Speed Skating
Hello, I've noticed you've had an interest in speed skating articles. Would you be interested in joining a WikiProject for the sport? I created a proposal where you can vote to support or oppose the creation of such a project! See it here: Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Proposals/Speed Skating. oncamera(t) 04:02, 4 October 2010 (UTC)

Canadian VCs
Hi Krazytea, I have left a few comments at Talk:List of Canadian Victoria Cross recipients#Province of Origin about the recent changes to the list. There are a few issues with the data in its current form that need to be fixed asap. I would be happy to help but I am still unsure as to how you have actually gone about defining the province of origin. That is something that needs to be explained on the talkpage and then put in the lead. Regards, Woody (talk) 11:28, 9 December 2010 (UTC)

One source is sufficient and was added to the top of the page. You do not need to source every single team. Your edits also undid other edits previously done and they now have to be redone.

USL Premier Development League Map
Hey there. I noticed that on December 13, you edited the map for the USL PDL to include Manitoba. I was wondering if you could fix the map to include the Western Mass Pioneers, who's state (Massachusetts) isn't currently highlighted on the map. I'd do it myself, but I'd probably screw it all up, use the wrong color red, or accidentally delete it. MAINEiac4434 (talk) 01:07, 29 December 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks man. I'd hate to force you to do this again, but the US States of Kentucky and Maryland are also getting an expansion teams (something I probably should've noticed before my original message was posted). Feel free to highlight them as well, whenever you can get to it :) MAINEiac4434 (talk) 01:25, 29 December 2010 (UTC)

Manitoba templates and incumbency
Hello. I notice you've been adjusting some templates from Manitoba elections. I don't have a problem with this as such, but can I ask why you're removing the "(x)" symbols that designate incumbency? CJCurrie (talk) 23:42, 15 April 2011 (UTC)
- Just been trying to standardise the templates with those such as Papineau (electoral district) and Trinity—Spadina. It really makes the template cleaner which is primarily why the reason they are removed. Generally the election boxes are found are on two places; the electoral district page and the candidate page. For this reason the incumbent information is readily available on both of the pages as you can see where and when the candidate served and for how long. I have noticed that some boxes used an * at the end of the name but generally speaking it is not found as much anymore. So anyways I have been moving in the modernist and standard direction for now. Krazytea(talk) 06:39, 16 April 2011 (UTC)
- Hello again. I should apologize for not responding sooner; I was offline for a few days. I take the points that you've made, but I also think keeping the incumbency symbols has a few advantages:
- (i) Some defeated political candidates are notable enough (for other reasons) to be the subjects of individual biography pages. In these cases, the "(x)" mark provides a context that would otherwise be lacking. (See for instance Daniel Fournier and Leo-Paul Lauzon.)
- (ii) The "(x)" mark also provides context in situations where a politician has been elected over an incumbent. (See for instance Alain Garant.) I realize that this information can also be added to the article text, but it strikes me as more convenient in the electoral record section.
- I should add that the information on pages like Papineau (electoral district) and Trinity—Spadina is taken directly from the Parliament of Canada website, which doesn't use the incumbency designation. I've never regarded this site as the best source for Canadian Wikipedians to use: some of the numbers it provides for the 1988 and 1993 elections are incorrect (when contrasted with official Elections Canada returns), and it has a formatting error that in rare circumstances cuts off the names of certain defeated candidates. The site is mostly acceptable despite these problems, but I've never regarded it as setting any sort of permanent precedent that we need to follow.
- I wonder if we should bring this up on the Canadian Wikipedians' notice board instead of continuing to move in different directions. (I should clarify that I don't consider the matter important enough to have a full-scale edit war over ... but I think it's important enough that we should have an open discussion before removing the designation entirely.) CJCurrie (talk) 05:45, 22 April 2011 (UTC)
- Ya to be honest I'm good with whatever, I mean I am really minimal in how I liked things designed so I guess that has come into play with why I preferred the PoC version. I would not really be that upset if we switched back to the (x) But I guess I have just found it a little clumsy when it comes to the elect boxes. I wouldn't mind getting a third opinion I guess just for the added dialogue? Either way I will leave it in your good hands to decide. Krazytea(talk) 07:08, 22 April 2011 (UTC)

