The articles about the other physicians made plausible assertions of notability above and beyond the CRCA. The article on Dr Gupta did not. • Lets take example of this page that has not been recommended for deletion: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Khaled_J._Saleh
• 3 references out of which first is a profile; and this page is staying. If listing down publications stand as good citations, then Sunjay Guptay had a link to more than 200. I did not paste it here since i my opinion, it should be clutter for wiki standards.
• His research, which has been published in newspapers, has also been neglected.
• I wold request that may be you go through that page again. That doc is a notable plastic surgeon; his previous page was deleted in 2006 i think for all good reason, but this one is quite alright - you may flag it for further improvement ....

To repeat -- you are welcome to create a fresh article on Dr Gupta, if you can do a better job than last time. Also, if you disagree with the existence of the article on Dr Saleh, you are free to start a deletion debate -- just follow the instructions at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion. However, I just compared the two articles (as an administrator, I can read deleted content). For Dr Saleh, there's various "researcher of the year" details and awards from legitimate societies; for Dr Gupta, there's the fake listing, and "he is part of this company, he is part of that company, he worked at this hospital, he worked at that hospital, he has been on this committee, he has been on that committee, he contributed to this textbook, he contributed to that textbook, he teaches here, he teaches there, and he got a medal when he graduated from high school". None of those statements are an assertion of notability. When I looked at all the articles of physicians who were swindled into paying to be on the List of Best Doctors, I initially thought that I would have to delete them all, but -- except for Dr Gupta -- they all made at least a plausible assertion of notability as per third parties. Dr Gupta's article did not. This is not a statement against Dr Gupta, it is a statement against that article. If you can write an article about Dr Gupta which plausibly makes assertions of notability without resorting to worthless scams like the Top Doctors in America lists, then good; Wikipedia is not a zero-sum game and we all benefit from the creation of worthwhile articles. If you can't, then perhaps that's an indication that -- despite his genuine skill as a surgeon -- Dr Gupta does not meet criteria for inclusion. DS (talk) 14:36, 9 September 2013 (UTC)

Deletion of Walford, Somerset

Deletion of what seemed to be a perfectly acceptable stub, merely because it was originally created by a sock puppet, seems a bit extreme. Why not just move the deleted content and set up a redirect if you think the place does not merit its own article? Usernames

Hey. You've done some good work, but I've got a quibble re: your username. It implies that this account is being used by "the society" ("North American Geographical Society"); that's not permitted. Any given Wikipedia account is only to be used by one single person, and cannot be shared with other members of the NorAmGeogSoc.

I politely ask that you post a request to have your username changed, so as to more clearly indicate that you are one single person.

I don't know the mechanism to reply to you, but will try here. The NoAmGeogSoc is a single person, me. There are no other members of the NoAmGeogSoc. There are also no other users or members of the extended title, the North American Geographical Society, except me. I'm it. So my Wikipedia account, NoAmGeogSoc is used only by me, "one single person", and will be used only by me. I have filed to preserve my exclusive use of the North American Geographical Society name in my home state, but there is no other same named group out there. Anywhere. If you search the internet for "North American Geographical Society" you get nothing. By the way, I am also The Montana Geographical Society. Just me. I am thinking of becoming the Wyoming Geographical Society, soon. Neither of these is a Wikipedia account.

This is an addendum. I still am not sure if I am communicating back to you.

In a more serious vein I have looked at the internet again and there is still nothing for "North American Geographical Society". It doesn't exist as an entity or even as a point of reference. I have also checked and my prior state filing for exclusive use of the name "North American Geographical Society" has expired, so it doesn't exist either. In fact there apparently is no North American Geographical Society. So I am back to the simple "NoAmGeogSoc" which is used only by a single user, and is indicative of nothing else at all. except my single user efforts on Wikipedia.

