- This page is for asking for, and receiving, help with Wikipedia. What help with Wikipedia do you want? -- Hoary (talk) 00:45, 25 July 2020 (UTC)
- The closest article that seems to be what OP is referring to is Euchre game variations, but the nature of the question seems better suited to the reference desk. —Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 17:18, 25 July 2020 (UTC)
I want to remove content
[edit]Sir/ Mam I editing on page of Mussolini but now I want to delete content . Please remove my content from wikipedia. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2409:4063:210D:63CA:0:0:2CA:A0B0 (talk) 02:46, 25 July 2020 (UTC)
- I don't know what you mean by "your content"; but if other editors of that article think that it's valuable then it will stay, and if they don't, then it will go.
- If you mean "Remove my content because it's mine and I assert my rights over it", then no. When you added it you were told "By publishing changes, you agree to the Terms of Use, and you irrevocably agree to release your contribution under the CC BY-SA 3.0 License and the GFDL." (Emphasis added.) -- Hoary (talk) 03:46, 25 July 2020 (UTC)
- If it's related to an username, there's WP:VANISH but an username will be required for copyright attribution nonetheless. WP:BLP for issues about biographies of living people. 84.250.17.211 (talk) 05:42, 25 July 2020 (UTC)
- IP editor: Which page were you editing? I see no recent contributions from an IP editor to Benito Mussolini, nor anything recent and relevant from any IP address near you (/44). Are you sure you edited on English Wikipedia? —[AlanM1 (talk)]— 07:52, 25 July 2020 (UTC)
Request for pictures or Irish landmarks or monuments
[edit]Hi,
Just looking around Wikipedia a request flashed up calling for images of Irish landmarks or monuments (I dont recall exact wording) and out of habit I clicked it away.
As we have recently emigrated to Ireland and my husband is a reasonable photographer, I thought it would be a great idea to tour the country a little and help wikipedia at the same time.
However, I cannot find more info anywhere... A link with which requests and technical specs would be appreciated.

- Hi User:89.204.226.164, that could be Wiki Loves Earth, which finishes on 30 July: http://wikimedia.ie/programme/wiki-loves-earth-2020/.
- There is also the annual Wiki Loves Monuments event (the 2019 edition ran in August and September): https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Wiki_Loves_Monuments_2019_in_Ireland, however Ireland is not listed for 2020: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Wiki_Loves_Monuments_2020/Participating_countries. TSventon (talk) 15:21, 25 July 2020 (UTC)
- Thanks for your efforts! Please do not feel constrained by these formal requests for pictures. If you are touring, please review the relevant Wikipedia articles for the areas you will visit (probably a good idea anyway) and if you think a new picture will improve an article, just go ahead and do it. I think that this will be especially helpful if there are descriptions in the article that do not adequately convey the actual visual feeling of an area. -Arch dude (talk) 17:35, 25 July 2020 (UTC)
Pages containing deleted articles but existing talk pages

Image of Painting upload.
[edit]Hi Folks. Would it be normal to upload an image of a painting, in this instance to put into this Red Orchestra (espionage) article, under a suitable rationale. I was thinking about this painting [1] by an artist, Carl Baumann (1941). It is quite a famous and related to the the folk that were part of it. I plan to do an article on it at some point. Would it survive if I uploaded it? Thanks. scope_creepTalk 12:43, 25 July 2020 (UTC)
- Not unless the owner of the rights to that painting, which is clearly under copyright, would be willing to license it under the rather broad licensing we require here; and that is incredibly unlikely, I fear. --Orange Mike | Talk 13:47, 25 July 2020 (UTC)
- Hi @Orangemike: It does detail a level of post world war 2 historical revision, in relation to the awareness of the Red Orchestra and how that awareness took on a new context after the cold war. I suppose I could also check to see if it is under public domain, or some other licence. scope_creepTalk 22:07, 25 July 2020 (UTC)
- None of that is going to rise to the level of importance that justifies a "fair use" claim. And the painting is FAR, FAR too recent to have fallen into the public domain. --Orange Mike | Talk 23:01, 25 July 2020 (UTC)
- @Orangemike: That is what is I thought. The man is a genuine artist, a quick perusal of his work will confirm that. It would be nice if it was on it, but no way can it be described as critical. There is plenty of text that describes that new awareness of what happened in the war and its reappraisal. I think it would a kind of visual add-on, which would have lessened the work somewhat. Thanks Orangemike. scope_creepTalk 12:57, 26 July 2020 (UTC)

