It really helps to mark the timing of “hold it” since it takes tons of practice to build up the duration of the command. Make sure to click BEFORE your dog drops the toy. Be patient! If you dog keeps drop the toy short of the click, back up a step and practice with you holding the toy for them, or with VERY short durations!
