When (and where) was the decision to move this article to a section in the MIB article made? X is a major character in series two and three and if comparitively minor characters like Tooms merit individual articles then so does X.

Until someone links me to a page where the discussion to downgrade him to just another MIB, I'm restoring this article. WarmasterKron 22:56, 27 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Checklist

[edit]
Rate Attribute Review Comment
1. Well-written:
1a. the prose is clear, concise, and understandable to an appropriately broad audience; spelling and grammar are correct. See below
1b. it complies with the Manual of Style guidelines for lead sections, layout, words to watch, fiction, and list incorporation. Good
2. Verifiable with no original research:
2a. it contains a list of all references (sources of information), presented in accordance with the layout style guideline. Good formatting
2b. reliable sources are cited inline. All content that could reasonably be challenged, except for plot summaries and that which summarizes cited content elsewhere in the article, must be cited no later than the end of the paragraph (or line if the content is not in prose). See below
2c. it contains no original research. See spotcheck below
3. Broad in its coverage:
3a. it addresses the main aspects of the topic. Can't think of anything else
3b. it stays focused on the topic without going into unnecessary detail (see summary style). Not bad
4. Neutral: it represents viewpoints fairly and without editorial bias, giving due weight to each. Good
5. Stable: it does not change significantly from day to day because of an ongoing edit war or content dispute. Per definition
6. Illustrated, if possible, by media such as images, video, or audio:
6a. media are tagged with their copyright statuses, and valid non-free use rationales are provided for non-free content. One image, has adequate FUR
6b. media are relevant to the topic, and have suitable captions. Good. Subject is character, not actor, and as such must be illustrated by the character in question. Unlikely to be a free image available.
7. Overall assessment. Pending

  • He doesn't help Scully at all?
  • "The character serves as a replacement for his predecessor on the series,..." -- A little wordy. Why not "The character serves as a replacement for..."
Conceptual history
  • "Nogulich was replaced because the writing staff felt she was not able to create the "right chemistry" with her co-stars." -- This should probably be earlier. Lets not discuss Williams in detail and then return to Nogulich
Character arc
  • "... is attacked brutally by an MIB assassin." -- MIB in this context is? (for the general reader)
  • "X fatally shoots the Red Haired Man as he is about to step off the car. X boards the car with only enough time left to save either Mulder or the alien-human hybrid the car was transporting, opting to save Mulder, and carries him off to safety just as the car explodes." -- Red Haired Man? Link? Also, repetition. Perhaps "X fatally shoots the Red Haired Man as he is about to step off the car, then boards the car with only enough time left to save either Mulder or the alien-human hybrid the car was transporting. He opts to save Mulder, and carries him off to safety just as the car explodes."
I think I've got all of these. I've also added the principal cast in brackets after their characters, if you think this should be undone or expanded, let me know. GRAPPLE X 06:04, 18 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • Do we need the time for your video references for GA? I know they are required for FA.
I could supply them all if I sit and watch them again tomorrow (I'd probably format them as I did here), but generally this doesn't come up at GA. I don't mind adding them though, but the video for ref 1 is less than five minutes long, so I'd be tempted just to add a time for ref 26; or would you prefer both for consistency? • What makes starpulse an RS?
I had a look over at their content guidelines when you flagged it here, and although I couldn't find anything definitive on their editorial oversight, the poor English used on their "About us" pages leads me to think there isn't much of that. I've removed the information sourced to the site from the article. GRAPPLE X 06:04, 18 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
If you do it, it should be consistent. I won't push for a GA, but if this ever winds up at FA I'd have to ask for the times.
  • Spotchecks
  • Current FN 22 (this): Checks out for both bits of information cited
  • Current FN 9 (here): Checks out, no close paraphrasing.
  • Current FN 29 (here): Fails verification. It only says "The X-Files"
    • I've amended ref 29 to use this page now (bloody Guild seems to change its layout a fair amount, I've also added a manual archiving of this one courtesy of WebCite. You'll need to click the "view cast list" link under The X-Files, it displays the list on-screen only when that's selected, which is an unfortunate amount of faff. • Thanks for taking the time to look at this one, I appreciate it. I've addressed most of what you've raised, and can provide time references for the videos tomorrow evening (it's 6 in the morning and I should probably sleep before rewatching any documentaries on spacemen).