Flags in sister cities sections
Hi, I noticed you undid some of my edits. Per WP:MOSICON we do not use flags for decoration, which these instances clearly are. The specific issue of flags for sister cities was fairly thoroughly put to bed here. As regards your actions in reverting without a real rationale, you may wish to read Wikipedia:Don't revert due solely to "no consensus" before continuing with this. It would certainly be appreciated if you could drop an editor a note whose edits you revert rather than purely communicating via edit summaries. Thanks a lot for your attention. --John (talk) 05:50, 26 April 2012 (UTC)
- Hey John, no worries on the de-flagging but this has been discussed before and was not resolved. Issue arose here with some resolution Template talk:Infobox settlement/Archive 21#Proposed_compromise. We could reopen the debate specifically to sister cities and flags if you are interested. Krazytea(talk) 18:59, 26 April 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks for your reply. Before I look at your link, have you looked at mine? I think it is a pretty conclusive consensus. Let me now look at yours but before I do so, can I ask if you actually think these flags achieve anything? --John (talk) 20:14, 26 April 2012 (UTC)
- I've now looked at your link which concerns a related but distinct subject. My link concerns the actual subject we are discussing, and is more recent. I think I will reinstate my edits now if you have no objections. Do you? --John (talk) 20:16, 26 April 2012 (UTC)
- To be honest, I do not see how these flags are being used for A.) decoration or B.) where in the MOS regarding flags it says that they should not be used in the education manner that they are being used in this case. I may be completely stupid (which I admit is entirely possible) but I cannot find where your usage applies in the links provided? The talk section I provided specific and lengthy discussion on the sister city matter where as the flag icon date provided by yourself contains nothing pertaining to this or the use of flag icon in community infoboxes. To be fair I did not read it all but did search using finder with no results.
- The reason I reverted was that others had raised concerns, in which case they were reverted. I do not see the clarity on the matter at this time from your perspective. Though this is a small issue I would still leave it open to debate and would recommend a re-opening of discussion on one of the channels if you wish to revert. Those are just my thoughts though. Krazytea(talk) 22:43, 26 April 2012 (UTC)
- Ok, well how about you read the link I sent you in full. It was an RfC about flag icons on sister cities and it roundly rejected this usage. Now check the edits you reverted. They were of flag icons on sister cities lists. Where are infoboxes relevant to this? --John (talk) 23:06, 26 April 2012 (UTC)
- Can you cite exactly the part for me directly pertaining to sister cities because I am not seeing it. I am not trying to be difficult I just cannot find it. Krazytea(talk) 23:59, 26 April 2012 (UTC)
- It's the very first item on the page. The heading is Flag and sub-national flag icon usage. The question is "Should flag icons of sub national and national countries be used in sister city sections to provide understanding of the location of the city?" There are then 11 editors against, 3 in favour and one neutral. More to the point, there was never any corresponding agreement or rationale to use flag icons like this in the first place. As I have asked you a couple of times now, what purpose do you think they served? --John (talk) 05:11, 27 April 2012 (UTC)
My impression of the flag icons in the section for "Sister Cities" is a sign of respect for the countries to which the cities belong. Speaking for Winnipeg only, I know from personal experience that this city is extremely proud of its multicultural heritage. Winnipeg is the home of Folklorama, the largest and longest running multicultural event of its kind in the world! People here still maintain strong ties to their culture and heritage from other nations.
Since partnerships between cities are a matter of mutual respect and cooperation, it only seems natural that one would acknowledge the flag of the country with which one is allied by a "sister city" agreement. As I am familiar with most flags of the world, through my elementary geographical education, it is a delight for me to see the flag that these countries so proudly fly in their homeland, and which I am also honored to display in conjunction with the mutual bond we have forged through such an alliance. This is the stuff that encourages world peace, as opposed to xenophobia and narrow-minded bigotry that view "other" countries' flags with disdain. So, I support and encourage the use of flags to denote with pride that we have an association with other countries.
Far from a "decoration", I think this helps to educate and enlighten the person who comes across this flag. Indeed, it makes the world a more hospitable place to recognize that each country has something to be proud of, and the flag is only a small token of that. If anyone objects to showing a small representation of a flag beside a country's name, then let them change their preferences in Wikipedia to "not show flag icons." That option is available >> here <<, if one is that inclined to abhorrence of other flags. --Skol fir (talk) 08:42, 27 April 2012 (UTC)
