Storm at Sea Variation by Wendy Mathson. Stunning use of color gradient and color value contrast to turn the Storm at Sea into a completely different experience!
Perfect use of values versus color.....Value does all the work! Yvonne's gorgeous "Tower Bridge" quilt double the size!
I love the depth in this quilt. See how the light coloured leaves seem to be in the foreground and the brown and red leaves recede? This is a fabulous example of colour value at work.

This quilt is phenomenal. The 3D effect of the colour value contrast is so real its hard to get your head around the fact that it is really only millimetres thick!

Value Does the Work. This was the description on it when I found this pin, and it says it all! This is a great example of using colour value contrast... the grey scale makes it really obvious how this design works.
Math Monday 08-16-10 – National Museum of Mathematics
Very clever use of colour value contrast: The above quilt (38″ x 42″) shows the great ditrigonal icosidodecahedron, a nonconvex uniform polyhedron consisting of twenty triangles and twelve pentagons. Although it is perfectly flat, it has a very 3D effect because the pattern includes some shadows. From: http://momath.org/home/math-monday-08-16-10/
Blue Jean Quilt Log Cabin Stars - Etsy
Denim Blue Jean Quilt Log Cabin Stars. A really popular pin, its appeal is partly because the artist has nailed the placement of colour values. Lots of variation in a consistent structured format that is easy to look at.
