Franz Kafka died 100 years ago OTD, hence the story. I uploaded a few pics from the visit of Graham87. -- Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:35, 3 June 2024 (UTC)
- Gerda Arendt Thanks so much for sharing your updates. Love the story of Franz Kafka and your photos - and I think that one of the places, Ehrenbach, was the home of some of my relatives many hundreds of years ago. I always love the information that you share. Thanks for catching that I am back! I hope you are doing well. Such pretty roses!–CaroleHenson (talk) 22:05, 3 June 2024 (UTC)

- Yes! - Today is "the day" for James Joyce, also for Bach's fourth chorale cantata (and why does it come before the third?) - the new pics have a mammal I had to look up --Gerda Arendt (talk) 19:06, 16 June 2024 (UTC)
- New pics of food and flowers come with the story of Noye's Fludde (premiered on 18 June), written by Brian Boulton. I nominated Éric Tappy because he died, and it needs support today! I nominated another women for GA in the Women in Green June run, - review welcome, and more noms planned. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 13:14, 18 June 2024 (UTC)

Pictured on the Main page: Brian's Mozart family grand tour, my story today, and Mozart related to all three items of music on my talk: our 2023 concert, an opera in a theatre where a Mozart premiere took place, and those remembered, Martti Wallén, a bass, and Liana Isakadze, a violinist from Georgia (whose article would be better with more details about her music-making). -- Gerda Arendt (talk) 11:02, 9 July 2024 (UTC)
Today's story is about an outstanding violinist from Georgia, which is a sad story in the end. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 13:42, 11 July 2024 (UTC)
- Gerda Arendt, Thanks for your posts. I really enjoyed both stories about the Mozart Family Grand Tour and Liana Isakadze. I enjoyed reading about the family and Mozart's sister... and the courts, churches, and other places they visited and performed at over their tour. I've never read the detail about their grand tour, so that was quite fun and interesting. Ms. Isakadze is quite impressive.–CaroleHenson (talk) 19:12, 11 July 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you, - you can click on "story" every day ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 19:38, 11 July 2024 (UTC)
- I remember today Bach's 1724 cantata for this Sunday which is unusual in many respects. Another woman needs attention for RD, Marina Kondratyeva. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 19:23, 14 July 2024 (UTC)
- She's on the Main page now. My story today is - because of the anniversary of the premiere OTD in 1782 - about Die Entführung aus dem Serail, opera by Mozart, while yesterday's was - because of the TFA - about Les contes d'Hoffmann, opera by Offenbach, - so 3 times Mozart again if you click on "music" ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 11:41, 16 July 2024 (UTC)
- Today's story is about a photographer who took iconic pictures, especially View from Williamsburg, Brooklyn, on Manhattan, 9/11, yesterday's was a great mezzo, and on Thursday we watched a sublime ballerina. If that's not enough my talk offers the chamber music from two amazing concerts. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 10:36, 20 July 2024 (UTC)
- Wikipedia:Main Page history/2024 July 30b had a baritone, a violinist, a composer and a Bach cantata, - almost too much, and the composer's article, Wolfgang Rihm, improved much over the last days, could still grow. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:28, 31 July 2024 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of American Artists Professional League
editIf this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on American Artists Professional League, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Today I have three "musicians" on the Main page, one is also the topic of my story, like 22 July but with interview and the music to be played today -- Gerda Arendt (talk) 15:03, 8 August 2024 (UTC)
On 13 August, Bach's cantata was 300 years old, and the image one. The cantata is an extraordinary piece, using the chorale's text and famous melody more than others in the cycle. It's nice to have not only a recent death, but also this "birthday" on the Main page. And a rainbow in my places. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 12:55, 13 August 2024 (UTC)

Angela (slave)
editHello (sorry for taking so long). You reverted my move of Angela (slave), opting for (enslaved woman), citing Slavery#Terminology. I'm confused by this decision.
First, the terminology section itself describes the naming as "dispute". I thought the (slave) disambiguator would be a better choice due to WP:NOTCENSORED, similarly to changing "passed away" to "died".
Second, you only made this move for Angela. I can easily find other pages still using the (slave) disambiguator, including John Punch (slave), Abigail (slave), Fortune (American slave), William Gardner (former slave), John Brown (fugitive slave), William Grimes (ex-slave), William Green (former slave). You also didn't move Caesar (slave), which I based my move off of. The only other pages I could find using the (enslaved man/woman) disambiguator are Acme (enslaved woman), Ana Cardoso (enslaved woman) and Peter (enslaved man).
This definitely needs an official proposal. Roasted (talk) 21:13, 24 August 2024 (UTC)

Women in Green's "Around the World in 31 Days" GA Editathon – October 2024
editHello CaroleHenson:
WikiProject Women in Green is holding a month-long Good Article Edit-a-thon event in October 2024!
Running from October 1 to 31, 2024, WikiProject Women in Green (WiG) is hosting a Good Article (GA) edit-a-thon event with the theme Around the World in 31 Days! All experience levels welcome. Never worked on a GA project before? We'll teach you how to get started. Or maybe you're an old hand at GAs – we'd love to have you involved! Participants are invited to work on nominating and/or reviewing GA submissions related to women and women's works (e.g., books, films) during the event period. We hope to collectively cover article subjects from at least 31 countries (or broader international articles) by month's end. GA resources and one-on-one support will be provided by experienced GA editors, and participants will have the opportunity to earn a special WiG barnstar for their efforts.
We hope to see you there!

Back in 2021...
editYou edited List of enslaved people of Mount Vernon and added the following text:
- Christopher Steele was a house servant who after working many years, escaped the plantation, but return to Washington on his death bed.
I have been unable to find any references that mention this "Steele"... I did finally look up "who was present at Washington's death bed" and the name "Christopher Sheels" popped up... That must be who you meant! Mystery solved. - Shearonink (talk) 03:09, 18 November 2024 (UTC)
