Occasionally, situations will arise where it may seem logical to block an administrator. This may be for several reasons, such as abusiveness, lack of discussion, being too rogue, et cetera.
Blocking administrators does not work.
When administrators are blocked, non-issues often are escalated expeditiously and unnecessarily.
Case 1[1]: In this particular case, Naconkantari gravely misread the situation, which resulted in a high-speed thread on ANI, with people suggesting desysopping Naconkantari. Naconkantari has since left the project.
Case 2[2]: Here, two administrators were blocked for alleged wheel warring, although the wheel war was already de-escalating at the time of the blocks. The block rekindled tempers, and contributed significantly to the departure of JzG.
Case 3[3]: Krimpet blocked Neil for revoking the GFDL license on images that he uploaded and summarily deleting them. This was perhaps the best-case scenario when it comes to admin-blocking; Krimpet reversed her own block ([1]), and Neil accepted Krimpet's apology.
Blocking fellow administrators is poor form. Blocks should always be preventative, not punative. If at all possible, initiate discussion with the administrator in question, and attempt to resolve the situation peacefully.