CSD

I just restored two articles you deleted, because speedy A7 doesn't apply to articles of their types: Firdaus Kharas: The Animated Activist. and Science of Science Tool (Sci2). I assume you intended to use A7, since the reason you gave was "notability not asserted" -- and that's not a speedy reason , because A7 reads "no indication of importance or significance" a deliberately much looser criterion. I'm not certain either is notable, but that's another matter. I'm wording on the SoS article, but the other is out of my field.

Myself, I find I am very liable to errors like these when I do deletions single-handed, so I just nominate & let another admin delete--except when something is so utterly promotional that I lose patience, which seems to be happening a lot lately. . DGG ( talk ) 05:14, 15 September 2013 (UTC)

As for non-free images, I never added them on any list (experimental or not) on purpose, I already told that to Werieth. If there is any non-free image which I added unintentionally (and I'm sure there are some of them), it must be removed according to WP policies. I'll try to be careful as much as I can when I add an image to a list, and you and all the other editors are free to remove it if its non-free. Deletion of Critics & Writers

You deleted this page at 00:01, on 21 September 2013.

In hindsight, I do understand that the page, as it stood, did not offer enough evidence of notability.

I don't know if the following could perhaps provide enough such evidence, so I thought I'd simply ask you what you think:

1. A blog comparing Critics & Writers with iDreamBooks (scroll down a bit to the entry ″ALL the book reviews, ALL the time!″, or just search the page for ″Critics″);

2. A republishing, on a different site, of an interview originally done at Critics & Writers;

3. Another republishing on a different site, of an interview originally done at Critics & Writers;

4. A blog entry describing the site. The author of the blog contributes to Critics & Writers, but that site operates by soliciting contribution from authors, critics, and qualified readers, so I think it is legitimate to include coverage of the site by them as independent evidence.

Sandbox Review

I was surprised to get a notice that you had reviewed one of my Sandboxes (which I call Whiteboards instead). It's just a place where I place useful links or other information I want to be handy so my User Page isn't all cluttered.
Were you checking to see whether the space was being misused? I know "WP isn't a webhost" but given that I've seen Editors with dozens of subpages (that aren't holding drafts of articles), I assumed there was a certain freedom to use them as notepads. I went through the enormously-backlogged list of newly-created pages and confirmed that your page was okay: not spam, not an attack page, not a copyright violation, not any of the other reasons for which I would delete someone's page without asking. Then I clicked "patrolled" to remove it from the list of "pages that have not yet been patrolled", and moved on to the next entry. That's all.

Hi there, Dragonfly. I see you were briefly active on the Hobby Lobby article last week, when a news-driven edit war occurred. I was contacted (and retained) by a PR firm working for the company, and I agreed to look at a complaint they had with the article. Having reviewed it, I think they are correct to be concerned about the Accusations of anti-Semitism section, which seems like a case of WP:SCANDAL-mongering with a WP:LABEL-ing issue to go with it. I've suggested an alternative version (on article Talk here), which I believe I should not add myself. Would you be willing to look at the issue and exercise your judgment? I'm not sure why after over a month of creating the page with no {{Proposed deletion}} tag warning and perfectly referenced material that the page To Inflict https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/To_Inflict was deleted by you for (notability not asserted). I all ready feel by writing this it is a more than uphill battle to simply make a case or talk to you man to man or man to woman. Experience has it disputing or any manner of discussion after deletion is met with negative results or that's how it just has gone with admins versus commoners on wikipedia, but I hope this one might be an exception and you hear me out please. Most importantly any substantive edit to this page should reflect consensus as a wikipedia goal for full deletion of this page or is it to attain a goal of displaying an article like this one. This article is notability asserted as a short film recognized as a prominent film festival selected film also with a front page newspaper article story written about it and clearly referenced. When in doubt, before deletion or notability in this case please discuss first on the talk page before destroying a half days written and referenced work on this topic. No doubt you went through the backlogged list of newly-created pages and confirmed that this page was not spam, nor a copyright violation, and not an attack page, or an opportunity to be a reason why this would be a case to delete someone's page without asking first. Please ask me some more questions about why we can un-delete the page or perhaps you can redeem the humanity in your decision to make this an occasional exception that may apply to include this article. I'm sure your a Good Guy Administrator... thanks for making Wikipedia a happier place and me a happy contributor. I appreciate your time in fully looking at this one again please. I noticed that you have reviewed one of my articles on the "Natural Law" and the other on the references to an article on the "Classical Definition of Republic". zdrakelcf/sandbox review