- Skol fir, thank you for your contribution. I am glad you like flags. I like flags too. At the moment, there is a project-wide consensus not to use flags in the way you describe. This is because using the icons is seen to overemphasise these sections and overemphasise the countries. Is it really that significant what the flag of a country which has formed a twinning arrangement with a city in Canada looks like? Someone wishing to see the flag needs only to click through to the article on the country to see it. To the rest of us, these arrays of tiny flag icons are just a distraction. Other problems include (but are not limited to): which icons to use for cities like Edinburgh , Scotland or UK? Would we have edit wars between nationalists on both sides over which flag to use (this is not hypothetical, it really used to happen when we used flags this way)? What flag would we use for historical associations with countries like South Africa which have changed their flags? How do we distinguish similar-looking flags like Australia and New Zealand? For all these reasons it has been agreed for a good while to minimise such use of flags, with sport and military battles being the two main exceptions. The situation regarding sister cities was recently clarified in the RfC which I referred to above. If you wished to challenge this, your best bet would be to start a new discussion at the talk page of the relevant Manual of Style page. Thanks for caring about flag use on Wikipedia. --John (talk) 09:01, 27 April 2012 (UTC)
- John, with all due respect, Wikipedia does not need your sarcasm. --Skol fir (talk) 09:14, 27 April 2012 (UTC)
- Nothing I wrote above was intended to be sarcastic and I apologise if it came across that way. Every word I wrote was intended seriously and literally, and I suggest you answer it (if at all) with that in mind. --John (talk) 11:15, 27 April 2012 (UTC)
- Apology accepted! Now look at this: Talk:Edinburgh/Archive_2#Flags and in particular note this quote "As per above, there are numerous articles using flags in the twinned town section. WP:FLAGS says There are plenty of tasks that improve Wikipedia more than adding flags to infoboxes. There are also plenty of better things to do than go and remove them from every single article using them, and then getting involved in the ensuing row on the talk page." My point exactly. --Skol fir (talk) 16:42, 27 April 2012 (UTC)
- Nothing I wrote above was intended to be sarcastic and I apologise if it came across that way. Every word I wrote was intended seriously and literally, and I suggest you answer it (if at all) with that in mind. --John (talk) 11:15, 27 April 2012 (UTC)
- John, with all due respect, Wikipedia does not need your sarcasm. --Skol fir (talk) 09:14, 27 April 2012 (UTC)
- The following discussion is also mentioned in that section: Request for Comment:Which flag(s) should accompany Edinburgh?. There the resolution was actually to remove the flags per Wangi's proposal and Ckatz's specification. It seemed to revolve around "Edinburgh". A more recent discussion is also informative. --Skol fir (talk) 16:42, 27 April 2012 (UTC)
- To summarize, I suggest that all flag icons be left in place where no controversy exists. As soon as there is a whiff of a war brewing, we scrap them at that page only. Also, there is nothing to challenge at WP:MOSICON because it never once mentions "Sister Cities", which is a separate case where two cities acknowledge each other's countries of origin without making an issue out of it. I think it is like a rubber stamp. We are saying - "You have a right to be proud of your country." - and that right is mutual. --Skol fir (talk) 17:04, 27 April 2012 (UTC)
- Though I do not argue entirely as Skol on the pride factor, I do point out that there is an education point of view in that A.) They show the reader where that country and city are from and B.) if they cannot identify the flag, familiarity in casual reading with the flags and country name will give them that ability. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia and this is the way to educate. Though I know that people argue they are cluttersome and distracting since these appear at the very bottom of the article it is hard to say how distracting and cluttersome these really are. In the end I would say that the education outweighs the negative aspects then some. It is really not that different from flag use in sports articles or summaries. Thanks for the clarification, I thought it would have been easier to add sequentially as the medal was awarded and by the end of the games just to sort them out. Height and Weight
Hi,
I've reverted the removal of the year for the height and weight documented in the infobox at Mark McMorris. These are supposed to be part of the data in the infobox. Have a look at the documentation for {{Infobox sportsperson}}. I also fixed up the infobox for Sebastien Toutant; you missed removing the archiveURL which was pointing to Mark McMorris. I've generated a proper archive and added it in. Regards. Whpq (talk) 13:52, 3 February 2013 (UTC)
- Hey since it is not really a big deal but the height and weight dating is used for those who have not reached an adult height. While it is a grey area where young men are in life at the 19-20 age, generally speaking they are considered adult which is why they are not dated at that age. This can often be observed by convention in articles across Wikipedia. Though I would not remove the age now if you like, they should be removed within a year or two since the heights will have leveled off by this point and weight changes will be minimal in sports, especially in one like snowboarding. Cheers, Krazytea(talk) 19:16, 3 February 2013 (UTC)
- In the case of McMorris, the height and weight have undergone recent changes. See the spate of changes in the article history on 20 July 2012. Regards. - Whpq (talk) 12:04, 4 February 2013 (UTC)

