[edit]Please not vis-a-vis the recent edit warring over a "controversy" section that I have blanked the section as a courtesy for now (without offering an opinion as to the validity of any of the information). The matter is currently under discussion at WP:BLP/N. Wikidemon (talk) 18:21, 28 February 2009 (UTC)
Controversies section
[edit]In the interest of full disclosure, I was the first to add any mention of controversy concerning Schmidly. My addition of this paragraph was in no way intended to bias the article, but rather to provide relevant and current information concerning the topic. In retrospect, however, adding this paragraph was inappropriate given my proximity to the subject and my strong personal opinion on the controversy surrounding him. For these reasons, I believe it important that I recuse myself from editing or providing my opinion on this article.
That said, allow me to quickly contradict my previous statement and say simply that something has to be done about this Controversies section. What began as a brief note about an on-going controversy surrounding Mr. Schmidly has since evolved into something of a tabloid article. It is well-sourced, but nonetheless reads as either a low-quality attempt at journalism or indeed an attempt to bias the article, if only due to its length relative to the rest of the article. I would suggest trimming down this section to provide only a brief mention of the circumstances surrounding his separation from OSU, the recent no-confidence vote by the UNM faculty, and the history behind this no-confidence vote (namely, accusations of cronyism). - Agreed. I trimmed the section significantly. It is still half the article so should either be trimmed further or more should be added to other sections or both. →Wordbuilder (talk) 14:17, 6 June 2009 (UTC)
- Much better. Thank you. AmiDaniel (talk) 20:54, 6 June 2009 (UTC)
