The sample of participants consisted of 98 female volleyball players aged 15.20 ± 1 years from six clubs in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Kinesthetic differentiation ability was determined by the overhead passing test, forearm passing test, float service with a net test, float service without a net test, and float service 6 m from the net test. To estimate test-retest reliability, a sub-sample of 13 players performed all tests on two testing occasions. Furthermore, the discriminative ability of the tests was determined by analyzing the performance between players of different playing positions and situational performances. Parameters of the intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) were excellent (0.87–0.78) in all tests except for the float service with the net test, whose reliability was good (0.66). For the ab...

A ... more Reaction speed represents a crucial ability to achieve a high-performance level in volleyball. A reliable computerized test for assessing reaction speed cannot simulate the dynamic environment of the volleyball game. Therefore, tests involving the activation of large muscle groups are needed. This study aimed to determine the reliability of young volleyball players' reaction speed ability using the Stopping the rolling ball test (SRB). Intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC), standard error of measurement (SEM) also expressed as a coefficient of variation (CV%), smallest worthwhile change (SWC), and minimal detectable change (MDC) were calculated. Paired t-test revealed no significant differences between test and re-test for first (t = -0.09, p = 0.92), mean of three (t = -0.37, p = 0.71), and best of three (t = -0.02, p = 0.98) trials. The ICC values showed poor relative reliability when the first trial was observed, while for the mean and best of three trials, reliability was...

To collect data, 35 matches played in two tournaments of senior men’s Croatian Club Championship in beach volleyball were analysed from video recordings. The quality of performance of technical and tactical elements was estimated on a scale from 1 (a mistake in performance) to 4 (ideal performance). Based on the collected data, coefficients of efficacy were calculated for the analysed phases of the game. The lowest coefficient values were found in efficacy of the service (2.21) and block (2.62) phases, and the highest in the phases of the setting for the spike (3.49) and serve reception (3.28). Situational efficacy of volleyball players was estimated based on team placemen...

Squat jump tests (SJ) were used on the examinees, as well as countermovement jump (CJ) and approach jump tests (AJ). Good metric characteristics of all tests have been established (reliability, sensitivity, homogeneity and validity). Both groups of examinees showed very little difference of jump height in the CMJ test, in relation to the SJ test (less than 1 cm). Inefficient transition from the eccentric to the concentric muscle action, as well as the usage of preparatory movements, even in the static position test (SJ), was the possible cause of these results. The differences of the results in AJ and CMJ tests are 6 cm in non-volleyball players and 11 cm in volleyball players. The volleyball players achieved significantly higher results in all tests in relation to the non-volleyball players, espec...

During periods of accelerated growth when training loads increases in accordance with competitions demands pain prevalence is strongly recommended. The investigation is conducted on the sample of 73 female dancers, age range 13-15, divided in two subsamples: thirty-seven international – elite (E) and thirty six national (N) Standard and Latin and Show dance female dancers. The aims of the present study were to: (1) define differences between groups based on their competition level, trainee internship and training intensity ; (2) analyze the proportions of pain status of 14 body regions for the adolescent dancers by monitoring their pain status using the SEFIP questionnaire (Miletic et al. 2009). According to the ANOVA results there were significant differences between two dance groups in: trainee internship, while E group has 5.52±1.28 and N group has 3.8±0.79 years of dancing exepriance and training i...

Dropping out of organized kinesiological engagement (sports, dance or recreational activity) in adolescence is very common, and it is assumed that it is not necessarily induced by an “objective” reason. The aim of this research was to establish the relations between motivation in physical education classes and dropping out of organized kinesiological engagement occurring in adolescence. The subject sample included 305 students of finishing grades from primary schools in Trogir, Kaštela and Solin. Variables of motivation in physical education classes as well as the frequency of organized kinesiological engagement of adolescents were measured by PEMS – Physical Education Motivation Scale (Milavić, Milić, Jurko, Grgantov, & Marić, 2013) and the adapted TEOSQ-PE questionnaire. There were no differences between male and female students regardi...
With the aim of analysing positional differences in somatotype characteristics, the Heath-Carter ... more With the aim of analysing positional differences in somatotype characteristics, the Heath-Carter method was used to calculate the somatotype of Croatian amateur senior soccer players (N=40). The goalkeepers (N=5) averagely fit the balanced endomorph category, the defenders (N=13) and the forwards (N=9) fit the endo-mesomorph category, whereas the midfielders (N=13) fit the central somatotype category. The subjects were classified into 11 out of the 13 possible somatotype categories. Dominance of the mesomorph somatotype component was noticed in 37% of the subjects, whereas the endomorph component dominated in 27% of the soccer players. By analysis of variance it was determined that the goalkeepers were taller than the midfielders and the forwards, the midfielders were significantly lighter than the defenders and the goalkeepers, and the defenders were more mesomorphic than the midfielders and the goalkeepers. In comparison to elite soccer players, amateur soccer players are less mesomorphic and more endomorphic.

The aim of this study was to determine the differences between the chosen situational parameters ... more The aim of this study was to determine the differences between the chosen situational parameters of bowling, which is a part of physical education classes for Croatian students. The subject sample consisted of 32 male and 38 female 1st and 2nd year students of professional studies at the Croatian College of Slavonski Brod. The variable sample included 5 tests of situational parameters in bowling: miss/blunder (MISS), full (FULL), cleaning (CLEA), combination/total (COMB) and speed of rolling the ball/release (ROLL). Statistically significant gender differentiation was determined by t-test for independent samples in the variables FULL, COMB and ROLL, which indicates that male students were somewhat more efficient in bowling than female students. It is the authors' assumption that the difference in efficiency is conditioned by gender differences in strength which is also manifested in the speed of the ball release.

By independent samples t-test, significant differences were found between selected and unselected female volleyball players in all variables assessing explosive power, while no significant differences were found between the groups in the agility test. The absence of significant differences in height and standing reach between the two groups of female volleyball players, and the fact that more efficient players were averagely 10 months older, indirectly indicates that not enough attention was paid to longitudinal dimensionality of the skeleton in the selection process. Premature specialization, as well as disregarding physiological maturity when assessi...

The tests took place two days in a row; beginning at 8 A.M. Prior to the tests, players warmed up and stretched for 20 minutes (13 minutes of running with and without the ball, 7 minutes of dynamic stretching). Inter positional differences were significant (p ≤ 0.05) between midfielders and defenders in all tests and in one test midfielders scored better than strikers. The fastest kicks were instep kicks when stationary and non-stationary ball was kicked. Shots were taken by midfielders with 106.94±7.07 and 101.61±7.88 km/h respectively. Similar to dominant leg, midfielders also achieved the fastest instep kicks with non-dominant leg (91.44±9.56 km/h). In...
