Minor edits

edit

Thank you for your contributions. Minor edits consist of things such as typographical corrections, formatting changes or rearrangement of text without modification of content. Additionally, the reversion of clear-cut vandalism and test edits may be labeled "minor". Thank you. --John (talk) 20:06, 5 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

Hallo John, thank you. Most of my work will be in the German wikipedia, in English wikipedia only small contributions, because i speak German better than English. Greetings--Buchbibliothek (talk) 20:10, 5 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

Boßler Tunnel

edit

Hello Buchbibliothek, thank you for your contributions and welcome to en-Wiki. In addition to Narky Blert's kind offer you could also try to ask at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Germany, if you need assistance with Germany-related articles (the talkpage has been relatively quiet recently, but it's still worth a try). It would be great, if you could tag translated Germany-related articles with {{WikiProject Germany}} and a translation tag, see Talk:Boßler Tunnel as example. Feel free to ping me aswell, if you are stuck with any en-Wiki specific problems (en-Wiki and de-Wiki are quite different in my opinion, atleast in some aspects). Best regards. Qualitätsprobleme

edit

Hallo Buchbibliothek

Hello! Thank you for your recent contributions to Eschenbach (Göppingen). I did have one note for you. I am working on a maintenance project to clean up Category:Pages using infoboxes with thumbnail images. In the future, please do not use thumbnails when adding images to an infobox (see WP:INFOBOXIMAGE). What does this mean? Well in the infobox, when you specify the image you wish to use, instead of doing it like this: |image=[[File:SomeImage.jpg|thumb|Some image caption]], instead just supply the name of the image. So in this case you can simply do: |image=SomeImage.jpg. There will then be a separate parameter for the image caption such as |caption=Some image caption. Please note that this is a generic form message I am leaving on your page because you recently added a thumbnail to an infobox. The specific parameters for the image and caption may be different for the infobox you are using! Please consult the Template page for the infobox being used to see better documentation. Thanks!! Thanks for creating Udo Düllick, Buchbibliothek!

Wikipedia editor Liechtenstein96 just reviewed your page, and wrote this note for you:

Dear Buchbibliothek, I see u translated this from the German wiki, well done. I did some minor edits. Maybe one could point out more precisely what makes Udo special and why his life´s got an impact on today. One "Tipp": make sure u use the correct tenses and not a story-telling language-style.

Speedy deletion nomination of Knut Folkert

edit

Hello Buchbibliothek,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Knut Folkert for deletion, because it's too short to identify the subject of the article.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Cotton2 (talk) 23:27, 17 August 2016 (UTC)Reply

You left me a message about creating an article for Knut, for that I would use the WP:AFC process. Click on the link and provide the information you have, and substantial 3rd party references. The new article will replace the redirect. Good luck, Cotton2 (talk) 07:26, 18 August 2016 (UTC)Reply

Ways to improve Hermann Lisco

edit

Hi, I'm Sadads. Buchbibliothek, thanks for creating Hermann Lisco!

I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. In order for the article to be retained on English Wikipedia for the long term, the article needs to be referenced, to increase WP:Verifiability.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on my talk page. Or, for more editing help, talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse. Sadads (talk) 01:23, 4 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

Sandbox

edit

You can use your sandbox for all the projects you like. But you can't file your projects in mainspace categories, and any editor is allowed to remove the categories accordingly. Bearcat (talk) 18:09, 24 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

Please note that WP:IAR is not a license to just do anything you want — you have to make a credible case why "ignoring the rule" actually constitutes a net improvement to the encyclopedia. Articlespace categories are for articles, not user sandbox pages, and pages can never be left filed in categories that don't even exist to have pages filed in them — and it is not "improving the encyclopedia" to say that those rules can be broken just because IAR exists. There has to be a substantive reason why breaking the rule is constituting a benefit to the encyclopedia. Please also read Wikipedia:Ignoring all rules – a beginner's guide and Wikipedia:What "Ignore all rules" means for a bit more information on how IAR does and doesn't work. Bearcat (talk) 20:27, 24 September 2016 (UTC)Reply
Did you see that the categories were red? I would understand when the categories were blue. Since several weeks I work very busy for WP, so it is not good to work in my sandbox without giving a good explanation. (your explanations became better).Anyway, I removed the content from my sandbox to a word document and hope it will stay empty.--Buchbibliothek (talk) 20:49, 24 September 2016 (UTC)Reply
For a better work of me in enwiki in the future, is it a problem when there is a red category in the sandbox? Blue categories are not allowed, that is what i understand now. And why did you add the list of people again after i removed it?