- Hello again, and thanks for your support on the RM.
- Can I trouble you again for a piece of advice? I'm having problems with the vocabulary on the above pages, please see
- (I haven't worked with the other pages yet).
- The problem is what each "race weekend" should be called. We have races and distances, and somebody wins the cup (or event?). So far I've called it an "occasion". In the RM I've suggested "Competition 1", etc, and that is what ISU refers to them as. Maybe I should use that. What do you think?
- Your input would be appreciated.

freestyle skiing Olympic qualifying
what is the evidence that Canada has, as you say, "achieved the following quota places." The fis makes no such claim, they provide a "virtual" look at how the allocations would be right now, which is not the same thing at all. That would be similar to crediting NHL teams with playoff berths with twenty games left in the season wouldn't it?18abruce (talk) 18:21, 11 December 2013 (UTC)
- Since freestyle quotas are dispensed by ranking like here it is quite transparent by the math that many of said quotas are not yet achieved. If you see value in calculating who has actually assured their noc of an Olympic berth then I could try that, but that would be getting into original research territory. I adjusted the wording on the 2014 Canadian Olympic page to better reflect accuracy, but did not want to compromise any of the work you did today.18abruce (talk) 00:38, 12 December 2013 (UTC)

2013 Spengler Cup wiki
Greetings. I hope you don't mind, but I wanted to try something with the team logos that appeared on the page yesterday. I do agree that it had too many icons on it (two icons for one piece of data IS too much!), so this is what I did (and again, no malice is intended here):
I reversed the edit to see if there was a way to reduce the number of icons on the page. I thought about it, and decided to leave the flag icons in the participating teams section, but remove them everywhere else in favour of the team logos. Personally, I believe it makes the page look better, but as I stated when the edit was reversed, if that is not allowed, then I will reverse the edit I made regarding the team logos. No problem here at all. Caperspark (talk) 12:36, 30 December 2013 (UTC)

Ways to improve Chris Robanske
Hi, I'm King Of The Wise. Krazytea, thanks for creating Chris Robanske!
I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. Try expanding this article. The article is but about a modern still-competing sportsperson. There will be much more information about him on net. Try writing about hi earlier career and do write how he performs in these olympics. Thnx :)
The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on my talk page. Or, for more editing help, talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse. King Of The Wise (talk) 15:17, 8 February 2014 (UTC)

Just FYI
Not a big deal at all - But in responses to this edit summary - the MOS for Canadian articles tells our editors "It is also not necessary for an article to provide a continual tally of intercensal updates for every year between federal censuses—only the current year's figure needs to be provided. The updated figures can be provided in the article body, but for the sake of consistency across all municipalities, the infobox's population = field should reflect the federal census figure." Many see this as meaning no estimates in the infobox. -- Moxy (talk) 23:07, 2 April 2014 (UTC)

