Comment. It's not difficult to find published reviews of their books. There's also some coverage of them (via an interview with their founder, but independently published) at [1]. I have no problem with a redirect, but why not simply recommend that rather than "speedy keep"? In any case, I would disagree that the above redirect target is obvious, when his bigger claim to fame is that he was Brian Bevan's father. J Mo 101 (talk) 11:25, 8 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Delete. Fails GNG, and notability not inherited. RLP gives the name as Eric Bevan, and a search for this gives only a few results on Trove, the most detailed on which, from 1950, just notes that Brian's father used to play and which teams he played for. I am not sure how useful a redirect to the list of players would be as there are only three other links to the article – on Brian Bevan, where the name is already preceded by a link to the club, the families list where he appears next to the link to Brian, and on the Richard Bevan dab page where his inclusion does not seem particularly relevant. The page has been written from a bias point of view. I have tried to correct it by

1. Attempting to remove information that is not proven (eg: the statement that said that the structure of the board is unclear, and the qualification process is unclear).

2. Reworded statements made from the APU (eg the statement about us leaving the ipf)

3. Included details about what SSA has recently done, including Kettlebell events.

4. Made a statement regarding its stance on drugs.

5. Remove irrelevant information about the position of World Drug Free Powerlifting Federation and being Signatory (it is irrelevant).

6. Noted that we were the 3rd nation that has left the IPF in recent years. USAPL and Powerlifting Australia being the other 2.

7. Added Strength Sports Australia's first competitions (it is now SSA, so very relevant)

8. Our international competitions are now with WDFPF, as it is now an SSA page, IPF is not our international body.

9. Only include world records if they are held while under APU or SSA.

Those changes are reasonable, and no biased.

Keep -- there are four sources fully cited in this article talking about her. They appear to be reliable, secondary, and independent sources; the two I've managed to access myself provide significant coverage and I assume the others do as well, particularly the news article in The West Australian with her name in it. That's three GNG-qualifying sources right there. Quoting, GNG is "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject." -- just because the sources in the article were not linked does not mean they do not exist. Whether a person seems "run-of-the-mill" is irrelevant as long as they pass GNG; and if you read the news articles which were cited in the article at the time of the nomination she does have a somewhat interesting style.

I would make this a strong keep if I could track down the URL for the West Australian article, but I can't currently. Probably searches are failing because the news source does not keep archives from 2001. Mrfoogles (talk) 07:22, 2 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Comment: Ref 2 is significant (partially interview based but with more than sufficient additional coverage); ref 4 is the same author in the same source a couple of months later with a cut down para about a live appearance, so I don't give that particular weight. There's basically a paragraph of review included at De Morgen[2] (the article covers releases from multiple bands/muso )- it looks like this is the same as ref 3 since it's the only mention of her in the archives. Ref 2 (GTranslated) suggests that she has had more success in France than elsewhere, however she has hardly any appearances on French sites currently. The West Australian smells like an interview and/or a festival appearance (Kulcha was WA's multicultural arts body), but would need someone with access to the archive to check. I can't see any other reviews around for her albums including via sampling archive snapshots of her website. In the absence of additional reviews -- particularly for her other work -- I think that a case can be made that her album Dive weakly meets WP:NALBUM (the Liberation and De Morgen articles, plus two of its songs were in the soundtrack for Pretty Things (2001 film)), that her albums other than Dive are clearly non-notable, and that she does not meet WP:NMUSICIAN. ^~Hydronium^~Hydroxide^~(Talk)~ 05:16, 9 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Comment This sculptor is represented in about 4 regional galleries and has public art commissions in about 14 city councils. She has been a finalist in at least three art awards. She has had solo as well as group exhibitions. Her work has been reviewed, not just passing mentions. She would be known in public art circles amongst people who commission public art and has some international recognition. As usual I don't think editors should check an Australian's notability by using only US sources or journal aggregators that are US or European-centric. I agree this artist is not nationally well-known, but I want to know what previous commenters are looking for in terms of notability. You have all seemed to use different sources or criteria, some of which may not be relevant. What do you want to see for her to pass your notability standard? Comment- LPascal we are looking at WP:GNG and WP:ARTIST. You can see that there are specific guidelines for creative professionals, as there is a line between doing one's job well and being notable. you say 4 regional galleries and has public art commissions in about 14 city councils. She has been a finalist in at least three art awards. If you would provide RS for those claims I think it would help the article. Ross' work does not appear to: (a) become a significant monument, (b) been a substantial part of a significant exhibition, (c) won significant critical attention, or (d) been represented within the permanent collections of several notable galleries or museums. --WomenArtistUpdates (talk) 16:19, 25 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Comment: I'm not wedded to keeping her article but I can possibly find references/reviews to her work in her artist's file in an art library next week. If these reviews/references show a body of work as per her CV would that get her over the line for WP:ARTIST.? You'd need to wait a week until I can get to her clippings file. - Comment::Ross is a sculptor, so that needs to be taken into account...an expensive creative endeavour and in Australia very hard to sell to major collectors other than public institutions, so her number of public art commissions — seventeen 1992–2019 — is high in the small Australian market for sculpture. I'll check the reviews of her work in major newspapers as listed in her CV https://marsgallery.com.au/usr/library/documents/main/artists/79/anne-ross-cv-24.pdf at MARS gallery, a major commercial gallery in Melbourne. They date back to 1991 and significant Aust. art critics address (Nelson, Lynn, Lancashire, Makin etc.) her work ('(c) won significant critical attention'). McClelland Sculpture Survey and Award (x3) and Moet & Chandon Touring Exhibtion are major events ('(b) been a substantial part of a significant exhibition'). Maitland Regional Gallery, Jewish Museum of Australia,in which Ross is represented are notable galleries and inclusion in The City of Melbourne collection is likewise notable. Keep: I have checked the Anne Ross ephemera file in the art library. Ephemera files contain newspaper clippings, exhibition invitations, CVs, catalogues etc relating to the artist. The files are useful to confirm exhibitions, the accuracy of an artist's CV and to find press reviews in journals and newspapers that are difficult to find online. I found enough ephemera and newspaper clippings to confirm that her CV is accurate (artists' CVs usually are) and that she has featured in the arts pages of The Canberra Times, The Age, Sydney Morning Herald. She appears in the Scheding Index of Australian Arts & Artists, https://artresearch.com.au/results/?criteria=anne+ross and The NAVA Who's Who of Australian Visual Artists. Her public art commissions (outdoor sculptures) are in the collections of 13 individual state/local/government organisations (Meets criteria (d) been represented within the permanent collections of several notable galleries or museums.) Her "inside" art is in the collections of at least 14 galleries. She has been shortlisted and shown in two prestigious sculpture awards: McClelland Sculpture Survey and Award, and The Woollahra Sculpture Prize. Because of her many public arts commissions and showings in sculpture exhibitions and awards, I think she also meets criteria 3. The person has created or played a major role in co-creating a significant or well-known work or collective body of work. ie her work is obviously well known in public art circles especially in regard to animal sculptures.LPascal (talk) 02:21, 7 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Keep: I'm intending to check hard copy of reviews in the State Library of Victoria artist files, but in the meantime have structured the article to include Anne Ross's recognition and standing and also inserted more references and links to exhibitions and public works. The volume and importance Ross's work and reviews of it by significant critics as Nelson, Lynn, Lancashire, Makin etc. cover the notability requirements on all counts. Oppose. There are multiple articles published in The Southland Times that describe the activities of the Fiordland Trails Trust over the past decade. I have listed a group of citations from The Southland Times on the article talk page Talk:Fiordland Trails Trust. Doesn't appear to meet WP:GNG. I found this article because Moleta redirects here and I wanted to determine whether it should be a disambiguation or if Moleta (kgosi) should be the main subject. Keep -- there are four sources fully cited in this article talking about her. They appear to be reliable, secondary, and independent sources; the two I've managed to access myself provide significant coverage and I assume the others do as well, particularly the news article in The West Australian with her name in it. That's three GNG-qualifying sources right there. Quoting, GNG is "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject." -- just because the sources in the article were not linked does not mean they do not exist. Whether a person seems "run-of-the-mill" is irrelevant as long as they pass GNG; and if you read the news articles which were cited in the article at the time of the nomination she does have a somewhat interesting style.

