Using exploratory methods, the study discovered that ICT has a major role to play in the development of start-up enterprises, most of which are novel creations in their own rights. These previously unheard of ventures created opportunities for addressing the yearnings for employment and job creation for the youth and they include such entrepreneurial ventures as the ubiquitous call centers and short-codes businesses. However, each new enterprise must transcend three local dimensional contexts to attain sustainability; ye, yan, yanju. Contexts parallelly aligned to enterprise conception, birth and persistence. It was also discovered that limiting factors such as poor access to financial assistance and poor marketing skill and orientation constitute challenges which any budding entrepreneur need to tackle to achieve sustainability of the established venture.

Methods: All accessible larval habitats were surveyed between May and September, 2011 in Osogbo metropolis while Land Use/ Land cover of the city was analyzed using 2 Lansat Multispectral Scanner satellite imagery of SPOT 1986 and LANDSAT TM 2009. Results: A total of six species namely, Aedes aegypti, Aedes albopictus, Aedes vittatus, Anopheles gambiae complex, Culex quinquefasciatus and Eretmapodite chrysogaster were encountered during the study. The occurrence and contribution of disused tyres was significantly higher (P<0.05) than the other habitats encountered, while there were no significant differences in the contribution of gutters/run-offs, septic tanks/ drums, ground pools/open drains and discarded containers to the breeding of mosquitoes (P>0.05). The accessible land use/ land covered of the study area between 1986 and 2009 showed that the wet land coverage and settlement area increased from 0.19 to 9.09 hectare and 1.00 to 2.01 hectare respectively while the forest area decreased from 60.18 to 50.14 hectare. Conclusion: The contribution of the habitats coupled with the increasing rate of flooded environment which could provide ample breeding sites for mosquitoes call for sustained environmental sanitation and management in Osogbo metropolis.

Using exploratory methods it was discovered, from existing works, that labour migrants have been influenced by climatic conditions, either of the home location of the migrants or the destination. It was also discovered that the role of climatic variation is a moderating factor in this free flow of labour skills and that it is also a major factor of the process of Globalization. With the aid of a Scenario Network Map (SNM) the study projected the future of labour mobility, given the increasing occurrence and severity of climatic upheavals across the world. Two paths of action were identified and the resultant alternatives were highlighted. The scenario map concludes with possible alternative outcomes for actions taken today.
