AfD nomination of Rolf Bae
[edit]I have nominated Rolf Bae, an article you created, for deletion. I do not feel that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Rolf Bae. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? -Lilac Soul (talk • contribs • count) 19:45, 6 August 2008 (UTC)
- Just wanted to encourage you to keep up the good work on the Rolf Bae article. I think you're engaging Wikipedia as it should be engaged. Think of deletion efforts as honest evaluations by other editors, and I'd say your improvements to the article are the appropriate response. Good job! --Quartermaster (talk) 00:04, 7 August 2008 (UTC)

John McCain archiving
[edit]Hello. Please don't forget to provide an edit summary, which wasn't included with your recent edit to Talk: John McCain. Thank you. -- Comandante {Talk} 20:55, 26 August 2008 (UTC)
- No problem. Just making sure protocols and whatnot are being followed. I didn't want the archive thing going away in case one of the users who actively edit the article didn't want to use an auto-archive (I've been a bit wary of them as well, since when I tried to use the same thing for my talk page, it kept taking the most recent comment on it and posting it repeatedly to the same archive). It might be a good idea to bring the archive suggestion up as I don't have the final say. Again, just erring on the side of caution. -- Comandante {Talk} 21:10, 26 August 2008 (UTC)
Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you recently tried to give a page a different title by copying its content and pasting it into another page with a different name. This is known as a "cut and paste move", and it is considered undesirable because it splits the page history which is needed for attribution and various other purposes. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.
In most cases, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page. This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other articles that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen. Thank you. Gaza conflict
[edit]No need to get personal and throw f-words around. If the bot is not able to keep the page accessible there is no rule preventing editors to create archives. The page is continously getting way too large (>200 kb, once even >500kb). This excludes users with no high speed connection from editing (or even reading). With the highest respect to the sensitive topic, threads become dead horses much earlier on high traffic sites than elsewhere. If you feel a discussion was archived that was not yet dead please extract this one from the archive, but don't do wholesale reverts. The large size already led to a situation where new threads are added on top instead of the bottom with the older stuff stuck in the middle of an unloadable mess. Linking dates
[edit]Please read MOS:UNLINKDATES, the one you referred to. It says "Linking: Dates (years, months, day and month, full dates) should not be linked, unless there is a reason to do so." --Skizzik talk 12:16, 19 February 2009 (UTC)
- That page is about Template:Persondata! Where do you see any rules or guidelines that one should link the birthdate (or any date that do not contribute to the readers' understanding of the topic)??? --Skizzik talk 12:29, 19 February 2009 (UTC)
- I will revert it a second time now, please provide a link that really support your agenda before adding it again. Thanks. --Skizzik talk 12:50, 19 February 2009 (UTC)
- Yes I know that rule and therefore I'll not revert it again after the second one, the only person who has already reverted it 3 times is You. And You have still not provided a link that back up your vision. Where in MoS do you se anything that backup linking birthdate?? How do you interpret "Linking: Dates (years, months, day and month, full dates) should not be linked, unless there is a reason to do so."??? Please answer, and you should have done that before reverting! --Skizzik talk 15:35, 19 February 2009 (UTC)
- Sigh... Why not reconsider your very personal interpretation of "unless there is a reason" before continuing making, I'd say, destructive edits. --Hapsala (talk) 15:44, 19 February 2009 (UTC)

- I just happened to be here by coincidence, and decided to give my opinion since I have been in this type of fights in the past. Per MOS:UNLINKDATES dates should not be linked "...unless there is a reason to do so...". My personal interpretation of this sentence is "... unless there is also a link back in the respective year and month-day articles ...". So if Carl Lundström is so notable that you can add a link to his article in 1960 and/or April 13 articles respectively, then a link on the dates of in his birth date is justified.
- The other valid reason that I can think of is explaining in the article of Carl Lundström why his birthdate is important (for example, "he was born a few days after the United States launches the first weather satellite, TIROS-1.") but obviously there should be a link between this fact and the person. Just my opinion to help to solve the situation.

Editing survey
[edit]Hi Hapsala. I posted this on your talk page as well. I am asking editors who have worked on 2008 South Ossetia war to fill out a brief survey. I noticed that you were very involved in editing the article and I was hoping to get your thoughts about your experience there. Thanks Mike Lyons (user: lyonspen)
Hi. My name is Mike Lyons and I am a doctoral student at Indiana University in the United States. I am conducting research on the writing and editing of high traffic current events articles on Wikipedia. I have noticed in the talk page archives at 2008 South Ossetia war that you have contributed to the editing or maintenance of the article. I was hoping you would agree to fill out a brief survey about your experience. This study aims to help expand our thinking about collaborative knowledge production. Believe me I share your likely disdain for surveys but your participation would be immensely helpful in making the study a success. A link to the survey is included below. An explanation of my project is included with the survey.

I have changed the section title back to the above. Please do not change it back. The reason is that there is not a reliable source that says he had an affair. I know he has all but confirmed it, but we need a very high quality reference saying that he had an affair before we say it in Wikipedia's voice as fact. [edit]Hello Hapsala! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. if you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 3 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}}

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