I would make this a strong keep if I could track down the URL for the West Australian article, but I can't currently. Probably searches are failing because the news source does not keep archives from 2001. Mrfoogles (talk) 07:22, 2 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Comment: Ref 2 is significant (partially interview based but with more than sufficient additional coverage); ref 4 is the same author in the same source a couple of months later with a cut down para about a live appearance, so I don't give that particular weight. There's basically a paragraph of review included at De Morgen[4] (the article covers releases from multiple bands/muso )- it looks like this is the same as ref 3 since it's the only mention of her in the archives. Ref 2 (GTranslated) suggests that she has had more success in France than elsewhere, however she has hardly any appearances on French sites currently. The West Australian smells like an interview and/or a festival appearance (Kulcha was WA's multicultural arts body), but would need someone with access to the archive to check. I can't see any other reviews around for her albums including via sampling archive snapshots of her website. In the absence of additional reviews -- particularly for her other work -- I think that a case can be made that her album Dive weakly meets WP:NALBUM (the Liberation and De Morgen articles, plus two of its songs were in the soundtrack for Pretty Things (2001 film)), that her albums other than Dive are clearly non-notable, and that she does not meet WP:NMUSICIAN. ^~Hydronium^~Hydroxide^~(Talk)~ 05:16, 9 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Rather than discussing PROD-nominees here, it is better to contribute to the talk page for the article nominated for deletion. If you agree with the proposed deletion, you don't have to do anything or you may second the nomination. If you think the article merits keeping, then remove the {{prod}} template and make an effort to improve the article so that it clearly meets the notability and verifiability criteria.

This isn't an official list kept by Oceania Athletics Association and appears to be full of original research. Plus, the tables are incomplete. Besides the senior ranks, World Athletics or continental governing bodies typically only keep an official U20 World Record list ("junior") and a U18 World Best list ("youth"). Having record lists that are incomplete and not official seems like a poor choice. I am not nominating the Europe U23 list and South America U23 list for deletion as these have official records kept by European Athletics Association and Atletismo Sudamericano. It's definitely a lot of work to put lists like this together, so I suggest that whoever made this article save a copy in the event this and the articles below get deleted. Keep the World list, it's officially maintained by Athletics Weekly here: "World Under 23 Best Performances" That list is outdated, but GBR Athletics was acquired by Athletics Weekly a few years ago and their records went under the AW paywall, so I think that's where the most recent list would be. World Athletics also makes references to "world under-23 bests" in their writing e.g. [5] [6] [7] [8] "Kirdyapkina, the wife of Sergey the reigning and two-time World 50km champion, was rewarded with a World U23 best", so I think they must maintain or reference some authoritative list otherwise it wouldn't make sense to refer to times that way. --Habst (talk) 21:41, 9 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
