Art Deco Interior Design

After the end of Art Nouveau in the early 1900s, Art Deco took over with its much more angular & geometric forms than the lithe shapes of Art Nouveau. In Art Deco spaces, woods are deeper in tone & richer, heavier fabrics are commonly used. Flooring & tiling follow geometric styles, such as chevron, diamond & checkerboard patterns. Ornaments are crafted from metals, including steel, as well as glass & highly polished ceramics. Surfaces are shiny, mirrored, metallic & minimally adorned.