Canadian Olympic swimmers (!)
Hey, Krazytea. Thanks for the "thanks" on the Ryan Cochrane article. Having previously worked through the American and Aussie Olympic swimmers, I'm now plodding through the Canadians A through Z, updating them to the current standardized version of Template:Infobox swimmer, and imposing a measure of uniform formatting on the 216 articles in Category:Olympic swimmers of Canada. While it includes its share of one-hit wonders, the category also includes some of the greatest Olympic athletes Canada has ever produced, and most of these articles really could use some in-depth work. Sources for Olympic results are readily available, and we have Wikipedia articles that fill in the swimming medal history for the Commonwealth Games, Pan American Games and Pan Pacific Championships -- it would be nice if we could build all of them into solid C or B-class articles with every factual statement footnoted, etc. Any chance you would be interested in helping? After I finish updating the Canadian infoboxes, I'm moving on to do the same thing for the 260+ British Olympic swimmers . . . it may be months before I circle back to the Canadians again, but I'm certainly willing to help if someone else has the time now. Wikipedia 15 in Winnipeg
Wikipedia is celebrating its 15th birthday on January 15, 2016. I have thought for a while that it would be neat to meet some local wikipedians. According to the wikipedians in Winnipeg or Wikipedians in Manitoba category you are one of us. I am contacting people in this category to say: Let's celebrate this milestone. If you know other wikipedians, please ask them to join in as well.
I am posting this to your talk page as a transclude so that any updates will show up automatically.
Hope to see you there! Tenbergen (talk) 04:46, 22 December 2015 (UTC)

New 10,000 Challenge for Canada
Hi, Wikipedia:WikiProject Canada/The 10,000 Challenge is up and running based on Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge for the UK which has currently produced over 2300 article improvements and creations. If you'd like to see large scale quality improvements happening for Canada like The Africa Destubathon, which has produced over 1600 articles in 5 weeks, sign up on the page. The idea will be an ongoing national editathon/challenge for Canada but fuelled by a contest such as The North America Destubathon to really get articles on every province and subject mass improved. I would like some support from Canadian wikipedians here to get the Challenge off to a start with some articles to make doing a Destubathon worthwhile! Rollback granted
Hi Krazytea. After reviewing your request for "rollbacker", I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:
- Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
- Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
- Rollback should never be used to edit war.
- If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
- Use common sense.
If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:Administrators' guide/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. - I removed section on "Intimate Violence" (domestic violence) from the terrorism article. Also, if you check my history you will see that I don't really engage in vandalism or edit warring. If I am removing something I will leave an explanation of why on talk and in my edit summaries. Football club banners
I'm afraid but something discussed and decided by 3-4 people on Wikipedia does not constitute to breaking any rules. Moreover displaying club colors is keeping in line with the format followed by every other Premier League club with the Chelsea page just keeping in line with the format. For your reference please have a look at the following pages of the current Premier League club pages covering this season: 2019–20 Arsenal F.C. season, 2019–20 Aston Villa F.C. season, 2019–20 A.F.C. Bournemouth season, 2019–20 Brighton & Hove Albion F.C. season, 2019–20 Burnley F.C. season, 2019–20 Crystal Palace F.C. season, 2019–20 Everton F.C. season, 2019–20 Leicester City F.C. season, 2019–20 Liverpool F.C. season, 2019–20 Manchester City F.C. season, 2019–20 Newcastle United F.C. season, 2019–20 Norwich City F.C. season, 2019–20 Sheffield United F.C. season, 2019–20 Tottenham Hotspur F.C. season, 2019–20 Watford F.C. season, 2019–20 West Ham United F.C. season and 2019–20 Wolverhampton Wanderers F.C. season. - Nah I get what you were trying to say mate. But I did believe that every club could display their club colors as banner as I had seen it on majority of the pages and personally I did feel it did add a bit of personal touch to every clubs page. But I do understand what you were trying to say and am fine with any decision that is taken. And also I'm sorry for the vandalism claim I'd made. I've gone ahead and removed the vandalism warning I had put in the paragraph above as I was just getting a bit pissed since there are vandalisms that do occur everyday but yours clearly wasn't. Wuhan virus - "mainland China"
Hi Krazytea. I meant to say, take your proposal to the template's talk page (rather than my personal talk page).
I don't personally care. But I know there are past editors who do care, and who think they know how it should be, and I'd rather this didn't start another edit war. (While the history of this table looks short right now, it was originally part of the main Wuhan outbreak article, and it created a surprising amount of controversy while there.) Jw 193 (talk) 19:29, 29 January 2020 (UTC)
Mainland China
Hey, I’ll repost my comment on Admanny’s talk page here. I think we should revert to using "Mainland China" for the sake of consistency with other articles. The template seems to be the only one using "China (mainland)" out of all the COVID-19 articles. I'm personally against using "Mainland China" or "China (mainland)" (it makes no difference really), but I think we should at least be consistent. Either use "China (mainland)" on all articles, or revert back to "Mainland China". Hayman30 (talk) 08:35, 26 February 2020 (UTC)
- If others are changing it on the different pages it should be reverted to China (mainland). The discussion in the mediated intervention was to use this not just on the template but across the related pages. The information is archived on page history [[1]]. There is no sense having this conversation for the tenth time in my opinion. Personally I would prefer to revert to China but that is just me. FYI, in the recent WHO releases, there is not a single mention of a mainland China. Krazytea(talk) 16:12, 26 February 2020 (UTC)

