ArbCom 2024 Elections voter message

edit

Hello! Voting in the 2024 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 2 December 2024. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2024 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:26, 19 November 2024 (UTC)Reply

Proxies

edit

Hi, those IPs are all proxies. Long-term, hard blocks are advisable. Best, HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 18:50, 26 November 2024 (UTC)Reply

@HJ Mitchell Ah, thanks for the info. I have a meeting in 5 minutes. You are welcome to update the blocks if you wish. Otherwise I'll try to get to them afterwards.
Is there a specific way to tell if they are proxies? EvergreenFir (talk) 18:53, 26 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
I've upgraded the two I spotted. I didn't go looking for any others. I'm not stalking your block log, just watching AIV! ;) You can click the "proxy checker" link in the toolbar at the bottom of the contribs page, which opens this Toolforge tool. It can be hit and miss but it's pretty good at picking up these VPNGate IPs, though with this particular person it's safe to assume any IP they're using is an open proxy.
