Picture
[edit]Shouldn't the main picture be a picture of the author? If anyone has a photo that isn't restricted, it'd be better to use that one instead.
- Yeah the cover should be on the books articls but The Dark Wingis sadly the same Jamhaw 20:55, 12 August 2006 (UTC)jamhaw
Blog link
[edit]I've added the author's blog to the wiki and noticed, afterwards, that Fnlayson removed it because he found that "the author's official blog does meet ET requirements." I disagree with this. The ET ( [1]) states, under links to be avoided: "Links to blogs and personal webpages, except those written by a recognized authority." GameCreator 03:12, 22 January 2007 (UTC)
- No, JoeSmack removed that link. -Fnlayson 03:37, 22 January 2007 (UTC)
- Apologies. JoeSmack, or anyone else, I've read the relevant sections of both links provided in the edit history and to me, neither justify removing the blog. It is stable (has been around since May '04), it is not an advertisement, the wiki wasn't created to promote the blog (though I may wish it, I'm not directly associated with Stover in any way), etc. etc. Until someone quotes a specific rule somewhere that this breaks (as opposed to sending people to read entire pages), I'll keep the blog in. GameCreator 22:20, 23 January 2007 (UTC)
- I came to this page through the random link. I think Gamecreator is correct, a published author's personal and/or professional web sites (blog or not) should be notable enough to be linked. It seems reasonable that someone researching the author would want to see it. --Tbannist 20:44, 27 February 2007 (UTC)

Acts of Caine themes
[edit]I think the Acts of Caine section should be removed or moved. It has to do with specifics of some of the author's books, not the author himself. If it even does belong there, it contains opinions and sentences that could be cleaned up. MrBananaGrabber 18:25, 15 February 2007 (UTC)
- Clean-up sure. This seems related to Stover's writing style and such. I don't see another good place to move and this article is not that long. -Fnlayson 14:36, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
- Fair enough. It stays. I'll work on cleaning it up. MrBananaGrabber 04:03, 17 February 2007 (UTC)
- The main sentence that strikes me as biased or unsupported is: "Stover's works, particularly Heroes Die and even more strongly, Blade of Tyshalle, contain more moral questions than most fantasy novels." Definitely a candidate for deletion. MrBananaGrabber 04:12, 17 February 2007 (UTC)
- I think it might be better if the themes of all the author's books were talked about in general, rather than just two of his seven currently released novels. Currently, this section does not really help me understand more about the author or his style. MrBananaGrabber 05:06, 28 February 2007 (UTC)
- Stover's character development is typically focused on two questions: What does the character want? How far will they go to get it? As a consequence it seems both reasonable and accurate to suggest that his work features both more, and more confronting moral choice than "most fantasy novels". Sturgeons law virtually guarantees this. It also seems irrelevant. UntamedPlayer 13:35, 29 October 2007 (UTC)

Even after cleanup there were no references for that section; it looked a lot like it was mostly original research. As such, I've removed the entire section. If you want to re-add it; please make sure that you only include material that you can provide a reliable source for. Thanks. Shell babelfish 23:26, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
Date of birth, official website(s)
[edit]At Facebook, 'matthewwoodringstover' is him, evidently, and gives this info:
- Website: http://www.mwstover.com"
Same eddress we give here, which is dead for me now. I reworded (from "blog") and tagged ({dead}) the External link.
- Born: November 30, 1999
- Personal information: "Matthew Woodring Stover firmly believes that if you don't already know ..."
Ha ha. We give birthdate January 29 in the infobox only, none in the lead. At a glance, it seems to me that we may be the source of "January 29" elsewhere (such as ISFDB [2]).

Science fantasy
[edit]In the infobox under genre why doesn't it list science fantasy?
