The thickness of TiO2 acting as а semiconductor plays a primary role in the transmission, photoconductive properties, and the efficiency of solar cells. This research advances an excellent method to obtain a promising conductive glass for solar cells fabrication through coating a simple commercial soda lime glass by a thin layer of TiO2. The product described shows higher efficiency than that of fluorine thin oxide glass which is currently used in solar cells. Its application is expected to overcome the high cost of solar cells.

The purpose of this research is to modify methyl orange be a complex compound Fe (II) -methyl ora... more The purpose of this research is to modify methyl orange be a complex compound Fe (II) -methyl orange and apply it as a light harvester on DSSC (Dye-Sensitized Solar Cell) technology. Titanium dioxide was used as a semiconductor and synthesized from tetrabuthylorthotitanate (TBOT). The wavelength spectra of Fe (II)-methyl orange was characterized by UV-Vis spectrophotometer and showed d-d transition at 420.50 nm and charge transfer at 262 nm. The interaction of metal-ligand bonding (Fe–N) was characterized by FTIR spectrophotometer and shown at wavenumber 316.33 cm−1. Fe(II)-methyl orange was a paramagnetic compound with magnetic moment 3.9 BM and ionic compound because of its conductivity higher than its solvent. The photovoltaic analysis confirmed that Fe(II)-methyl orange produced a current of 40 mA, a voltage of 0.38 V and an efficiency of 0.24%.

A research to obtain a dye sensitizer that is economical, safe, and produces a great value of DSSC efficiency is a challenge unresolved. On the other hand, the efforts for waste reduction are also intensively conducted to create better environment. In this paper, the variation of synthetic dye wastes from batik industries have been successfully applied as dye sensitizer and fabricated on DSSC cells. Congo red (1.0133%) yielded higher efficiency than rhodamine B (0.0126%), methyl orange (0.7560%), and naphthol blue black (0.0083%). The divergence of the efficiency of DSSC is very dependent upon the chromophore group owned by dye. This study has proven that the more chromophore group possessed by dye, the higher the efficiency of DSSC generated. This research concludes that the dye wastes have a bright future to be implemented as dye sensitizer on solar cells.
A series of Zn-Doped Magnesium Hydroxyfluoride, Mg1−xZnxFOH) samples with 0 to 0.15 of x were pre... more A series of Zn-Doped Magnesium Hydroxyfluoride, Mg1−xZnxFOH) samples with 0 to 0.15 of x were prepared using a sol–gel synthesis and dried with vacuum technique. XRD characterization of the samples indicated the amorphous phase of Mg1−xZnxFOH similarity with MgF2. The Zn doped in magnesium hydroxyfluoride did not affected on the basic structure of magnesium hydroxyfluoride. The FTIR spectra showed the samples had a broad band at 3000-3700 cm−1 and 1620 cm−1 was indicated of adsorbed H2O molecules and a bridging hydroxyl groups, respectively. The intensity of the 460, and 550 cm−1 bands correlates to Mg-F and Mg-O vibrations. The Zn-O stretching vibration of Zn-doped magnesium hydroxyfluoride appeared at 1634 and 621 cm−1.

The x values in these series were from 0 to 0,15. The samples structure was obtained as amorphous phase from XRD characterization. The XRD patterns showed any peaks like the mixing between magnesium fluoride (selllaite) and magnesium hydroxide (brucite). The IR spectra from FTIR characterization of Mg1-xNixFOH samples indicated the peaks of OH bridging at 3630-3000 cm-1 , Ni-OH vibration around 660-650 cm-1 Mg-O vibration around 550 cm-1 , and Mg-F vibration at 460 cm-1. Chitosan was synthesized from small crab shell using a chemical process involving deproteination, demineralization, depigmentation and deacetylation steps. Cellulose diacetate was synthesized from banana kepok using pulping, bleaching and acetylating steps. The production of composite membrane using inversion phase method by varying the concentration of cellulose diacetate 2%, 4%, 6%, 8% and 10%. The optimum mechanical properties of composite membranes were carried out with concentration variation of TiO2 0.1% 0.15%, 0.20%, 0.25% and 0.30%. M... more Glycerol acetylation with acetic acid using magnesium fluoride catalyst have been investigated. Magnesium fluoride catalyst was prepared by sol-gel method with ethanol as gelating agent. The glycerol acetylation produced monoacetylglyceride (MAG), diacetylglyceride (DAG) and triacetylglyceride (TAG). The catalytic reaction carried out by thermal methods reflux under ambient conditions. The influence of reaction conditions such as the reaction time on the product distribution was investigated. The optimum of glycerol conversion was achieved at 5 hours of reaction time by 78.34% with selectivity of 30, 62 and 8% for MAG, DAG and TAG respectively. The reaction route over magnesium fluorides was observed by product as reactants, gradually. The results showed that the acetylation reaction of glycerol occurs via a parallel route to the first, followed by the consecutive route to produce DAG and TAG.

