Community ban violation
[edit]Tenebrae, per the banning policy, section WP:SBAN, you are "forbidden from making any edit, anywhere on Wikipedia, via any account or as an unregistered user, under any and all circumstances. The only exception is that editors with talk page access may appeal in accordance with the provisions [described at WP:UNBAN]."
Any further message that isn't such an appeal will lead to revocation of talk page access. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 17:40, 25 March 2021 (UTC)
- I neither support Tenebrae or their ban; I know nothing about Tenebrae. However I take exception to the claim that
"You are no longer a member of the community."
[1] This is not reflected in Banning policy, this is an insertion of a personal view that is not appropriate coming from the uninvolved admin who implements a ban. ~Swarm~ {sting} 01:56, 26 March 2021 (UTC)- I think the comment is actually supported by Wikipedia:Banning policy § Difference between bans and blocks (WP:BLOCKBANDIFF), in the "Still a member of the community?" row of the table, which states "No". — Newslinger talk 04:30, 26 March 2021 (UTC)
- Before implementing my very first CBAN, I have read through the banning policy multiple times to make sure I do everything correctly; even the block reason hopefully reflects a careful, extremely policy-based approach that even links to the justification for blocking a banned editor – something an experienced administrator might instead have done per common sense and known practice only. The description "no longer a member of the community" is inevitably unkind as it clarifies that there has been an expulsion from the community, but that is what has happened. This seems to have been unclear (not only to the banned editor, to my surprise) and required clarification. The community has thrown one of their members out; this is what a site-ban is. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 22:42, 26 March 2021 (UTC)

- Hahaha, I guess I never saw the need to look at that table. I've never seen a ban worded that way, and I thought you were just being unduly harsh. But that's what the policy says, and I was objectively wrong. Sorry, ToBeFree. Thanks for the clarification, Newslinger. ~Swarm~ {sting} 03:46, 27 March 2021 (UTC)
- You will be missed Tenebrae, hope you keep well. Seems like we are losing more and more editors by the day. I'm still optimistic that we can make this encyclopedia fulfil the vision of Larry Sanger and Jimmy Wales. Emir of Wikipedia (talk) 15:20, 28 March 2021 (UTC) (I am not watching this page, so please ping me if you want my attention.)
- This is terrible. I wish I had seen this earlier so I could have spoke on Tenebrae's behalf. He is absolutely one of the best editors that Wikipedia has to offer; extremely knowledgeable, professional, and courteous. Tenebrae's experience will surely be missed.--TriiipleThreat (talk) 13:04, 29 March 2021 (UTC)
- And, if you believe what Wikipediocracy has to say, Tenabrae is also a shameless self-promoter. I have no knowledge of its truth or falsehood, but you could read it and draw your own conclusions. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 21:28, 17 April 2021 (UTC)

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:SteveRoperMikeNomad Matera.jpg
[edit]Thank you for uploading File:SteveRoperMikeNomad Matera.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.
If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Whpq (talk) 14:01, 17 January 2023 (UTC)
