info
[edit]Hi GL3N here, as there was alot of information I have put them together so it is easier at Formula_One_Games, if thats better, with links to seperate games. What do you think ?
- Merged! Thanks. --Mateusc 03:37, 26 August 2005 (UTC)
article name
[edit]I've created the article on Domark's ancient game, and there two things going on my mind: first, shouldn't we move this to Formula One (Sony) and turn this article into a dab page for all games related to F1 (even Formula Dé), and second, shouldn't the article have some information about the first game in the series? I have it around here, but I was never able to emulate it perfectly. wS;✉ 07:05, 6 October 2005 (UTC)
- I don't think so because Sony game is exclusevely official FIA licensed product. --Rick Browser 23:18, 15 January 2006 (UTC)
- I do not think that that's a good enough reason to have Formula One (game) focus only on Sony's game. First, the exclusivity contract has only been in effect since 2003. There have been many officially licensed F1 video games made by companies other than Sony, and some of them have been simply called "Formula One" or something similar (see below). Second, Sony's exclusive license only applies to video games, and the term "game" may apply to other types of games (see Formula Dé). Anyway, there have been quite a few changes to some of the articles...
- Formula One (game) is now a disambiguation page, as there are multiple games that are named "Formula One", "Formula 1", "F1 <insert year>", etc. The Domark game is listed there. Feel free to add Formula Dé and other appropriate games there.
- Sony's series (the subject of this talk page) is now at Formula One (video game series). I believe that the title separates it from similar games well enough, as it is the only series of F1 games that is being produced currently. However, there may be some confusion between Sony's series and the EA Sports F1 Series of games; perhaps a disambiguation link is in order at the top of this article.
- The first game in Sony's series now has its own article at Formula 1 (PS1).

PAL and NTSC releases
[edit]I am removing the following sentence: The game was originally only released in Europe in the PAL format, but in recent years full NTSC compatibility has been added. According to the GameFAQs database, each of the first four games of the series had either an NTSC U/C (North America) or NTSC J (Japan) release. Majin Izlude 15:22, 27 June 2006 (UTC)
Sony/Playstation??
[edit]This is kind of weird, but this thing says that it's made by Sony and only for the Playstations but I have Formula One 2000 for Game Boy Color, and on the game (old, dont even know where I got it so only have the game) it doesn't mention anything about Sony... --Yarnalgo 01:21, 17 August 2006 (UTC)
- On the game (the one I have) it actually has a Take-Two Interactive logo on it... also I found these: [1], [2], [3], [4], [5], [6], [7], [8] .... but when I looked for other games in the series on none-Sony consoles I couldn't find any......plus this page hasn't been edited for like 2 months so if no one responds in a couple days I'm gonnna put it down that it is on Game Boy Color too. --Yarnalgo 02:43, 17 August 2006 (UTC)
- Ok, I'm marking it down for GBC. --Yarnalgo 19:59, 17 August 2006 (UTC)
Merge
[edit]I've proposed merging F1 World Championship 2 into Formula One (video game series). F1 World Championship 2 only has two English non-wiki g-hits, neither of which are about that game, so it seems to fail WP:Notability.--Kathy A. 16:27, 23 February 2007 (UTC)
- Something of interest to note: The GameFAQs list of N64 titles starting with "F" has no games called F1 World Championship or F1 World Championship 2 -- but there are entries for F-1 World Grand Prix and F-1 World Grand Prix II, which were developed by Paradigm Entertainment.
- It is likely that F1 World Championship 2 is really the same game as F1 World Grand Prix II, and as such, it should be merged into that article and taken off the list here (as it's clearly not a part of the Psygnosis/Studio Liverpool line of F1 games, the subject of this article). The same goes for F1 World Championship and F-1 World Grand Prix (though no merging is needed there). As for the other N64 game, F1 Pole Position: It was developed by Human Entertainment, a Japanese company, whereas the games of this article were made in the UK.
- All of the N64 games should be removed from this article. Majin Izlude talk 17:10, 23 February 2007 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:F105ps2.jpg
[edit]Image:F105ps2.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Future of series
[edit]Does anyone know if the f1 video game series will come to Xbox 360 and have sony signed a new contract to make the games.
- It seems that nobody is developing an F1 game at the moment. Sony's exclusive contract was for four seasons (2003-2006). They've been mysteriously silent about a 2007 season game (F1 was a no-show at the Leipzig conference), and nothing has been mentioned of them (or any other company) getting a new licensing deal from the FOA/FOM. To top it off, fifty employees at Sony Studio Liverpool were laid off a few months ago. It's not looking good for F1 gamers. (I see that someone already edited the article to refer to the series in the past tense.) Majin Izlude talk 16:27, 28 August 2007 (UTC)
- F1 games sells poor in USA and Japan and this is because nobody in gaming industry is interested in develop a game that will obvious lose money invested. Geoff Crammond stated in EGM July 2007 he is not interested in develop Grand Prix 5 soon maybe in future who knows? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ciao 90 (talk • contribs) 12:23, 4 October 2007 (UTC)
- From what I've heard, the only reason there wasn't a 2007 game was because they were too busy making F1 CE. Clearly Studio Liverpool havn't given the Series priority, but I Dought there will be no 2008 Game - LinczoneTalk/Watch 13:23, 30 December 2007 (UTC)
Codemasters exclusive F1 rights
[edit]One thing to say about that, so glad that EA didn't get it, they would've wrecked it, Codemasters will make brilliant graphics, let's hope everything else will be just as good.--80.4.6.146 (talk) 12:16, 9 May 2008 (UTC)
Requested move 2009

