Summary

Description The First Moravian Episcopal Church at 154 Lexington Avenue on the corner of East 30th Street in the Rose Hill neighborhood of Manhattan, New York City was built c.1845 in Romanesque Revival style as the Rose Hill Baptist Church, which became the Madison Avenue Baptist Church. When the Baptist parish left, the church briefly became the Episcopal Church of the Mediator. The Moravian congregation, members of the Unitas Fratrum (Unity of the Brethren), had been organized in 1748, and had its first sanctuary on Fulton Street by 1752, which was replaced by a new building in 1829. The parish moved to their current location in 1869. (Source: From Abyssinian to Zion (2004))
