"Hillforts" or "Hill Forts"?
The article is inconsistent in its use of the compound noun "hillfort" and the adjective-noun combination "hill fort". Should be consistent, especially in consideration of the title of the article (which uses "Hillfort", one word). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 192.240.86.8 (talk) 20:24, 10 August 2016 (UTC)
Purpose
I notice this section in the article is currently bare. When I put together the article on Maiden Castle, Dorset the hill fort article was in pretty poor condition. As a result I thought it necessary to include a brief note on the possible purpose of hill forts to the Maiden Castle article to add some context. The first paragraph of the first hill fort section might be worth cannibalising, I would think that the Cunliffe quote might be particularly useful. Nev1 (talk) 20:18, 20 December 2010 (UTC)
- Good idea, of course there is quite soem debate as to the purposes of hill forts in the British Isles, with a number of post-processual archaeologists putting forward the case that they were simply not used for defense, and we need to reflect these various points of view.(Midnightblueowl (talk) 15:16, 21 December 2010 (UTC))
