Delete Relicense to non-free logo and add a fair use. I was just trying to figure out how to make a mass nomination for a number of these when I saw that Magog the Ogre got there before me. Felix QW (talk) 21:55, 12 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: delete. With only one non-free image usable for identification and File:Kata'ib Hezbollah logo.svg having an editor recommend relicense (see below), this image will be deleted instead of conversion to non-free use. Whpq (talk) 19:54, 22 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

One could probably keep either the flag or the logo as non-free use on the main article of the group, but should delete the other one and remove the remaining image from the many other pages on which these are currently displayed. Felix QW (talk) 20:54, 15 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

This one might be near the threshold of originality, but unfortunately we have no information on where the threshold lies in Iraqi law. Felix QW (talk) 21:05, 15 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
If we do not consider it to be free, we should delete it as File:Hashd Al-Sha'abi flag.svg is in use at the group's article instead of this version. Felix QW (talk) 17:41, 16 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
No opinion on this particular image. @Felix QW:, English Wikipedia follows the US threshold of originality, regardless of the image's country of origin. Wikiacc () 02:02, 17 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I know that we usually do, but I think that is because we follow US copyright law, with other countries' laws coming into play only through the URAA and therefore still require being copyrightable as such. To me this does not make sense in a case like this, when we extraordinarily decide to follow Iraqi coopyright law in its entirety because Iraq has not signed the Berne convention. In the US, this would likely be below the threshold of originality. However, according to Commons guidance the threshold of originality in Iran is very low, so we should probably delete this. Felix QW (talk) 17:33, 16 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Not exactly sure how to approach this one, but Commons recently kept c:File:Raising a flag over the Reichstag 2.jpg following a deletion request and a discussion at the Commons Village Pump for copyright. If we trust Commons' judgement here, this file is free. — Red-tailed hawk (nest) 18:24, 12 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Not exactly sure how to approach this one, but Commons recently kept c:File:Raising a flag over the Reichstag 2.jpg following a deletion request and a discussion at the Commons Village Pump for copyright. If we trust Commons' judgement here, the original photo is free, so this derivative work could be replaced with a newly created freely licensed file that shows a zoom-in on the two wristwatches. As such, if we trust Commons, this photo is replaceable and should be deleted. — Red-tailed hawk (nest) 18:28, 12 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

This book cover image is taken from a facsimile publisher and is used in the book's article as a depiction of the 1906 first edition cover. In that case it would be PD due to age. However, an actual first edition book can be seen here, with a very different cover. This puts the PD claim in doubt, and also makes the fair use questionable since the 1906 original would be a free alternative. Felix QW (talk) 21:41, 12 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
