Towelie the Towel, you are invited to the Teahouse!
Hi Towelie the Towel! Thanks for contributing to Wikipedia. Be our guest at the Teahouse! The Teahouse is a friendly space where new editors can ask questions about contributing to Wikipedia and get help from peers and experienced editors. I hope to see you there! A cheeseburger for you!
Thanks for your formatting edits to the Club for Growth! The coloration of the win/loss columns makes them much easier to read. Cheers! Safehaven86 (talk) 16:40, 7 October 2015 (UTC) |
Welcome!
Hi, Towelie the Towel. Welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Our intro page contains a lot of helpful material for new users—please check it out! If you need help, visit Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}}

November 2015
Hi there! Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.
When editing Wikipedia, there is a field labeled "Edit summary" below the main edit box. It looks like this:
Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)
I noticed your recent edit to Aleppo offensive (October 2015) does not have an edit summary. Please be sure to provide a summary of every edit you make, even if you write only the briefest of summaries. The summaries are very helpful to people browsing an article's history.
Edit summary content is visible in:
- User contributions
- Recent changes
- Watchlists
- Revision differences
- IRC channels
- Related changes
- New pages list and
- Article editing history
Please use the edit summary to explain your reasoning for the edit, or a summary of what the edit changes. Thanks! Gizmocorot (talk) 23:23, 2 November 2015 (UTC)
Disambiguation link notification for November 3
Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Equipment of the Ukrainian Ground Forces, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Floating Bridge (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Syrian Civil War article requests in main page
Hi, thanks for the new information you were intending to add to the infobox. I've added it now. Thanks also for all the other edits about the conflict. Take a look at how to use talk pages for requests and how to use templates. I will summarise it here, if you don't want to read so much:
- Please use the talk page (at Talk:Syrian Civil War) for similar requests next time, the same goes for any article and their respective talk pages. If there is no talk page available, you can create one for an article and put your request there. Discussions and comments should almost never go in the main article text (reasonable footnotes are fine).
- Putting requests in the edit summary as you did here is also acceptable.
- Secondly, if you would like to edit a template (which is what {{Syrian Civil War infobox}} was in that article), the place to do that is at Template:Syrian Civil War infobox. The same goes for any template, for example if you saw a template that was in the page as {{cite web|url=http://example.com}} (the stuff after the pipe character "|" is parameters), you can go to Template:cite web (notice how everything after the pipe character doesn't count there) and complete your edits there. Templates which are used a lot (like {{cite web}} and {{citation needed}}) are protected, as a change to it would affect a lot of pages where it is used, so maybe that's not a good example.
- Some infoboxes do not have their own templates (look at the article for United Kingdom, for example). I think the infobox for the civil war article was in its own template because it got too unwieldy to edit inside the article.
If you have any more requests for pages, or questions about editing Wikipedia, you can also contact me. You can reply to me here mentioning me like this: {{ping|BurritoBazooka}} (making sure your message ends with a signature) and I'll be notified. Or you can leave a message on my own talk page. Another way to seek help is through the Help:Contents page, which provides many avenues for assistance. --BurritoBazooka (talk) 01:18, 5 November 2015 (UTC)
Disambiguation link notification for December 4
Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Modern equipment of the Turkish Land Forces, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page PLS (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Abu Ruwayl
Today reliable source said that SAA captured the village of Abu Ruwayl.here but you map for 8 December(outdated) and acording to the rules of rditing we can't use all maps for edit. You must follow the rules of editing! Rules for editing the map:
1-A source, reliable for that specific edit, should be provided.
a) A well-known source that has a reputation for neutral (not biased) territorial control coverage, can be used (is deemed reliable) for all edits.
b) A well-known source that does not have a reputation for neutral (not biased) territorial control coverage, can be used (is deemed reliable) only for edits that are unfavorable to the side it prefers (favorable to the side it opposes).
c) A source that is not well-known (or that has proven inaccurate for all edits) cannot be used (is deemed unreliable) for any edit. This includes all maps (see item 2- next).
2-Copying from maps is strictly prohibited. Maps from mainstream media are approximate and therefore unreliable for any edit. Maps from amateur sources are below the standards of Wikipedia for any edit. They violate WP:RS and WP:CIRCULAR.
WP:RS: “Anyone can create a personal web page or publish their own book, and also claim to be an expert in a certain field. For that reason, self-published media, such as books, patents, newsletters, personal websites, open wikis, personal or group blogs, Internet forum postings, and tweets, are largely not acceptable as sources.” Source: Wikipedia:Verifiability#Self-published_sources
WP:CIRCULAR: “Do not use websites that mirror Wikipedia content or publications that rely on material from Wikipedia as sources.”
3-WP:POV pushing and intentional misinterpretation of sources will not be tolerated. If you are not sure about what the source is saying (or its reliability), post it on the talk page first so that it would be discussed. FoXrEpOrTeR (talk) 18:02, 12 December 2015 (UTC)
General sanctions notification
Please read this notification carefully, it contains important information about an administrative situation on Wikipedia. It does not imply any misconduct regarding your own contributions to date.
A community decision has authorised the use of general sanctions for pages related to the Syrian Civil War and the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant. The details of these sanctions are described here. All pages that are broadly related to these topics are subject to a one revert per twenty-four hours restriction, as described here.
General sanctions is a system of conduct regulation designed to minimise disruption in controversial topic areas. This means uninvolved administrators can impose sanctions for edits relating to these topics that do not adhere to the purpose of Wikipedia, our standards of behaviour, or relevant policies. Administrators may impose sanctions such as editing restrictions, bans, or blocks. An editor can only be sanctioned after he or she has been made aware that general sanctions are in effect. This notification is meant to inform you that sanctions are authorised in these topic areas, which you have been editing. It is only effective if it is logged here. Before continuing to edit pages in these topic areas, please familiarise yourself with the general sanctions system. Don't hesitate to contact me or another editor if you have any questions.
