*Quality over quantity. There is too much crap on Wikipedia. :* Quality over quantity. I am often found in the new articles section, tagging rubbish for speedy deletion. Speedy deletion is OK. No troubles doing that. It's the AfD process that causes me grief, because people will vote to keep any old crap. It's not that I have a problem with the Wikipedia community's desire for the encyclopedia to contain as much information about everything as possible, I just hate to see the standard of Wikipedia lowered by borderline spam, stubs about non-notable things that contain just enough meaningless information to avoid speedy deletion, and other assorted gibberish. I realize I'm well and truly outvoted on this issue, however, so I now avoid AfD like the plague and concentrate my efforts in the following areas:
::* Hitting 'random article' and fixing spelling and grammar mistakes as I see them. I have a good eye for that sort of thing.
::* Writing good articles. Too many bad articles? Shift the balance by writing good ones.
::* Miscellaneous category sorting.

Wikipedia does not need an article on every album ever released. Wikipedia does not need an article on every city, county and township in America, or every star in the galaxy, or a synopsis of every episode of The Family Guy (which by the way is a damn funny show). Wikipedia would be better off not listing the ingredients of Virgil's Root Beer.
:*Vigilance- Look for vanity, vandalism and patent nonsense and, when you find it, kill it.

:*!!!NO COMMERCIAL AFFILIATION!!!- See here. Basically, Answers.com want to sell information from Wikipedia and give Wikipedia a slice of the profits. I am opposed to this. I have contributed several articles to this site and I object to someone else making money from them.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm off to fly the Deletionist flag over at AfD. I no longer care if I'm outvoted. Someone has to do it.

My Wikipedia Philosophy

 • Quality over quantity. There is too much crap on Wikipedia. This admirable project is accumulating crap at an ever increasing rate and, apart from vigilant folks who prowl the new articles section tagging bad articles for speedy deletion, there just isn't enough being done to curb the influx of utter tripe.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm off to fly the Deletionist flag over at AfD. I no longer care if I'm outvoted. Someone has to do it.