Thus, people are required to look for alternative energy sources that are renewable and environmentally friendly. Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells (DSSC) is one of the promising sources to overcome those problems. In this research, a DSSC with naphthol blue-black (NBB) as dye sensitizer has been developed. In order to improve the performance of the DSSC, NBB was modified by inserting Fe to form Fe-NBB complex compound. Fe-NBB showed light harvesting characteristic through MLCT phenomenon (Metal to Ligand Charge Transfer) at 273 nm and metal-ligand bonding at 486.06 cm−1 and 316.33 cm−1. NBB and its derivatives (Fe-NBB) were applied as dye sensitizer in the DSSC. The obtained open circuit voltage, short circuit current, and efficiency for NBB were 0.218 V, 0.096 mA/cm2 and 0.0083 %, respectively. While, Fe-NBB were 0.363 V, 0.567 mA/cm2 and 0.0925%.

Dengue is a contagious disease caused by dengue virus and transmitted to humans by the bite of in... more Dengue is a contagious disease caused by dengue virus and transmitted to humans by the bite of infected Aedes aegypti mosquito. Imidazole and its derivatives are proven have ability impairing dengue virus. One of potential imodazole’s derivatives is 2,4,5-triphenylimidazole (TPI). The presence of metal to the 2,4,5-triphenylimidazole (TPI) structure through a complex compound formation highly contributes to their ability as an inhibtor dengue virus replication. Iron, cobalt and zinc were used as an ion center in the complex compound. Complex Zn-TPI and Fe-TPI showed low cytotoxic effect at all the evaluated concentrations (viability > 50%). Complex Co-TPI showed reduction of DENV-3 growth, at the lowest concentration (6.25 µg/ml) exhibited the antiviral activity (DENV-3 reduction 43%). For Fe-TPI and Zn-TPI, the reduction values of DENV-3 were 56% and 54.9% respectively.

Breast cancer is the second leading cause of death in Indonesia. The field of treatment with inorganic compounds has been widely developed and shows better anticancer activity than organic compounds. This research aims to know the toxicity level of copper(II)chloride dihydrate compound using MTT method (3-4,5-dimethyltiazole-2-yl)-2,5diphenyl-tetrazolium bromide} in vitro test of breast cancer cell T74D. Toxicity in copper(II)chloride dihydrate obtained IC50 value of 29.021 μg/ml. The value of IC50 obtained <100 μg/ml so that the copper(II)chloride dihydrate compound belongs to the category of medium toxicity compound (medium toxic). Copper is potentially toxic to cells because copper charge can cause cell inactivation directly between metal-protein interactions.

Dengue vaccine or antiviral has not yet been clinically approved for humans, even though there have been significant efforts toward this end. Antiviral activity against DENV is needed to develop to be an alternative drug for the DENV virus. Cobalt(II) chloride has been used in the treatment and prevention of diseases of humans since ancient times. This study aimed to investigate the antiviral effects and Cytotoxicity of Cobalt(II) chloride. This compound was further investigated for its inhibitory effect on the replication of DENV-1 in Vero cells. The antiviral activity and cytotoxic was measured by WST-1 assay. The IC50 value of the Cobalt(II) chloride for DENV-1 was 0.38 μg/ml. The cytotoxicity of Cobalt(II) chloride to Vero cell suggests that the CC50 value was 2.91 µg/ml. The results of this study demonstrate the anti-dengue serotype 1 inhibitory activity of Cobalt(II) chloride was highly toxic.

Synthesis of ZnO by solvothermal method has been conducted with controlled pH values. The variations of pH value were 10, 11 and 12 by adjusting NaOH content. Crystall structure of the synthesis products after heat treatment at 110oC and 600oC has characterised by X-ray Diffratometer (XRD). Crystallite size of ZnO was measured by Scherrer equation. Crystall phase of ZnO has been observed on all pH value variations at 110 oC with 22,98-37,06 nm of crystallite size, whereas ZnO has been observed on all pH value variations at 600 oC with 41,39-71,77 nm of crystallite size.Keywords: ZnO, pH values, crystallite size, solvothermal

Dengue fever is widespread in the tropic areas. It caused by rainfall, temperature and unplanned urbanization. According to the ministry of health , almost all provinces in Indonesia are endemic areas of dengue fever. In 2014, up to mid-December Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) patients in 34 provinces in Indonesia are 71,668 people and 641. This figure is lower than the previous year, 2013 with 112,511 people and 871 deaths . This disease consists of four types of serotypes, namely DENV-1, DENV-2, DENV-3, and DENV-4.
