Am I glad to see you back!!!!
I have finally discovered via a blog who the elusive UVF "Craftsman" was. He was Jim McDonald, Bunter's second-in-command on the Brigade Staff. He had been a UVF member since its formation in the 1960s. He died in 2009 and was replaced by Harry Stockman. Like you said the real big players never got the publicity.--Jeanne Boleyn (talk) 08:57, 28 November 2012 (UTC)
- He's the last name I would have thought of to be honest. He gets a couple of passing mentions as a PUP negotiator in the books with no biographical details whatsoever. Keresaspa (talk) 19:37, 28 November 2012 (UTC)
- Oh and I was off here because my computer was over in England getting patched up by my sister's boyfriend who is a bit of a Mr Fixit when it comes to these things. He's done a bloody good job whatever he did, it's working better than ever. Keresaspa (talk) 19:41, 28 November 2012 (UTC)
- I was worried you'd be away for a long time. Glad to have you back. Isn't that typical of the big fish like Jim McDonald? They hardly ever get netted by the journalists. Same with Artie Fee and Norman Sayers.--Jeanne Boleyn (talk) 14:29, 29 November 2012 (UTC)
- I dip in and out these days as I can't always be bothered any more. My last big involvement about NI was my edits to Raymond McCord's article from his book. He's an odd fellow. I have some thoughts about him but BLP and all that crap means I have to keep them to myself. Fee's in Bruce's the Red Hand in passing and Sayers turns up in the press from time to time. I've never even looked for McDonald personally as nearly everything about Jim McDonald and Northern Ireland would be about Coronation Street! All those sort of names would turn up from time to time in the Sunday World and/or Life but both papers have a bit of a reputation for making it up as they go along unfortunately. Keresaspa (talk) 20:44, 29 November 2012 (UTC)
- I just came upon another name of a former senior UVF commander from East Belfast by the name of Jim Magee. Ever heard of him? I saw him in a photo standing beside Kem Gibson and close to Paisley during the UWC strike in 1974. Interesting.--Jeanne Boleyn (talk) 09:27, 1 December 2012 (UTC)
- This one you mean. Well, he's just a face in the crowd there really and Paisley had no problem working with paramilitaries in those days. Keresaspa (talk) 19:37, 1 December 2012 (UTC)
- Well I see someone decided to remove the "cruft" from my Anne Ogilby article. Well Wikipedia can kiss its arse if it wants another article from me. Fuck this place and most of the cunts who lurk about. Keresaspa a pity most Wikipedians aren't as gentlemanly as you and DColt are.--Jeanne Boleyn (talk) 08:19, 2 December 2012 (UTC)
- I see that; how rude. The edits he or she made aren't that extensive but there is no need to be nasty in an edit summary like that when the grand old made-up word "copyedit" exists to cover any rephrasing or the like. Given that "cruft" is supposed to mean fan stuff what is the editor suggesting - that you're a fan of the UDA, murder or something else? It's a nonsense edit summary in that context. Keresaspa (talk) 00:10, 3 December 2012 (UTC)
- The editor in question has since sent me a concilliatory message. Editors need to be careful in their edit summaries. I always use the word "tweak" as that does not give offence. Some of these on-line forums are very interesting re info on UVF Brigade Staff, etc although naturally they cannot be sourced. I find a lot of info. That photo contains some familiar faces. I wonder if Jim Magee was the commander Joe Tiernan mentioned in his book? What do you think of Henry McDonald, the journalist?--Jeanne Boleyn (talk) 07:31, 3 December 2012 (UTC)
- Let it go then, it's not worth getting annoyed about. I don't trust forums personally. Some stuff on them is true but there is a lot of people who know nothing just shooting off their mouths claiming to know a lot more than they do. As such you can never really be sure what is legit and what is bulldink. This might have passed you by in Italy but every forum and blog in the British isles named this guy as a nonce about a month ago and it turned out to be rubbish. Now I can't stand the guy in question but putting that name on somebody when they're not guilty is wrong but according to the internet he was. Things like that rightly make them unreliable sources. As for McDonald I think he's decent enough as he doesn't sit on the fence as much as Taylor but doesn't
make things upembellish as much as Dillon. He jumps to conclusions from limited evidence occasionally but I suppose he doesn't claim to be an academic and that is a general weakness of journalism as a whole (although conversely the obsession with proving everything through theories at the expense of common sense interpretation is a weakness of academic literature so it has it's good and bad side). Mind you. he's a lot better on the UDA than he is on the UVF. Bit like me really :D Keresaspa (talk) 20:14, 3 December 2012 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Paul Reece, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Keith Alexander (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Seasons greetings
Merry Christmas to you and yours. I plan to do more editing in the coming new year.--Jeanne Boleyn (talk) 08:53, 24 December 2012 (UTC)
- Same to you and yours. I'm on and off here these days - a mixture of real life business and a lack of motivation - although the recent flag protest crap has robbed me of my desire to even think about loyalists, much less edit articles about them. Keresaspa (talk) 16:44, 24 December 2012 (UTC)

The Tavern was an Elvis theme bar....
Sorry to go all the way back to May but I came across your archived discussion about the Tavern Bar and its imposing appearance. I went into the Tavern a number of times, it was actually a pretty ordinary sort of place, an Elvis themed bar with a pool table and a few Celtic pictures. Many of the clientele were auld boys refused another drink in McElhatton's (so they were really pretty past it). Despite its forbidding exterior it was a welcoming place and very cheap too, £2.50 or thereabouts for a pint. Elvis has now left the building however and the bar has been re-opened with a folk club upstairs. The cage is being kept for old times' sake. Funnily enough when they were removing one of the big pictures of Elvis from behind the bar, they discovered on the wall behind it... another Elvis picture.. I know, scary.... Djewesbury (talk) 12:46, 25 December 2012 (UTC)
- Refused another at McElhatton's? They must have stocious alright :D Tavern was locked with a noticed about an expired booze licence on the door the last time I passed it, has it reopened? Keresaspa (talk) 20:29, 25 December 2012 (UTC)
DYK for Hans Severus Ziegler
On 2 January 2013, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Hans Severus Ziegler, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that Hans Severus Ziegler proposed the name "Hitler-Jugend" (Hitler Youth) for the Nazi youth movement? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Hans Severus Ziegler. You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and it will be added to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page. |

Nice to see you back
I'm glad your self-imposed retirement did not last long!!!--Jeanne Boleyn (talk) 07:52, 21 January 2013 (UTC)
- Ah, I don't suppose I'll ever actually retire as I do get the notion from time to time but I don't think my heart's in it much these days. Oddly enough, unlike any of my previous sulks, there's no specific reason for it this time, I just can't reallybe bothered as much as I used to. Keresaspa (talk) 19:39, 21 January 2013 (UTC)
- I know the feeling; I believe it's called burn-out. You just cannot find the inspiration to edit articles. Hopefully, I'll become inspired again to create new pages.--Jeanne Boleyn (talk) 07:34, 22 January 2013 (UTC)
- I've been feeling this way for a while, and I suppose the novelty wears off everything eventually. Given that we're all here by our volition it should never be a chore but recently it has felt like it is. Keresaspa (talk) 19:30, 22 January 2013 (UTC)

Northern Ireland's Comical Ali
You beat me at the finishing line for updating the edit for Willie Frazer's latest bizarre statement, but I am more than happy to congratulate you for doing it before anyone else.Simply because the world must know of the comedy genius that is Willie Frazer.I was actually laughing so much I was in pain. Please Willie don't ever change, you keep everyone in Northern Ireland regardless of their political belief entertained!DColt (talk) 19:51, 27 January 2013 (UTC)
