Traditionalism task force

edit

Hi! I've noticed that you're very active at creating and maintaining pages on traditionalist authors. Say: would you be interested in joining a "Traditionalism task force" if one were mounted? It could go under the umbrella of either the WikiProject Philosophy or the WikiProject Religion (I myself think it going under the Philosophy one is better, as all traditionalists, from Guénon onwards, deal primarily with philosophical matters and only secondarily with specific religious subjects).

The practical benefit would be allowing for a better organization of efforts concerning things such as: obtaining free photos to add to the biographies; standardizing biography formatting; prioritizing the (huge) list of articles that should be written, specially non-biographical ones; finding articles that would benefit from some good Traditionalist-based criticisms, as I did in the Spiritism one; and so on and so forth.

What do you think? -- alexgieg (talk) 02:40, 14 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for replying. Since we're in agreement, later today or tomorrow I'll place a proposal on WP Philosophy for a task force to be formed. This could take some days, and once it's formed we can start organizing the work around it. But nothing prevents us from doing what we're already doing until then.
As for what I'm good at, I think currently it's more editing stuff: categorization, formatting clean up, reorganizing texts around some standard, adding infoboxes, these things. I'm still in the very start of my traditionalist studies, so I don't have much on what to base full fledged articles. On the other hand, this might actually be a good thing, as I could write articles on specific books by Guénon etc. as I went about reading them. In fact, I think I'll do just that. :-) -- alexgieg (talk) 17:17, 15 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Tipi.jpg)

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Tipi.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:11, 10 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Unreferenced BLPs

edit

Hello Temp07! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 2 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring these articles up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 4 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:

  1. Brian Keeble - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL
  2. Samdhong Rinpoche - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL

Non-free rationale for File:Swami Ramdas.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Swami Ramdas.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. ArbCom elections are now open!

edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
