Enzyme inhibitoreditHi Willow. It is great to see that you are active again. Enzyme inhibitor is undergoing a article review and I am trying to bring it back to FA level. I see that you were an signficant contributor to this FA article and I am hoping that you can help me, particularily with the sourcing. Dissociation constants section contains some formulas to which look very reasonble, but I have been unable to track down a source that supports this exact formulation. Equation P3 in NBK92001 comes close, but it doesin't include both alpha and alpha'. Do you have a relavant citation for this section? Cheers. Boghog (talk) 11:39, 9 April 2022 (UTC)
MOLMOL Protein Ribbon Rainbow FigureseditHi Willow. I hope this message finds you well. I hope this is how I'm supposed to leave a message here and apologies if I've done it incorrectly. I wanted to message you because I noticed some wonderful-looking rainbow protein ribbon models you've uploaded in the past using the MOLMOL molecular viewer. I have this program too and have some experience using it. However, after looking through the manual and attempting an exhaustive search online, I cannot find a way to color protein ribbons by rainbow (from N-C terminus as you have done) and I was wondering if you could explain the steps by which you achieved that coloration if that is okay with you. Thank you in advance! BiomedicineLover (talk) 23:12, 12 June 2022 (UTC)
Structural studies of enzymeseditIf I understand the history correctly, you were the editor who included the section on Structural Studies in Sulfinoalanine decarboxylase and similar sections in many other enzyme articles. Unfortunately, however, Late 2007 is getting on for 15 years ago and no one seems to have updated the information since then. It seems to me that anyone who needs this information can find it in up-to-date form by following the PDB links in the infoboxes. So I'm wondering if these sections still fulfil a need. What do you think? Athel cb (talk) 15:14, 25 July 2022 (UTC) File:Apollonius circle definition labels.png listed for discussioneditArbCom 2022 Elections voter messageeditHello! Voting in the 2022 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 12 December 2022. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate in the 2022 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add Bibliographies of CatulluseditHello! I saw on Talk:Catullus/References/talk that you were largely responsible for compiling the bibliographies for individual poems on Catullus for Wikipedia's articles. I've been working on List of bibliographies of works on Catullus and thought you might possibly have thoughts; I've submitted it to be a featured list candidate and so would greatly appreciate any feedback or reviews if you happen to have any thoughts, but mostly I just thought you might want to know that the sources you've compiled on Wikipedia have been themselves cited a few times as a bibliography -- in an Italian edition of his Carmina and in the original Oxford Bibliography of Catullus. I realize Catullus might not one of your current editing interests on Wikipedia, but thought that this still might be of interest to you. :) Umimmak (talk) 22:17, 8 December 2022 (UTC) Universe has been nominated for a good article reassessment. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 07:19, 1 June 2023 (UTC) Wikisource contributionseditHello. I just noticed you became active again on wikipedia in 2021. (As of now no new contributions after June 2022 though, so I don't know your current status.) The main reason for seeking contact: on Wikisource there is your translation of the second addendum to Leonard Euler's 'Methodus inveniendi' That translation is of great value to me. I have created an educational resource for the following: instances of Calculus of Variations application in physics. ( Calculus of Variations ) For the introduction of Calculus of Variations I use the following two cases as motivating examples: the soap-film-stretching-between-two-parallel-concentric-rings problem, and the catenary problem. The surface areea of the soap film is a minimal surface. Also, it is a surface of revolution, so the problem can be treated as a 2-dimensional problem. The minimal surface problem and the catenary problem have the same solution: the function that describes the shape is the hyperbolic cosine function. Interestingly: Leibniz had already solved the catenary problem. (More than a century before the introduction of calculus of variations by Euler.) Leibniz had solved it using differential calculus. What that means is that the catenary problem is a Rosetta stone for the relation between differential calculus and calculus of variations. As far as I can tell very little has been written about Maupertuis' action concept. Hamilton's stationary action superseded Maupertuis' action concept. As far as I'm aware of: Maupertuis' action concept was never used by physicists. In his work 'Mechanique Analytique' Joseph Louis Lagrange argued that for mechanics Maupertuis' action was of no particular relevance. According to Lagrange: Maupertuis' action concept is, if anything, a corrolary rather than a principle. I concur with that assessment. Your translation of the second addendum to the 'Methodus inveniendi' is one of very few resources for Maupertuis' action concept. I hope you may be interested in exchanging ideas about application of calculus of variations in physics.
