The Potters Shed • Pottery Classes in Adelaide on Instagram: "Definatelly my least favourite thing to make on the wheel! Why? Because its very easy to warp, crack, annoying to glaze and takes a lot of kiln space. Buuut... its very satisfying to eat using your own plates, so here we are. Making side plates for you! Here are a few extra tips: • definatelly use bats! It will be impossible to remove it from the wheel without distorting, if you dont. • use a sponge on your hand to keep the clay wet all the time. • careful with the thickness, plates are very easy to go too thin, if you dont have enough clay. • dry it slowly and try to have it upside down after trimming, so its an even dry. Have fun. ❤️🪴" How To Throw A Plate On The Wheel, Pottery On The Wheel, Pottery Turning, Potters Shed, Project School, Clay Videos, Thing To Make, Pottery Classes, Least Favorite

Cheri Downey | Ceramicist on Instagram: "Large Dinner Plate: Slab/Wheel Method ✨ Since I’m in the middle of a huge order, I thought I’d show you all the slab plate method again. It’s just so simple and fun! Some questions I’ve been getting: I get a lot of questions about drying to avoid warping. There isn’t really much to show you all. I usually will just add some weight if they start to warp around leather hard and that brings them back down. I’ve also noticed that the bottoms tend to flatten out in my glaze fire as long as the whole plate is fully on the kiln shelf. At leather hard, I just smoothen the bottoms and I don’t trim or add a foot. I like the bottom to be flat. This clay is Laguna #50, it will be speckled at the final result! #ceramics #pottery #potteryasmr #supportsm Ceramic Dinner Plates Handmade, Plate Clay, Throwing A Plate On The Wheel, Ceramic Plate Glaze Ideas, Throwing Plates On The Wheel, Pottery Plate Designs, Plate Ceramic, Pottery Bowl Designs, Ceramic Plate