The result of the proposal was moved to Formula One (Studio Liverpool video game series)
Formula One (video game series) → ? — There are many F1 video game series, this is but one, some other name should be used, and this name should redirect to the dab page Formula One (game) — 76.66.196.229 (talk) 07:18, 16 February 2009 (UTC)

Discussion
[edit]- Any additional comments:
Wouldn't standard practice be to include the developer name, giving the slightly longwinded Formula One (Studio Liverpool video game series). A redirect should also be created from Formula One (Psygnosis video game series). AlexJ (talk) 13:41, 22 February 2009 (UTC)

I have made the move, but there are nearly 60 incoming links to Formula One (video game series). It would be nice if these could be disambiguated, i.e. find out which links should go the this particular game. Normally, internal links should not point to dab pages. Requested move 27 February 2018
[edit]- The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the move request was: consensus to move the page, per the discussion below. Dekimasuよ! 06:06, 5 March 2018 (UTC)
Formula One (series) → Formula One (video game series) – Title is ambiguous - sets of Formula 1 races are also called a series (see Category:Formula racing series for examples. Netoholic @ 11:25, 27 February 2018 (UTC)
- Support WP:ASTONISH. Staggering that someone could think (series) here doesn't refer to the actual real thing. In ictu oculi (talk) 17:59, 27 February 2018 (UTC)
- Support per nom, and also for consistency with the numerous other "xxx (video game series)" articles. DH85868993 (talk) 22:37, 27 February 2018 (UTC)
- Support Clearly requires better disambiguation as per nom. Shadow007 (talk) 23:49, 27 February 2018 (UTC)
- This seems like a reasonable move. --Izno (talk) 02:27, 28 February 2018 (UTC)
- Support - But reason why is wrong - Formula One races are not called series, more than half the contents of that category are not called series. The category is incorrectly named and should not be used to illustrate why this article needs renaming (Formula racing series and championships - would be a better name for the category). There's no confusion as it's called The Formula One Championship, not series. I can understand a North American reader being used to calling their races "racing series", but the rest of the world doesn't call it that and this is not the American English Wikipedia. While I think it's not needed, changing to (video game series) in this case seems OK. - X201 (talk) 08:47, 28 February 2018 (UTC)
- Support This is a clear case that in the common vernacular, people looking for the "Formula One series" are looking for the actual races, not the video games, even if F1 doesn't call their races as "series". --Masem (t) 14:23, 28 February 2018 (UTC)
- Question – What should come of this article ("Formula One (series)")? Should this be a redirect to some other article (like Formula One itself?), or should this be turned into a disambiguation page? ~Mable (chat) 15:40, 28 February 2018 (UTC)
- Neither. Just the move. Although the article itself could do with big side order of improvement. - X201 (talk) 17:12, 28 February 2018 (UTC)
- Support It should certainly have Video game in the title. Not that F1 championships are referred to as series, but they could easily be confused with this. Delete the current page after moving to allow Wikipedia search to work. Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 08:38, 1 March 2018 (UTC)
