Thanks!

Thank you for your support of the Williams Sisters rivalry page, though as a result some overzealous editors have begun to believe that you are me. Ha. Thought you should know. Alonsornunez (talk) 12:25, 6 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of fancruft on Federer page

You removed the fancruft from the Roger Federer page. I was under the impression this should not be removed until the page is reviewed by the editorial team. Am I hopelessly ignorant of procedure? (forgive me I'm new) Bittersweetsmile (talk) 20:13, 7 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It was me that removed the tag. ROxBo (talk) 14:25, 14 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks

Thank you, for helping me make the changes for all the grand slams. Looked at the work you have done for tennis pages on wikipedia. Good job, keep it up!--Harish89 (talk) 20:04, 10 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Help Please with Roger Federer Article!

{{helpme}} I need some help because the edits are bunched together for the top four edit links on this article on opera and firefox browser, but is not effected by IE! TennisAuthority 05:25, 12 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

To what exactly are you referring to? I'm using Firefox and see no problems.  Fyyer  06:03, 12 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Its to the left of olympic medals! It might just be me! TennisAuthority 06:05, 12 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, I see what you mean now. Yes, it's the same for me. I'm not sure on that one. Get more eyes on this issue and post the question in Help Desk.  Fyyer  06:14, 12 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Question on the Roger Federer Article

Sir, numerous tennis legends and expert commentators say that Federer is the greatest player ever. This fact has been noted in the first paragraph of the article, but certain people keep changing the wording to "one of the greatest," which clearly is not accurate. Can you please monitor the page and make sure the wording correctly states that numerous experts believe Federer "to be the greatest" rather than "one of the greatest"? Thank you. (By the way, I've been blocked from editing the page - unfairly, I think.) TheTennisObserver (talk) 12:07, 12 June 2009 (UTC) TheTennisObserver[reply]

Federer nicknames

Unfortunately it all comes down to personal judgements. When someone says "the nickname's not used enough" what does that mean? That only a million rather than a necessary 5 million people use it? You can never know. As I've said before it's probably best to try to improve the article in other ways. If I didn't I'd probably go crazy with a million little issues! Still, you're not too annoyed about not including the extra nicknames are you? Bittersweetsmile (talk) 22:08, 12 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

NOPE! TennisAuthority 22:10, 12 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Career articles all about Roger Federer?

It seems you have recently created several "career statistics" articles (ex: Mats Wilander career statistics) and added a wikilink to them at the top of each player's page. However, these wikilinks said "For additional information on Roger Federer, please see ..." and they have been corrected. As good as Roger is, it is unlikely that he and Mats Wilander, Ivan Lendl and Boris Becker all shared the same career. If you have created (or will create) any other such articles, would you please check that they refer to the correct tennis player. Cheers. Truthanado (talk) 01:45, 16 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Edit Summaries...Please

You really need to get better about putting some kind of edit summary on every edit...especially when you take 24K or so out for a player statistics page (like [here]...Please. -- Mjquin_id (talk) 05:46, 16 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Federer-Nadal Rivalry Page

Hi, I was wondering if you could help in the arbitration over the incusion of certain sections in the Federer-Nadal rivalry Page, namely:

[1]&[2]

Please refer to the discussion [3] section entitled Attn: TennisGrandSlam.

Your input would be welcome, thanks!TennisGrandSlam (talk) 09:41, 16 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Federer navboxes

It might be possible to compact the navboxes without actually creating a new template as you have done. Check out navboxes at Cesc Fàbregas. LeaveSleaves 21:27, 16 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Never mind. I see that you have used that technique. LeaveSleaves 21:29, 16 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Player templates

Is there a reason you are making the bottom navboxes into templates? It would really be nice if you would discuss this kind of major change on the project's talk page...or at LEAST in the edit summary. I would only recommend a template if the content was across multiple pages..which is not the case here is it? Please discuss this on the project talk page. -- Mjquin_id (talk) 23:24, 16 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Noinclude tags

I would add that when you create templates such as this, you need to enclose the categories in no include tags, such as <noinclude>[[Category:Tennis templates]]</noinclude>. The reason for this is that if you don't enclose the category in that tag, then whatever category the template is in will show up on every article that the template appears on. It's not a huge deal as its easily fixable and it's something that even some veteran users don't get the hang of. So this is more a heads up than anything else. If you have any questions, let me know. --User:Woohookitty Diamming fool! 04:20, 17 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Men's Grand Slam Championships, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:

It's a recreation of List of Grand Slam Men's Singles champions (reverse chronological order) (per G4)

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as an appropriate article, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is appropriate, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. RaLo18 (talk with memy contributions) 10:07, 18 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Lendl-McEnroe rivalry requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Proposed deletion of Lendl-McEnroe rivalry

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Lendl-McEnroe rivalry, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

Would be better as a table in the articles concerned.

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. The bright idea of putting past champs first in the grand slam bracket articles

If you believe the usage isn't right, and want to address that at the project talk page, feel free to do so. I'm merely trying to keep some consistency within draw pages, following what has been the accepted practice in all articles I've seen. --Don Lope (talk) 21:26, 19 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This template must be substituted. Replace {{Template for discussion ...}} with {{subst:Template for discussion ...}}.

Template:Roger Federer Nicknames

I know you are new to this. But. :) Templates only exist because they have navigational or informational value. And generally, they should only exist if they are going to be used on multiple articles. Well this one isn't navigational at all as none of the nicknames are links. It's not really informational because it's a tad trivial. And it's not going to be used on multiple articles since it contains no links. So it doesn't really fit the criteria of what a template should be. You can put code like that on a page without putting it into template space. I'd suggest putting that code on Federer's page and leaving it at that. Templatespace is really only for things that are going to be on multiple articles. There are exceptions but I'm not sure this fits any of them. --User:Woohookitty Diamming fool! 05:37, 20 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'm going to nominate it for deletion but I will recommend that it be subst before it's deleted so that way it'll still be on the page. It just simply shouldn't be in template space. The discussion is here.--User:Woohookitty Diamming fool! 05:39, 20 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I've commented at the TfD and would say is here as well: do not use the template, subst or otherwise. It is essentially a trivial list of names that bores no significance in development of article. And as I had mentioned at the article's talk page, adjectives used in news articles do not necessarily qualify as nicknames. They have to prevalent in usage among fans and critics alike and I mean regular usage, not something to describe the player. LeaveSleaves 05:51, 20 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Evonne Goolagong

Just curious as to why you removed all the tables/stats from the Goolagong page. The same data is included in virtually every player profile on wiki, so it seems odd you took it away. I won't reinstate it as I have felt the wrath of irritated administrators before when I've disagreed with them, but I am curious. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.134.39.83 (talk) 10:27, 20 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Rivalry pages

Please do not create rivalry pages listing only the statistics without justifying why the rivalry is notable. Wikipedia is not collection of indiscriminate information. Also make sure you provide significance of the rivalry pages that you have created already. LeaveSleaves 11:13, 20 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
