Esteban Carpio, has been convicted for the murder of Providence Police Detective James Allen. Carpio was being questioned by the Providence Police for the stabbing of an elderly woman. One of the detetctives left the room leaving him alone with Allen. He then took the gun away from Allen and proceeded to shoot and kill Allen. He then jumped from the third story window and was later apprehended. He was thought to have been physically abused by police after his capture, due to the obvious signs of beating on his face. An investigation into the matter revealed that Carpio was not abused. His trial began June 8th, 2006.
