OMG that dress!
This dress is very similar to a dress in my paper doll set, all cut (not by me) directly out of 1920s fashion catalogs. I intend to dress Ruby in a variation of it at some point!

I imagine something like this when I picture Ruby's favorite handbag: beaded, short strap (they didn't have shoulder straps in the 20s), closing with a metal clasp. The Egyptian theme was very popular in the 1920s following the discovery of King Tut's tomb! Egyptian Odalisque Evening Bag, 1927 (Van Cleef & Arpel, Paris)
Paris in the 1920s: Changes in Society Lead to Changes in Fashion
This daring stunt reminds me of something Ruby would do. Madeleine Ginsburg, author of Paris Fashions: The Art Deco Style of the 1920s, states that “[b]y mid decade, in fashion terms the ideal new woman was a tomboy, a garconne, young, slim, athletic, short-haired and short-skirted, almost androgynous in appearance; a friend and an equal rather than a passive dependent”

Ruby to a T! "The 1920’s introduced to us the iconic flapper girl. Ladies traded in their floor length dresses for those with shorter hemlines, they bobbed their hair and topped it with a cloche hat. Girls dropped their waistline trying to create an illusion of a different body shape. Behind this quirky new trend were girls with a sense of adventure and love for new fashion- something different!"
