Hello, How are you. I'm literally after creating this just so i can fix some pet peeves of mine.
Nice to meet you Richie, I'm not expecting to become a wiki expert or anything. But would love some feedback on my recent edits (i clicked on minor edit checkbox by mistake). Otherwise I hope to create a Good article someday. would be kinda cool.
Could you explain how edits work? are they basically submitted for review to a panel? users with high scores? And if i were to create a page, do i basically own it? and have to screen new edits or something?
Apologies for all the questions, feel free to ask me any.
Cheers. 𒎙
P.S. Do I get to join a secret club now? lol --U+12399 (talk) 01:05, 3 November 2024 (UTC)
- Hi, I'm not sure what the issue is here, but once you make an edit to the encyclopedia, it is automatically added to the article and stored as the latest revision. The only exception to this is if the article is protected against editing, but you'd get a message saying this at the time. It's possible your edit may get reverted at some point later (this happens to everybody once in a while, including me, and is a normal part of the editing process) but again you'd get notified if that is the case. Certainly, this edit, confirming Claude Shannon's appointment to the Royal Irish Academy, is a good edit.
Your user page can contain a short bit about what articles you like to edit, and what motivates you to participate in the project. I personally wouldn't put in any personal information, or anything you don't mind being distributed all over the internet. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 13:11, 4 November 2024 (UTC)

- @Ajones85: This is an encyclopedia. It is not a general help forum. You may want to look at Wikipedia:Alternative outlets for other options. Just Step Sideways from this world ..... today 23:41, 7 November 2024 (UTC)
Brighton meetup: 23 November

Waterloo station
editYour denialism that Waterloo is located in South London, even if you have removed central, is in conflict with the facts. We know that Waterloo in its entirety is located in the London Borough of Lambeth, while that article speaks for itself and clearly states that it is a south London borough. --Epsom Badboy (talk) 17:33, 12 November 2024 (UTC)
- It's also in Travelcard Zone 1, which is a shorthand for "central London", certainly in terms of fare prices. I also removed the location entirely as a compromise, because this doesn't seem to be anything worth arguing about. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 18:11, 12 November 2024 (UTC)
Reminder to participate in Wikipedia research
editHello,
I recently invited you to take a survey about administration on Wikipedia. If you haven’t yet had a chance, there is still time to participate– we’d truly appreciate your feedback. The survey is anonymous and should take about 10-15 minutes to complete. You may read more about the study on its Meta page and view its privacy statement.
Take the survey here.
Kind Regards,
Hi Ritchie333. I don't mean to be argumentative, but would you mind checking your reversion of my recent edit to The Yes Album and explain a couple of things? First, i didn't add Discogs as a source, so referring to WP:RSDISCOGS in your summary is a bit...insulting, especially as Discogs is still there as a reference in the exact cite you reverted; maybe you intended to remove it altogether? Second, far as i can tell you have put back an incorrect CS1 template, as "Cite AV media notes" is used to create citations for print liner notes from albums, DVDs, CDs and similar audio-visual media
(quoting from its documentation), not an external website such as Discogs. I'd be grateful if you'd either explain mine error or check your action ~ LindsayHello 11:34, 14 November 2024 (UTC)
- Oh right, I missed that the discogs link was hidden away in a reference template, so I mistakenly assumed you'd added it. I seem to remember having a discussion about this particular factoid years ago with Martinevans123 about some obscure Italian pressing; however as I don't think we've got a really good source to show that this is a vital piece of information for the article, so I'm mindful of removing the whole paragraph from the article. Actually, I've just done that; as this is supposed to be a good article, the sourcing should be of a sufficiently high standard in the first place. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 11:39, 14 November 2024 (UTC)
- I don't remember ever previously discussing this... but it's quite possible. I see no problem with using images of covers or labels at discogs as sources. I'm assuming that label for Side 2 actually matches the track sequence when the record is played? But in this case the details might be classed as unwanted trivia since, as far as I know, they are a bit inconsequential. No strong view. Martinevans123 (talk) 11:48, 14 November 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks for that. Removing the whole thing was probably the best solution ~ though it's trivia and not essential, it is still amusing that the title was printed incorrectly on the album cover itself; be nice if we had an RS to verify it ~ LindsayHello 11:59, 14 November 2024 (UTC)
- Like I said, I tend to trust images at discogs (the can be used as lead images in infoboxes after all?) and can't really see how or why they could be easily faked. Martinevans123 (talk) 12:07, 14 November 2024 (UTC)
- I think the more salient point is if the only place you can find the information is an image on discogs, you might wonder why no other sources have bothered to cover it. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 12:12, 14 November 2024 (UTC)
- Because it's muso trivia lol. Martinevans123 (talk) 12:39, 14 November 2024 (UTC)

editHello! Voting in the 2024 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 2 December 2024. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.
The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
If you wish to participate in the 2024 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}}

Question from Starlife4me (13:41, 19 November 2024)
editHi! I'd like to create a wikipage about the 500 Year Plan. This is a plan that would put humanity on track to obtain 3 objectives by the end of 500 years. These objectives are: 1 billion people living on Mars, the Moon, and Ceres each Average life span of a person is 300 years long with the health and vitality of a 40 year old for most of that time All necessities of life (shelter, food, water, oxygen, education, healthcare, etc are free)
I want anyone to be able to edit the plan so that we can come up with achievable goals and milestones via crowdsourcing.
How do I go about doing this? I'm not sure how to proceed.
Thank you! --Starlife4me (talk) 13:41, 19 November 2024 (UTC)
- I seem to have missed this question the first time round, but my general advice would be to not create an article on a topic until you've had some experience in updating or improving existing articles first. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 14:21, 26 November 2024 (UTC)

Invitation to provide feedback
editInspired by Worm That Turned's re-RfA where he noted administrators don't get a lot of feedback or suggestions for improvement, I have decided to solicit feedback. I'm reaching out to you as you are currently one of the users I've selected as part of my recall process. I hope you will consider taking a few moments to fill out my feedback form. Clicking on the link will load the questions and create a new section on my user talk. Thanks for your consideration. Best, Barkeep49 (talk) 16:03, 2 December 2024 (UTC)