Maybe I was not very friendly yesterday in the evening, but I was upset. Sorry (Suffering since years from health problems-depression). Regards from Germany--Buchbibliothek (talk) 08:39, 25 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

Different wikis can have different rules (just as an example, look at the way de: uses de:Kategorie:Kanadier as a comprehensive list of all Canadians regardless of whether they're also in occupational subcategories like de:Kategorie:Politiker (Kanada) — whereas we don't do it that way on en.) The question I'd have to ask is what would even be the point in maintaining category declarations that don't even exist on a sandbox draft? Sure, it's not technically causing the same harm that filing it alongside articles in real categories does — but what actual purpose would it actually serve? Bearcat (talk) 07:40, 29 September 2016 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the answer. It is good for me to know more now. --Buchbibliothek (talk) 07:46, 29 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

Translations

edit

I just reverted one of your additions as the English text did not make sense. Please convert Google translation output (or other means) into something that can be readable. As an example, here is a sentence, The birthplace of the saint, the so-called brother-Konrad-Hof -. A typical Rottaler Vierseithof, is one of a few

Also, birth/death dates in a list is different from German Wikipedia. Death is not († 1012), but (died 1012). Birth is not (* 1979), but either (1979) or (born 1979).

I can only write one language, bad English. So, thank you for adding/translating from German Wikipedia. I'm always jealous of those who can translate. Bgwhite (talk) 01:17, 30 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

Hi, thanks for your translation work; but this cannot be left to fester with its bad writing. That's a case where it would be good if you could alert someone on en.WP to the need to copyedit an article. Just slapping articles onto the site and leaving them is problematic. Tony (talk) 04:15, 30 September 2016 (UTC) You've been pinged at MOS talk, where I referred to the article as an example. I just wanted to express general encouragement for your efforts, and to say that it's only a coincidence that I've referred to your article there as an example of a systemic issue. Please talk with us if you have any questions or comments! My best. Tony (talk) 09:28, 30 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

Hello TONY , i started in dewiki in 2013 and in enwiki in 2016. I had to learn a lot, I translated too fast and too much, that was my mistake, another user told me this. So I made an excel file for my translated articles to see what i have to touch up. This article unfortunately did not find the way to my excel file. At the moment I add sons and daughters of the town to articles in enwiki about towns.

WikiProjekt Germany Template

edit

I came across a number of edits like this, where you removed class=Stub from the project template. All those I did come across where from July, so I don't know if you still do that. If you feel that an article is no longer a stub (Which after after you expanded the article is obviously the case - good work!) please update the classification to class=Start. That will help with keeping articles assessed. Thanks. Agathoclea (talk) 17:26, 6 December 2016 (UTC)Reply

Hello Agathoclea, thanks for your message, I did not know that (stub-start). Since a few weeks however, I make less translations and only add sons and daughters of the town, mayors, pictures.

Omitted quote in Kurt von Hammerstein-Equord?

edit

I noticed what appeared to be some vandalism in the article, a missing quote:

Helga, third child of Hammerstein, later reported, that her father told everbody, who wanted to hear it: [2]

In fact, many of his children had jewish acquaintances and supported jewish people. He did not refuse when some of his children gave files with political-military contents to the KPD. [12][13]

A colon like that implies a blockquote of some sort was intended to follow, perhaps a warning by Hammerstein of the danger of the Nazis, but there is nothing.

But tracing it in the history, it seems you merely forgot to include it in your original edit: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Kurt_von_Hammerstein-Equord&diff=next&oldid=730184649 Could you either add the quote or remove the citation? --Gwern (contribs) 16:23 2 March 2017 (GMT)

Hello, well I worked with dewiki and i took all three citations from dewiki, so i think it should be ok. However, i noticed my english is good, but not good enough to do such work. So now i do easier work, for example sons and daughters of the town. Regards--Buchbibliothek (talk) 17:03, 2 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

German Municipalities

edit

Hello, I've noticed that your userpage says you're German and you've made many edits to the articles for many small German municipalities. I've recently expanded the articles for a few by using Google Translate on German Wikipedia articles. I'd appreciate it if you could double-check my translation work, since I don't speak German myself. These are the articles I've worked on: Fußgönheim, Assenheim, and Hochdorf, Rhein-Pfalz-Kreis. They're all tagged with an "expand from German" template linking the originals. Thanks! - Degeno (talk) 04:20, 2 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hello Degeno, I wrote your post just right now. Please ask GünniX, he also helped me, he seems to be a good user, you can find him in the articles in edit history. Regards.--Buchbibliothek (talk) 07:42, 10 August 2017 (UTC)Reply
Hello Degeno, I checked your translations.
The translation "Ortsgemeinde" → "municipality" is not exact. Perhaps it is better to use "Ortsgemeinden ("local municipalities")" like in Maxdorf (Verbandsgemeinde).
In Hochdorf, Rhein-Pfalz-Kreis the translation "Marlach" → "Marlach river" is not exact. In the map it flows between a creek and a ditch. It should be something like that. There are some words like "Verwaltungsreform", which exists in the German wiki but not in the English wiki, so I don't know if the translation is good.