Hi, I noticed you reviewed my sandbox recently. I assume nothing was terribly glaring, but I would like to let you know that there is absolutely a COI here and I am working hard to submit the most encyclopedic page that I can. I made this account for the purpose of submitting this article, but I very much understand this is not in the spirit of Wiki and I have made a personal account (User:burnsdrake) where I am revising the sandbox you reviewed, from which I will submit the article for review formally.

I am also trying to contribute to the community as an individual- editing articles etc- as I very much value the Wiki project. I would love any input you might have as I edit and source this article-in-progress. My company prides itself on our senior advocacy efforts and we are the developer of an innovative new funding method for seniors which keeps them out of debt, allows them to choose the long term care of their choice, protects their Medicaid eligibility while at the very same time keeping seniors from getting on Medicaid prematurely (which is a big deal given our current US budgetary problems). We do utilize a life settlement, but we are fundamentally different and we are supported by legislation across the country. I feel this is very notable and that there should probably be links to this program on the life settlement and viatical Wiki pages, but I can suggest that on their respective talk pages when the time comes. Hi DragonflySixtyseven. The subject of this article was the democratic party nominee in 2012 for a seat in the House (losing to Rep. Bill Young) and is running again for a seat in the 2014 election cycle (currently at the Democratic primary stage). I believe there was an assertion of notability (or at least that there is one to be made) and that an AfD should be conducted if the article is to be deleted. Being a nominee for a major party in a national election certainly establishes some notability. There is quite a bit of coverage that usually goes along with that, including in Wikipedia articles on the elections. And this individual is getting coverage again this cycle [1]. If you move the article to my userspace I will work on it there before restoration. If not I will go take it to DRV. All of the candidates you deleted

I'm at something of a disadvantage here given that I can no longer view the candidates you deleted, so it's hard for me to remember exactly what made each of them notable.

In addition, I don't see how you can unilaterally decide to delete all of these pages, even as an administrator. As it states here: Wikipedia:Deletion guidelines for administrators: "Even admins should mostly use the Wikipedia:Proposed deletion, Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, and Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion pages when they think a page should be deleted". There was no libel or infringement of copyright so it's not as if there's a huge hurry to delete the pages. It would seem more proper to post a notice and gain consensus on the talk pages, or through the many other Wikipedia deletion processes. At the very least, it seems unfair that the community wasn't given a chance to "improve" the pages before you deleted them.

Anyway, I don't see where in the rules it says all the things you're saying. All I see under politicians is:

"Politicians and judges who have held international, national or sub-national (statewide/provincewide) office, and members or former members of a national, state or provincial legislature.[12] This also applies to those who have been elected to such offices but have not yet been sworn in. Major local political figures who have received significant press coverage.[7] Just being an elected local official, or an unelected candidate for political office, does not guarantee notability, although such people can still be notable if they meet the primary notability criterion of "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject of the article". In the case of candidates for political office who do not meet this guideline, the general rule is to redirect to an appropriate page covering the election or political office sought in lieu of deletion. Relevant material from the biographical article can be merged into the election or political office page if appropriate"

Nowhere in there does it say that there needs to be assertions of notability aside from their candidacy. More generally, the notability bar for Wikipedia indicates seems to "significant coverage from reliable sources." Nowhere do I see anything that would indicate that significant coverage of a candidate from reliable sources would not be enough to make them notable. Some of the candidates you deleted may not have had significant coverage from reliable sources, but Matt Bevin certainly did. In addition, Ann Callis is an Illinois judge, and would seem to fit the grounds of notability as a politician. Rocky Lara is a significant locally elected official. He may only be a "mere" congressional aide to you, but John Hugya was a major figure in Pennsylvania politics for decades as an aide to John Murtha. Gwen Graham, Erin Bilbray, and Kevin Strouse have all received major local and national coverage as top candidates. Again, you may have a point that notability was insufficiently asserted, but that isn't grounds to delete them with barely any notice.

