Edit counter: German Umlaute broken
Hi, the edit counter displays Umlaute (ä,ö,ü) incorrectly. The content is delivered as UTF-8, the Umlaute however are ISO-8859-15. It's only a minor inconvenience, but I thought I'd let you know. Have a nice wikibreak. --Asgar (talk) 07:09, 2 June 2010 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on Template:Adminshirt requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. SoxBot 19
Hi X!,
sorry to break into your break. Quick question since it came up at Twinkle again, apparently SoxBot isn't doing the image tagging task from SoxBot 19 anymore, since March 5. Can you turn it back on? Or is there a bigger issue I'm unaware of?
Thanks, Amalthea 12:54, 25 May 2010 (UTC)
- I can bring it back to BOTREQ of course. It would help to know why you've disabled the job though. Cheers, Amalthea 22:10, 31 May 2010 (UTC)
- Since you are now officially back, can I bump this one more time? :) Amalthea 14:02, 7 June 2010 (UTC)
- The problem is that pillar, while good in concept, has some serious issues that mean it can't be run by cron. It's a trivial task to change the framework, and I'll get to it when I have the chance. (X! · talk) · @938 · 21:30, 7 June 2010 (UTC)

Admin highlighter
Hi X, I was wondering if you run SoxBot over on Commons. I've established a local version of User:SoxBot/adminrights-admins.js over there (at Commons:User:Huntster/adminrights-admins.js, base script at Commons:User:Huntster/adminrights.js), and I'm hoping you could have SoxBot auto-update that list as well. Cheers :) — Huntster (t @ c) 01:18, 1 June 2010 (UTC)

MPUploadBot
Hey X!, I gather you haven't got a lot of time on your hands, but is there any chance you could programme the bot to copy the licensing and description from the Commons image to the local copy, particularly for TFP. Best, HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 02:19, 1 June 2010 (UTC)

Localization text errors of you new edit counter
Hi, can you please fix some translation errors in your new edit counter for localized texts of Bengali (bn) version? The corrected texts are showing below. Please fix this.
# 'edits' --> 'সম্পাদনা' # 'show' --> 'প্রদর্শন করো' # 'translatelink' --> 'অনুবাদ'
If you don't have the support for Bengali script, just copy-pest the texts. Well, that's all for the moment, and I hope you will add action count (i.e. page move, delete etc.) section too, just like the previous counter. Thank you in advance. — Tanvir 10:18, 4 June 2010 (UTC)

OptIn
Hi,
why do you use a new opt-in system in your editcounter with the .js? Many users have already opted in for interiots edit counter, with the Yourusername/Editcounter page, witch contains Month-Graph:yes Namespacesum-Graph:yes Weekday-Graph:yes Hour-Graph:yes Therefore, it would be helpful if this practice is also supported, because it is already widespread. --Halbfertige Artikel (talk) 13:59, 10 June 2010 (UTC)
- Basically, the toolserver admins forced X! to add it against the will of X! and many others due to privacy issues. Set Sail For The Seven Seas 212° 22' 15" NET 14:09, 10 June 2010 (UTC)
- I believe what Halbfertige Artikel is suggesting is that X!'s tools should also recognize opt-in requests at the Yourusername/Editcounter page. And for my part, I'd love to be able to opt-in somewhere centrally so I don't need to keep an extraneous page lying around my bot's userspace. –xenotalk 18:28, 11 June 2010 (UTC)
- Interiot's tool seems to have stopped working, in any case, unless it's moved to a new URL. But for me, loading up toolserver
.org /~interiot or tools .wikimedia .de /~interiot / or any page within those subdirectories produces an error message stating that the account has expired. —Soap— 14:53, 10 June 2010 (UTC) - I think is good, that there is a opt-in, unfortunately only a small percentage have opted in with X!'s system but about 70 percent of users with more than 10 edits have opted in with interiots system (data from German Wikipedia). So it seems helpfully that also this opt-ins would accepted.

Automated Tool Edits
Hi there X!, I find the tools/counters you have created to be very helpful. I am interested to know if you would be willing to include my tool, STiki, as part of the "assisted/automated edits" count. Logged out SoxBot
Is there an alternative? I know that when HBC AIV HelperBot makes edits it is not required to add a signature. Trout
Whacking with a wet trout or trouting is a common practice on Wikipedia when experienced editors slip up and make a silly mistake. It, along with sentencing to the village stocks, is used to resolve one-off instances of seemingly silly behavior amongst normally constructive community members, as opposed to long term patterns of disruptive edits, which earn warnings and blocks.

- (talk page stalker) Sure. Create an account on this wiki under a different name but with the same password and e-mail address. Edit your talk page on the German Wikipedia and get the diff link. Then file a username usurpation request at WP:CHUU, following the instructions and providing the diff link to show that you hold the global account. Since you are are trying to unify global login, the seven day waiting period is waived, so the response should be quick. Then you should be able to complete the unification using Special:MergeAccount. PleaseStand (talk) 08:58, 25 June 2010 (UTC)

Some bot users might not want/need to use SVN. For one thing, not everyone likes to use Linux or even the Windows command line, so they would probably end up using TortoiseSVN, which involves unnecessary hassle. It's just easier to let them download it; MediaWiki.org provides a tar.gz for that very reason. OK, I'll head over to IRC. Here's a possible logo for $wgLogo, by the way. - Cool, thanks. I got the rped plugin to work, so it's tested and ready to commit. What's the full svn command that I should use to check out the code in a way that will let me commit? (With mw:Commit_access#Getting_started_and_set_up, you have to use svn+ssh; if you just use the http://, it won't let you commit.) Is there anything else I need to do, like change ~/.ssh/id_rsa.pub? Thanks, Tisane talk/stalk 06:09, 30 June 2010 (UTC)
- The instructions are at http://code.google.com/p/mw-peachy/source/checkout (X! · talk) · @498 · 10:57, 30 June 2010 (UTC)
- Oh, OK. The instructions for the https didn't appear at first because I wasn't logged in. It's all good now. Thx Tisane talk/stalk 17:37, 30 June 2010 (UTC)

image protection
The MPUpload bot is protecting main page images with a protection time of indefinite. Shouldn't it be for only 24 hours? —Preceding unsigned comment added by DGG (talk • contribs) 16:49, 16 June 2010 (UTC)
