Notability and infobox

[edit]

Joecool2014, Your infobox is very good! You also made a good start on your notability statement. Three things: 1) Move data, like date, in the order most readers will expect it, which follows the template I gave you. 2) You can make wikilinks right away in the notability statement. You make the link on the first use and do not link on any use thereafter. 3) You've got the 1990s point of importance, but what about in terms of the overall "Drug War" violence in the United States since 1993 as it pertains to journalists? The next point of course is that you're going to have to place citations about the Cali involvement and whatever else you say. Good start, Crtew (talk) 04:45, 25 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Technically, assassination in Wikipedia implies a political motive and murder is for all others.Crtew (talk) 04:49, 25 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Manuel de Dios Unanue

[edit]

Hi, and thanks for the message. It wasn't easy to read because you indented it (put several spaces before the first word). Wikipedia doesn't like blank spaces before text at the start of paragraphs (don't ask me why!), so it put your message into a grey box with dotted lines around it and it hurtled off to the right of the page for a mile or two. I've removed the spaces and can now read it more easily. For comparison, you wrote:

I'm a student in Dr. Tew's class at USI. [etc.]

and I knocked off the spaces so it starts:

I'm a student in Dr. Tew's class at USI. [etc.]

Looking at User:Joecool2014/Manuel de Dios Unanue, I see that you've been doing the same thing there, so the first thing that you need to do is to edit the whole article. Click the Edit tab next to the View history tab (to the left of the Search box at top right), then scroll down to the editing box and get rid of all of those initial spaces at the start of sections, moving the text to the left margin, e.g.

Manuel de Dios Unanue was born.... rather than

Manuel de Dios Unanue was born ...

...and do the same for all the rest of the indented paragraphs. Then click the "Show Preview" button down below, and, hey presto (I hope!) your article will look a lot more intelligible, though I think that it would look better if the image under "Personal" is on the right - just change File:Manuel de Dios Uranue Triangle jeh.jpg|left|thumb [etc] so that it reads File:Manuel de Dios Uranue Triangle jeh.jpg|right|thumb [etc] and see how it looks by again pressing the Show Preview button. Click the Save Page button if/when it looks OK.

I'll get back to you on the Context section, etc. Best. --GuillaumeTell 17:20, 19 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

No need, as you seem to have worked out what to do, and the Context section has miraculously reappeared. Feel free to ask me about anything that's puzzling you. Meanwhile, the article already looks quite impressive. --GuillaumeTell 21:08, 19 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
P.S. Is Joecool a reference to Snoopy? And does 2014 indicate that you are currently aged -2? Just asking.

A bowl of strawberries for you!

Peer Review

[edit]

Mr. Joecool2014

Thank you for what constructive criticism you offered. I will take that and apply it to my article.

I will say I was offended at your approach and resent the statement about how "serious" I am taking the assignment. Seeing as the assignment is to review the article, it would have been best if you had left the review at the first paragraph where it was constructively criticizing the article.

The judgement you chose to add to your review was unnecessary, rude, and not appreciated.

Wikipedia Education Program: student survey!

[edit]

Hi! I work with the Wikipedia Education Program, and I'm hoping to get your feedback about your experience this semester! In order to help other students like you enjoy editing while contributing positively to Wikipedia, it would be very helpful to hear from real program students about their experience, so we know what to change. The survey takes no more than 10 minutes, and I'd really appreciate your response!

Thanks so much! JMathewson (WMF) (talk) 01:58, 18 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