Wanted to create a new Wikipedia article, Kindly guide me through every step in sequence, clearly
[edit]Dear Wiki-Team,
Wanted to create a new Wikipedia article, Kindly guide me through every step in sequence, clearly. About a famous Indian Scientist. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kanugala (talk • contribs) 13:54, 25 July 2020 (UTC)
- Kanugala, We have a process for that. Please go to WP:AFC, read the page, and scroll to the big blue button. Click that and a word of article creation and review by experienced reviewers opens up to you.
- References are fundamental to an article. Find your references first and build your draft article around what they say. When you woudl like your first review, submit for review.
- Don't be surprised if your first attempt is declined - pushed back to you for more work. You will be given reasons and be able to work on it more. It's an iterative process Fiddle Faddle 13:57, 25 July 2020 (UTC)
- Kanugala I would suggest that the first thing you do not be create an article. Succeeding at creating a new article is the absolute hardest task to perform on Wikipedia. New users are much more successful when they first spend time editing existing articles in areas that interest them, to get a feel for how Wikipedia operates and what is expected of article content. You may also wish to read Your First Article and use the new user tutorial. However, if you still want to attempt to create an article, you should do as suggested above; you will want to make sure this scientists meets the special Wikipedia definition of a notable scientist, and that you have independent reliable sources that give this person significant coverage(not press releases, brief mentions, routine announcements, etc.). 331dot (talk) 14:37, 25 July 2020 (UTC)
- Kanugala, I strongly support the advice provided by 331dot. Over 99% of attempts by a new editor to create a new article from scratch, without gaining experience first, end up as a failure. If you decided to take up running, would you start with a marathon? S Philbrick(Talk) 17:46, 25 July 2020 (UTC)

How to Make My First Wiki Article Appear Live .
[edit]Hello, am new to Wikipedia, i just write an article concerning a music artist and,i don't know how to submit it for review and take it live, can someone help me please — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gembosswiki (talk • contribs) 16:53, 25 July 2020 (UTC)
- @Gembosswiki: Hello, assuming this refers to Draft:Big Daddy Jayy, I have tidied the draft a little more in line with Wikipepdia's manual of style. However, it may still require some attention to wording and grammar. More importantly I do not think that the subject passes the notability guidelines in respect of musical topics; see WP:NMUSIC for more information. If you are able to develop the draft to comply with the guidelines then you can place
{{subst:submit}}
at the top of the markup and then click 'publish'. This will produce a review notice and will add the draft to the pending articles for review. The current wait can be up to eight weeks (or more) so please be patient. Good luck. How to add blog on Wikipedia with my website images?
[edit]My question is how to add any blog on Wikipedia with my website images i want to know about this problem. Please let me know about this. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ali20987 (talk • contribs) 19:27, 25 July 2020 (UTC)
- Most blogs do not even approach the level of notability sufficient to warrant an encyclopedia article. In addition, you have an obvious conflict of interest which makes you the worst possible person to write about your blog. We have no interest in permitting this project to be abused in order for you to commit promotion and marketing of your blog. --Orange Mike | Talk 19:58, 25 July 2020 (UTC)
Why does my article not appear in Google?
[edit]Good afternoon! I have already created some articles for wikipedia, but the latter is not indexed in Google. I made the required modifications but it still does not appear. I assume this is a wikipedia problem. Could someone help me? — Preceding unsigned comment added by LiebeZenPeace (talk • contribs) 22:02, 25 July 2020 (UTC)
- LiebeZenPeace. Hello and thank you for taking your time to make an article. As per WP:NOINDEX articles that are less than 90 days are not indexed until they are patrolled. If you wait someone should review it soon. (please mention me on reply; thanks!) --Emir of Wikipedia (talk) 22:07, 25 July 2020 (UTC)
- (edit conflict)Hi! Wikipedia blocks indexing until an article has been patrolled, or it has been live for some time (I believe it's 90 days). Patrolling doesn't take long, but it's done by actual people, and there's always quite a backlog. Be aware this is not a bug, and will be indexed by Google if it remains live after the review. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 22:09, 25 July 2020 (UTC)
- Thanks both! LiebeZenPeace (talk) 03:02, 26 July 2020 (UTC)
I want to put up an article where one has previously been deleted, which is now a redirect page. Is there anyone I can get approval from to do this?
[edit]Hi, and thanks for reading and trying to help me. I was reading the Talk Page of Glossary of professional wrestling terms and someone suggested that an article should be written on "ribbing" (the tradition of pranks being pulled on professional wrestlers by other wrestlers). This comment was written many years ago, but, when I saw there was no such article as Rib (professional wrestling), or more accurately that it redirects to a 9 word definition, I decided to write an article. I spent all afternoon ensuring it was good quality, that it read like an article instead of a list, and that it was well-cited. I'm not super experienced with making pages (actually, this'd be my first one!), so I didn't realize that, since there was an article with this title prior (the redirect was put in place in 2007. The person who made that change said the article was "cruft," so I can only assume mine would be much better), there would be a redirect page with explicit instructions not to remove it. Fine, I'M not going to remove it, but is there a way to propose that my article be published instead of the redirect? Do I need consensus from Glossary of professional wrestling terms's Talk Page? I posted there, but I don't know what the procedure is to get this changed or reconsidered. I appreciate any help! "Yes...It's Raining" 23:35, 25 July 2020 (UTC)
- That redirect was done by @Nikki311:, one of our most active editors in the realm of professional wrestling. I suggest you discuss it with them on their talk page. --Orange Mike | Talk 23:46, 25 July 2020 (UTC)
