History

In 1997, Olympic Group established Olympic Stores, a chain of retail stores to sell electronic and household appliances. IDEAL, the largest manufacturer of domestic appliances in Egypt, was acquired by Olympic Group to diversify its range of products. In 2003, Olympic Stores was renamed ‘B.Tech’. Currently, B.Tech operates 88 branches spread across 25 governorates and works with over 600 dealers and distributors.[1]

Brands

B.Tech is an authorised seller of Apple, Braun, Ariston, iCook, Ultra and other international brands in Egypt.

Partnerships

In 2016, Development Partners International (DPI), a UK private equity group acquired 33.3% of B.Tech for $35 million.[2] The strategic partnership enabled the enhancement of supply chain and IT infrastructure and a number of new products were introduced.[3]

The online payment operations of B.Tech is facilitated by Fawry Banking & Payment Technology Services Ltd.[4] Apart from bank mobile wallets and credit cards, FawryPay provides customers easy direct debit for payment in installments.

Expansion

B. Tech opened 17 new branches in 2019. They run 75 authorized service centres across Egypt with trained technicians and engineers. B. Tech Academy was set up to offer certified programs for employee skill development.
