You might be able to search for your interest areas using Google --- add 'site:wikipedia.org' without the apostrophes to limit the results.

The short answer is: Yes. Inline references to support the text of an article give source information and prove the text is not 'Original Research' (see WP:OR). External links are of limited use ... see WP:EL.

[edit]The Minor barnstar | |
I, Sarah, hereby award you, Fred, with the Minor Barnstar for your great efforts at de-orphaning articles, among other small but valuable tasks. Thanks so much and keep up the awesome work! Sarah (talk) 21:47, 2 April 2012 (UTC) |
De-orphaning and wikilinking
[edit]Hello Fred Pendleton. Thanks for your efforts at de-orphaning articles. However when doing so, please take care to ensure that articles that you are wikilinking do actually have a connection in real life. Things having the same name is not an assurance of this. For example, I have had to remove all the links you added in order to de-orphanise Abbott Street, as the article subjects have no real-life connection and the linking would merely have baffled readers. Thanks. PaleCloudedWhite (talk) 07:02, 10 May 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks for the help, PaleCloudedWhite. I should've taken into account that "Abbott Street" can point to a number of places. In any case, thanks for the feedback, and I won't make the same mistake again. Cheers! Fred.Pendleton (talk) 01:53, 18 May 2012 (UTC)
Referencing Articles
[edit]Please accept this invite to join the Unreferenced articles WikiProject, a WikiProject dedicated to decreasing the number of unreferenced articles on Wikipedia. As of December 2024 there are approximately 72,000 unreferenced articles on Wikipedia, so we need your help! Simply click here and sign your username to accept! Thanks! ~~~~ |
I've noticed you added a lot of references to articles recently besides de-orphaning them, so I thought you might like to join our wikiproject! Just one quick note: make sure your references are reliable and are not based off of Wikipedia. There are a lot of websites out there that copy articles from Wikipedia, but we can't cite those. That's why I had to remove your reference to James A.C. Brown because the Trueknowledge website cites Wikipedia as a source. Otherwise, keep up the good work! Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
