Question about recent edit on my IP
[edit]Hey, I recently recieved a message that you removed an edit to Foxton's wiki page from my IP, although I never made this edit. Any idea how this happened and why am I getting this message about an edit I didn't make? 2.102.164.101 (talk) 22:41, 5 November 2019 (UTC)
A Question
[edit]Hello Glaisher, my name is Howicus. Aplolgies if this is a bit forward, but what inspired you to edit Wikipedia? I'm asking because I've been noticing a lot of editors like you recently, who create accounts and then start reverting a ton of vandalism by IPs. I was just wondering if there was some reason behind it, or if I'm just seeing patterns that were always there. Keep up the vandal fighting! Howicus (talk) 16:51, 16 May 2013 (UTC)

[edit]i'm going to revert your reversion. adding an infobox and isbn numbers to list of works is quite constructive. if you could be more specific as to what you thought was unconstructive, then we might have something to talk about. 198.24.31.118 (talk) 17:40, 16 May 2013 (UTC)

Your request for rollback
Hi Glaisher. After reviewing your request for rollback, I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:
- Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
- Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
- Rollback should never be used to edit war.
- If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
- Use common sense.
If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:New admin school/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Thank you for helping to reduce vandalism. Happy editing! -- Mentifisto 00:20, 3 June 2013 (UTC)

We noticed though that when you edited YONAS (hip-hop artist), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Pop (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). [edit]Hi Glaisher. Thank you for your work on patrolling new pages and tagging for speedy deletion. I'm just letting you know that I declined your deletion request for Ahmedabad Heart Hospital, a page that you tagged for speedy deletion, because the criterion you used or the reason you gave does not cover this kind of page. Please take a moment to look at the suggested tasks for patrollers and review the criteria for speedy deletion. Particularly, the section covering non-criteria. Such pages are best tagged with proposed deletion, proposed deletion for biographies of living persons, or sent to the appropriate deletion discussion. I declined it because the basic information was there, though well concealed. I tidied the article, but have put a PROD on it. It may or may not be notable Fiddle Faddle 10:35, 30 July 2013 (UTC)

Reg: KnowYourStar article deletion! == ==Speedy deletion nomination of KnowYourStar
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on KnowYourStar requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), web content or organised event, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. Anjali Reddy J (talk) 05:23, 5 August 2013 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of User talk:Ailsapan
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on User talk:Ailsapan, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.
CSD declined
[edit]Hi. Thank you for your vigilance. However, I'm just letting you know that I have declined your CSD on User talk:Creosma. We do not generally delete user talk pages. It is sufficient to simply remove any vandalism or spam, and warn the user if appropriate. Thanks. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 05:52, 31 August 2013 (UTC)
- @Kudpung. I remember tagging talk pages for deletion a lot and most of them are deleted . At least you could have blocked the user per {{Uw-softerblock}} or {{Uw-uhblock}}. --Glaisher [talk] 06:27, 31 August 2013 (UTC)
- Different admins have different ways of interpreting and/or implementing the policies and guidelines while some admins (regrettably) may not even be aware of all the 100s of guidelines and pmolicies. I cite a policy or a guideline when I do an action, give advice, or warn. Some admins are quicker than others on the block button - that's their freedom of choice, nothing here is graven in stone. I have that user on my watchlist and you can rest assured that if s/he breaches a policy again, I will most certainly take what I consider to be appropriate action. When you have gained a little more experience, you will appreciate these things. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 06:44, 31 August 2013 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: User:AlexanderBull
[edit]Hello Glaisher, and thanks for patrolling new pages! I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of User:AlexanderBull, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: It's just a new editor saying who they are. [edit]Please refrain from abusing warning or blocking templates, as you did to User talk:Banaster Giver Extra Polite. Doing so is a violation of Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Please use the user warnings sandbox for any tests you may want to do, or take a look at our introduction page to learn more about contributing to the encyclopedia. Wikipedia:Vandalism is quite clear: "Vandalism is any addition, removal, or change of content in a deliberate attempt to compromise the integrity of Wikipedia." and "Even if misguided, willfully against consensus, or disruptive, any good-faith effort to improve the encyclopedia is not vandalism." This is your only warning; if you continue to misuse vandalism warning templates, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. --Guy Macon (talk) 15:10, 9 November 2013 (UTC)