Actions inconsistent with deletion policies

I believe your recent conduct has been incompatible with the expectations of administrator conduct, given the following facts:

• You used your administrator tools to delete multiple pages under CSD A7...
  • When the articles in question clearly did not qualify as A7...
    • Per the text of WP:CSD#A7 itself, which notes "The criterion does not apply to any article that makes any credible claim of significance or importance even if the claim is not supported by a reliable source or does not qualify on Wikipedia's notability guidelines." (emphasis in original)
    • Per the one DRV with multiple participants so far at Wikipedia:Deletion_review/Log/2013_October_23 which is, at the time I write this unanimous in finding that your deletion was against policy.
    • And when your answers here and here are stubbornly peppered with references to notability, which, per the above is never considered in A7 deletions.
  • When Wikipedia:Deletion guidelines for administrators clearly indicates that "Even admins should mostly use the Wikipedia:Proposed deletion, Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, and Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion pages when they think a page should be deleted."
  • When you've continued editing rather than admit your interpretation of CSD A7 is not correct and restore the articles after another admin politely asked you to do so.

Fundamentally, there's a reason that except in a very few and uncontroversial cases admins should speedy tag or speedy delete--but not both--and you've demonstrated that with quite a bit of panache. At best, you've created a borderline WP:FAIT situation by your use of the tools in line with what you think CSD-A7 says, rather than what it actually says, and then failed to understand why multiple good faith editors (which is remarkable in that only admins can see the still-deleted articles) and admins have found that your actions have no policy basis. Please do the right thing quickly--revert ALL your out-of-policy deletions, apologize for misunderstanding A7, commit to not doing it again--to keep this from escalating. I was trying to add Jin Jung Kwan Hapkido and also the founder, Kim Myung Yong, to Wikipedia and they were deleted. The style is big worldwide and Grandmaster Kim (Kim is his last name, in Korean culture you use last name first) has authored books and videos on Jin Jung Kwan Hapkido and self-defense. I realize I am biased as I am a Master of Jin Jung Kwan Hapkido and have trained with GM Kim at multiple seminars. I wondered if you were interested in writing an entry? GM Kim was one of the original students of founder Ji Han Jae and one of the original Masters of hapkido (in the picture of Masters of Hapkido in 1972) and has been training in hapkido since it was first called hapkido in 1959. Jin Jung Kwan was the demonstration team for the Korea Hapkido Federation for many years. There are smaller styles and lesser instructors on wikipedia.

Well, I've tried it out. The Commons upload process/form/wizard is awkward and not very helpful. The en.wiki Upload Wizard is tops. I prefer the latter and, frankly, what I can't understand is: Why do I fill in the form at en.wiki, and then clicking on "Upload to Commons", I get redirected to a different form to be filled in instead of using the already typed in info. The film was made by two 15 year-old that do not make money out of it, they just want everyone to remember the Holocaust thanks to their little film. I read the deleted content again (administrators have access to deleted content), and I'm very sorry, but the answer is still no. I completely understand that this was not made as a profit-seeking enterprise, but that's not the point. The point is that you did not make any statements about whether this short film made by two teenage girls had any notability. That they made this short documentary to honor those who died in Auschwitz is admirable, yes. But this was two teenage girls who made a 33-minute documentary by themselves, and posted it on Vimeo. Has the news media taken any notice of this movie? Has there been any independent third-party coverage of it? If yes, how was I supposed to know that? You didn't say anything about it. • Hello, I was asked to review this question and to give an independent opinion. The challenge here is that thousands of short films have been made about the Holocaust over the years, most of them not meeting the notability requirements. The specific requirements can be found at Wikipedia:Notability (films). I'd be looking for some type of reviews from professional film reviewers, a theatrical release or award-winning appearance at a significant film festival (one that has its own Wikipedia article), or something along those lines. Thank you for migrating my old image files to better names. I now use better names for images. I just loaded about 100 from the Library of Congress to Wiki Commons. I need some help, and perhaps can provide some. I'm a graduate of West View High School, the predecessor to North Hills High School. While poking around the latter article, I saw a bunch of egregious misstatements about the school's excellence (basically that it is #1 in everything; probably vandalism). Further poking led me to the subject user, who seems to be blocked, but I'm not 100% sure.