Carole Baskin
Don't add rumors about Carole Baskin, per WP:BLP. Don Lewis' estranged ex-wife and kids, who are obviously still upset that he left for Carole, are not a reliable source. Nice4What (talk · contribs) – (Don't forget to share a Thanks ♥) 13:44, 1 April 2020 (UTC)
- Careful of Crying "BLP!". Citing information about the disappearance of Don Lewis by the Tampa Bay Times, the paper of record for the area, is a very different matter. Including sensational material about sex addiction, menstration, etc, do you see how this could potential insert bias into the article? "Just the facts ma'am" is an important line of distinction. So my question here is this, do you see that you could be tilting a article towards a singular view on the disappearance of a person which quite frankly has become one of the most prominent cold cases over the last couple of weeks. Adding information from the Sheriff's office on a lie detector test is neither rumour nor sensationalism. It is a direct statement of facts from a paper of record and neither accuses Baskin of anything, aside from stating that she did not take a lie detector test.
- Again inserting material such as accusations of sex addiction, avoiding someone because of ovulation, etc, is fine as long is it has enough qualified sources and as long as these are not presenting a singular view in a highly disputed case. Krazytea(talk) 15:06, 1 April 2020 (UTC)
- I have no problem with including the lie detector as it is a fact, it was just presented as the "last action" of the case which isn't true. Nice4What (talk · contribs) – (Don't forget to share a Thanks ♥) 16:02, 1 April 2020 (UTC)
- Fair enough, I was just following the source at Tampa Bay Times. Krazytea(talk) 16:36, 1 April 2020 (UTC)
Quinn and "singular they"
Hey – just making sure you're understanding the "singular they" usage correctly. It just means that the pronoun they is referring to one single person; it doesn't mean that you would ever conjugate any verb in its singular form combined with a they pronoun (e.g., always "they are..." even when the they refers to a single person, never "they is..."). Seany91 (talk) 08:17, 23 September 2020 (UTC)
- I agree completely. In this case in reference to the initial comment in the talk section, they commented about changing it to "they are Canadian soccer players". Krazytea(talk) 16:09, 23 September 2020 (UTC)
- Got it! You comment was directly following mine so I thought the "No" from you was directed to me. Cheers. Seany91 (talk) 07:35, 24 September 2020 (UTC)

Rural Municipality of Whitemouth
Hi, thanks for your feedback regarding this recent edit. The copy/paste merge I think is a first step... I intend to go over the Elma portion and cut it down as most of it is unsourced and of questionable notability. I believe that with this in mind, a separate article is unneccessary. I invite you to join me at Talk:Rural Municipality of Whitemouth to discuss. 162.208.168.92 (talk) 02:21, 17 December 2020 (UTC)
