Studied Fine Arts at Finch College, Social Science at The New School of Social Research, and Photography under Ken Heyman and George Tice at the International Center of
Photography, New York. Taught Photography at the National University of Costa Rica, San Jose in 1972-73. Presides the Portobelo Foundation, dedicated to cultural preservation, and
cofounded Taller Portobelo.

Sandra Eleta has been a freelance photographer for ARCHIVES in New York City since the 1970s and her images have been published in numerous magazines,
including Camera (Lucerne) and Aperture (New York).