She seems not to understand much about Wikipedia, but to be interested in fixing the vandalism. I was surprised to see no mention of Nigel Slater's sexuality on his page, then noticed the Talk: discussion. I'd like to add a mention that explains the situation but, as you set the autoreview flag, I figured I should check with you as to whether or not it was adequately clarified.

I've added a paragraph, with careful citations, including to DS's Talk: edit (because I couldn't work out how to reference an OTRS ticket directly) but, if it's still not acceptable, please do just revert my edit (because I have autoconfirmed privileges, so it will already be live).

Dear Admin, and nice to meet you! I do have a few questions, however. Recently, I have noticed that my sandbox page and talk page were reviewed. From what I currently know of wikipedia (correct me if I am wrong!) is that one's talk page and sandbox shouldn't be taken seriously, and are not considered the encyclopedia aspect of wikipedia, merely used for discussion and testing, respectively. Thank you for your comments on Yucca desmetiana. I wanted to do something along the lines of what you suggest, but did not know how. Even now, I still do not know how to change the name of a page, as you suggest. I was able to create the second page with the revised spelling by going back to the generic Yucca page and changing the spelling there. Clicking on the revised link created the second page. Deletion of Mikaeel Kular

Hi, I'm aggrieved that you deleted this page because it is all over the UK news and I want to read an unbiased source with details. Perhaps it won't be news in a months time, if that is the case, which I doubt, then it would be appropriate to delete it at that time. When it was deleted, it was about a routine missing kid. Now that a body's been found and an arrest made, it may be more notable. It will definitely get more headlines, though headlines alone (especially for a week or less) don't make an event notable. There have to be multiple sources discussing it in-depth (rather than merely repeating the facts of the case from a newswire story, or mentioning it in passing).

I recommend waiting at least a week before trying again. This will give some time for perspective and for some facts to become clearer. When dealing with people accused of crimes, recentism and sensationalism often lead to major (well-intentioned) WP:BLP problems.

I have a question about your recent readdition to the above template. I do not know why that line was removed, but I do not understand why it is now necessary. Why does a file need to be renamed before moving to Commons? The template {{Rename media}} suggests moving the file to Commons (if suitable) as part of the renaming process. Obviously the mover would want to change all links to that file after the move since the name has changed. I definitely think there is relevance in ensuring the move to Commons has an appropriate name, but I don't understand why the file has to be moved locally first to then be transferred to Commons. If all is done correctly, what is the reasoning for that order? Could this readdition be replaced by something stating: When transferring, the Commons file should have a properly descriptive and unambiguous name and all local links to the file should be updated to the appropriate file name. I think I may not have explained very well, or you have missed a "possibility." Possibility 3: Rename image during move to Commons. The en.wp links would then need to be updated (as they should in any possibility, and then other links added as necessary. This is often what I do as a file mover when a request comes in for a free file that is in Common's scope. Kill two birds with one stone. Image is renamed appropriately and moved to Commons in one fell swoop. Then I go back and do all of the en.wp article updates that would be required regardless of when the image is renamed. -- ТимофейЛееСуда. 21:19, 21 January 2014 (UTC)

Is review page notifications part of Wikipedia base code or a part of your patrol widgets? How can it be updated to give more detailed information or direct us to a FAQ about why we received the patrol notification? Is this in suggested features? Where would editors suggest this change? Infoboxes are meant to summarize the most important bits of information about a person (though how effectively any individual one may do that will vary, of course), and I'm not sure that a grandson is so important that it warrants inclusion there.