- Pharaoh, While I am sure that Glaisher is a fine human being and an outstanding Wikipedian (and I strongly suspect that he understood my good-natured nose tweaking above), the fact remains that he used a vandalism template in response to something that WP:VANDALISM specifically says is not vandalism, and he gave a final warning in a situation where an initial warning was appropriate. I agree that the barnstars are undesirable, but calling them vandalism when they clearly are not vandalism is not the answer. These are really minor issues not even worthy of a WP:TROUT, which is why I responded with the above "sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander" post. Lighten up, please. It's just a joke -- the kind of good-natured pseudocriticism that you often see among people who like and respect each other -- much like Template:Uw-dttr.
- Also, if you read WP:DTTR and WP:TTR, you will see that the arguments in the TTR essay are far more compelling than the arguments in the DTTR essay. I have yet to see anyone read them both and conclude that the arguments in DTTR are better. --Guy Macon (talk) 17:26, 9 November 2013 (UTC)

"Sexual Economy"
[edit]The sexual economy article is pretty obviously bunk, including sketchy sources. any mention of a 'sexual economy' is exclusively pulled from internet or internet-based sources, and no serious thinker has ever discussed or concieved of the idea. it is poorly thought out jargon for a small subset of an internet subgroup. no one links to the article and other complaints have been made about its' lack of varying, decent sources. why does it have a page? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.195.59.157 (talk) 15:17, 20 November 2013 (UTC)

OER inquiry
[edit]Hi Glaisher, I'm sending you this message because you're one of about 300 users who have recently edited an article in the umbrella category of open educational resources (OER) (or open education). In evaluating several projects we've been working on (e.g. the WIKISOO course and WikiProject Open), my colleague Pete Forsyth and I have wondered who chooses to edit OER-related articles and why. Regardless of whether you've taken the WIKISOO course yourself - and/or never even heard the term OER before - we'd be extremely grateful for your participation in this brief, anonymous survey before 27 April. No personal data is being collected. If you have any ideas or questions, please get in touch. My talk page awaits. Thanks for your support! - Sara FB (talk) 20:41, 23 April 2014 (UTC)

Please find that email, and follow those instructions. If you were not approved, did not recieve the email, or are having some other concern or question, please respond to this message at Wikipedia talk:JSTOR/Approved. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Cached outdated revisions served to logged-out users T141687
[edit]I thought you might like to know that I have just posted a reply to the thread linked to below. It mentions a screenshot I took of the Citizen Science article when not logged on which shows a tag that was removed by another editor at 17.11. The screenshot was at 21.45. I don't think the patch for T141687 has worked; for me at least. Regards, Richard Nowell (talk) 21:45, 31 July 2016 (UTC)

Survey Invite
[edit]I'm working on a study of political motivations and how they effect editing. I'd like to ask you to take a survey. The survey should take 5 minutes. Your survey responses will be kept private. Our project is documented at https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Research:Wikipedia_%2B_Politics.
I am asking you to participate in this study because you are a frequent editor of pages on Wikipedia that are of political interest. We would like to learn about your experiences in dealing with editors of different political orientations.
Sincere thanks for your help! Porteclefs (talk) 15:48, 16 June 2017 (UTC)

Thank you for all your work
[edit]Hi @Glaisher! I came across a phab task today which led me to a MassGlobalBlock gadget that you worked on. I was sad to see that you're no longer active. I remember you being very helpful when I was new here. Thanks for all your work. I wish you all the best. NKohli (WMF) (talk) 17:50, 25 November 2024 (UTC)
