Questions re: good article nomination
Hello TheNuggeteer, I saw that you nominated Piñon, Montrose County (probably soon to be retitled) for a Good article. I was wondering who gets credit for the good article if it passes? The reason I ask is that I did most of the work on it (77.4%) improving it and adding most of the content. Do you know how that works? Netherzone (talk) 13:29, 20 June 2024 (UTC)
- @Netherzone: You could rightly claim it as a GA you significantly contributed to should it go through. If TheNuggeteer does much of the work replying to comments made in the GAN, then they would also be able to claim credit. GAs and FAs are perfect embodiments of the Wikipedia ideal that any achievement is a shared one! I hope that it goes through and you can both count on me if you need any help (even an article I'm still wary on deserves to be the best it can be!). ~ Pbritti (talk) 14:04, 20 June 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you, @Pbritti, you are very kind. GA's are a total mystery to me. Shortly after I created Pueblo pottery several years ago, a couple editors said it could easily be a GA. The process was not formally started, but I do remember that I got intimidated by the pre-GA questions/issues on Talk:Pueblo pottery and gave up. While I like creating and editing articles, I have zero confidence in my writing ability (I'm a very visually-oriented person and struggle with writing.) I have to say, tho, that WP has helped me become a better writer! Netherzone (talk) 15:03, 20 June 2024 (UTC)
- @Pbritti I am new to the GA process, Can you explain to me how Netherzone Can claim it as an article he significantly contributed to? TheNuggeteer (talk) 04:56, 21 June 2024 (UTC)
- GA is an award an article receives, rather than an individual. If someone contributed significantly to a GA (particularly if they wrote most of the prose present at promotion), then that person can claim that they've helped with that GA even if they done shepherd the article through the nomination process. Netherzone wrote more than 2/3 of the Piñon article prose, so they'd definitely be able to claim a share of the credit. It’s a good thing to share credit and doesn't diminish anyone's contributions. ~ Pbritti (talk) 11:41, 21 June 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you! TheNuggeteer (talk) 11:45, 21 June 2024 (UTC)
- Greetings TheNuggeteer, we are both new to the GA process. However I have a few DYKs and shared credit on one DYK with another editor and it was a great experience! Wikipedia is a collaborative project.
- I want to further explain the reason for my inquiry, in visual terms. Here is a link to some pie charts that show our contributions: [1]. Scroll down to the Authorship pie chart: Netherzone 82.9%, TheNuggeteer 9.8%. The "Top 10 by added text" pie chart shows: Netherzone 77.4%, TheNuggeteer 15%. (The difference is due to the fact I also added several historical photographs). To further illustrate here is a link to the article when you submitted it to AfC: [2] and here is what it looked like after the improvements I made: [3]. Does that help?
- Thankfully Pbritti is experienced with GAs, so we have an expert to ask if we have questions about the GA process/procedure as it unfolds. As I (think) I understand, both you and I and any other interested editor can continue to improve the article as it moves through the GA review process towards quality improvement, but we cannot review it ourselves. Netherzone (talk) 15:30, 21 June 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you! TheNuggeteer (talk) 11:45, 21 June 2024 (UTC)

1918 Celebes Sea earthquake
Hi TheNuggeteer, thanks for your work on this earthquake article. It's been on my list to expand for a while, in fact pretty much since I created the stub. Your expansion gave me the push necessary to add more content. Cheers, Mikenorton (talk) 21:43, 28 June 2024 (UTC)

GA on Philippines at the 1924 Summer Olympics
Hey! Thanks for the GA on the article I worked on, just surprised that the review's so short. You sure there aren't any comments? Arconning (talk) 05:08, 1 July 2024 (UTC)
- Yeah, why? TheNuggeteer (talk) 05:19, 1 July 2024 (UTC)
- Just noticed that you've been promoting GA articles a lot today, like around three? Just a suggestion, next time you review an article just add some comments once in a while even if you believe that the article is ready as a GA. Arconning (talk) 05:24, 1 July 2024 (UTC)

Please see Wikipedia_talk:Good_article_nominations#Questionable_reviews. Arconning, just "add[ing] some comments" isn't really going to cut it and seems to mock the process. Drmies (talk) 12:12, 1 July 2024 (UTC)
- @Drmies Just tried to summarize it as short as possible as I was in a bit of a rush, my apologies. An article can be passed immediately without any changes but they should still have some sort of commentary that's substantial. I discussed this in the Discord server and a review that Epicgenius thought of was Talk:Surrogate's Courthouse/GA1, which would be better in this case. Arconning (talk) 12:21, 1 July 2024 (UTC)
About your recent GAN reviews
Hey TheNuggeteer, I'm one of the coordinators for the DCWC, in which you submitted a few GAN reviews earlier. Per the discussion above and at the GAN talk page, I will be declining your submissions for eligibility. I'm sorry to see that the start of the contest has been so rough on you! However, I don't think this should discourage you from future content reviews. I can see you've accumulated some good experience in the last couple of months in your capacities as an Articles for creation and new pages reviewer, and I can understand that the jump in time required for those and a GAN review can be challenging. While your reviews may not meet community expectations, I don't believe you were making them in bad faith, and you can take this opportunity to make use of available resources to improve your GAN reviewing. You may be interested in a GAN mentorship, where an experienced content reviewer will help guide you through the process. I'd also recommend going through some GAN reviews conducted by skilled reviewers and learning from their examples; one of them seems to already be linked above. I'm also happy to answer any other questions you have. Good luck, and I look forward to seeing more submissions from you in the DCWC in the future! —TechnoSquirrel69 (sigh) 21:48, 1 July 2024 (UTC)
2023 visit by Rodrigo Duterte to China moved to draftspace
Thanks for your contributions to 2023 visit by Rodrigo Duterte to China. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it needs more sources to establish notability. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.
Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. ~~ AirshipJungleman29 (talk) 05:14, 2 July 2024 (UTC)

Deletion discussion about Outline of Cebu
Hello TheNuggeteer, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.
While your contributions are appreciated, I wanted to let you know that I've started a discussion about whether an article that you created, Outline of Cebu, should be deleted, as I am not sure that it is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia in its current form. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Outline of Cebu.
Deletion discussions usually run for seven days and are not votes. Our guide about effectively contributing to such discussions is worth a read. The most common issue in these discussions is notability, but it's not the only aspect that may be discussed; read the nomination and any other comments carefully before you contribute to the discussion. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.
If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|TheLongTone}}
. And don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~
. Thanks!

Typhoon Ewiniar (2024)
Hi -- I've left a note at the Piñon, Colorado review about drive-by nominations, so I had a look at your other GA nominations to make sure it wasn't an issue there as well. For Typhoon Ewiniar (2024), you're a minor contributor; I think you need to post at the talk page and ask others if they think it's ready for GA and if anyone else wants to nominate. It's polite to agree among the active editors on the page who will actually nominate. If you prefer, you can just remove the nomination, or I can. Thanks. Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 17:24, 8 July 2024 (UTC)
- Hi again -- can you let me know what you want to do here? I don't want to just remove the nomination without hearing from you. Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 22:23, 9 July 2024 (UTC)
