Metamorfismo de Rocas Pelíticas
Introduccin
Rocas pelticas son derivados de sedimentos ricos
en arcillas y son de particular importancia en los
estudios de metamorfismo porque desarrollan
una amplia gama de minerales distintos.
Lutitas y pizarras: son sedimentos clsticos
maduros de grano muy fino derivados de la
corteza continental.
Caractersticamente se acumulan en las partes
distales de una cua de sedimentos fuera de la
plataforma continental /pendiente.

Representacin de asociaciones
pelticas en diagrama de fases
Las reacciones en rs pelticas envuelven principalmente los
componentes SiO2, Al2O3, FeO, MgO, K2O, y H2O,
simplificando viene a ser conocido en el sistema KMFASH,
los demas componentes puede estar presente
significativamente, pero no desempean reacciones
importantes en el metamorfismo.
Eskola fue primero en representar las asociaciones
minerales metamrficas en diagramas de fases.
Diagrama triangular AKF, Al2O3, K2O, FeO+MgO como los
componentes de los vertices.
La proyeccin AFM de Thompson (1957), Al2O3-FeO-MgO
(AFM) del tetraedro Al2O3-K2O-FeO-MgO (AKFM).
