Basque Portal?
editKaixo, I'm contacting you because you figure in Category:User eu, meaning that you speak some Basque. You must therefore be Basque yourself or have an intense connection with the Basque Country.
I am thinking that maybe was a good idea to create a Portal (or maybe a Wikiproject? or both?) on the Basque theme but I feel such kind of project requires more than just one person.
If you are interested, please comment in my talk page.
Enjoy, --Sugaar 10:35, 4 November 2006 (UTC)

WikiProject Former Countries
editI would like to invite you back to WikiProject Former countries. You were previously a member of its former incarnation WP Historical States. The objective of this project is still to improve the content and accessibility of articles on former countries. A taskforce for the states of the Holy Roman Empire has also been started and the child project on Prussia has also been revived. This restart is still in its early days but it would be great to have you back. - 52 Pickup 18:51, 8 November 2006 (UTC)
Louis Penfield House
editNice work on Louis Penfield House. Hey, it's a Wright house that I could comfortably fit in! I was wondering if you recall your source for the statment of the cost of the restoration being $10,000? I used to live in the Cleveland area, and I could have sworn that I read something (perhaps in Timeline?) listing the cost as considerably more. $20,000 sticks in my mind, but I could be completely wrong. Image:Virgincola.jpg
editThanks for uploading Image:Virgincola.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the image description page and edit it to add
{{Replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. —Angr 22:12, 22 December 2006 (UTC)

You're... leaving?
editSorry to hear that you're leaving Wikipedia. The dissolution of Esperanza hurt everybody involved, not just you and me. We are all injured in terms of our sense of community and our editcount.
Things might change. For several times I've left Wikipedia but at last come back; because this "conservatory of knowledge" has so many defects that, being a scientist (or just a civilized person, anyways), I can't stand from correcting them wherever I could.
Really, not having a community of partners on Wikipedia doesn't matter. I don't have strong ones. The closest are Firsfron and Aili, which I contact them only, say, once a week or so at most.
Maybe you'll change your mind in the future =] Just focus on anything you feel comfortable in life and enjoy it. Wikipedia shouldn't be everything. We all welcome you to come back in the future.
Regards, --Deryck C. 10:19, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
- It can be really tough, when you're not feeling good about Wikipedia anymore. It totally makes sense that when something is no longer fun, one wouldn't want to spend time with it. If you do leave, I hope you have a lovely time elsewhere, but you might consider taking a break at first, and seeing how you feel when you come back. If you still feel like it's not worth it to be here, then you know what to do, but you might also be refreshed by some time away, and feel better about the encyclopedia. Regardless, I hope all goes well. -- Natalya 17:49, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
- Hi Tim, I saw your message on the Stress alerts page, and I thought I'd share my thoughts. Yes, now that Esperanza is gone, there isn't a central location for community, but I find that the community spirit still exists in a more diffuse form, centered around articles, Wikiprojects, and between users with shared interests. If you're seeking a sense of community, I suggest finding some topic that deeply interests you, and start working on articles within that topic, including interacting with users on related talk pages. You'd be surprised how quickly you rekindle that community spirit in this way.
- I can understand that you would want to leave if Wikipedia is only becoming a source of stress for you. Like Natalya, I suggest taking a break if my earlier ideas don't work out for you. I'm sure that you would be welcome to return if you take a short break, or even a long one. If you do choose to leave, I wish you well. --Kyoko 19:07, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
I read your note on the Stres Alert page. I've left and come back. My involvement has varied. Being part of Wiki doesn't have to be a big commitment. Just do what you want to do now and again. And if you ever want a chat and a nice cup of tea, then pop on over to my talk page. And bring some biscuits! Warm regards SilkTork 19:32, 14 April 2007 (UTC)
Association of Young Wikipedians
editFinally getting back to you. I've been kind of antisocial online too (that is, I've spent too much time working on the lonelygirl15 wiki) and haven't logged into Wikipedia for a while. I saw your message then, and I am still interested in the project. If you're still active or are staying inactive, message me. --silverBULLET(x3) 21:04, 9 March 2007 (UTC)
Esperanza didn't die, it was simply absorbed
editMost of the people from Esperanza are still here, as are most of the departments that were under the Esperanza umbrella.
If you miss the clique of folks who hung out and chatted there, you can endeavor to reunite them in an IRC chat room, or even on your own user talk page.
Or just join a new clique. Esperanza was a fun project, but Wikipedia is HUGE and has no scarcity of fun projects, nor does it lack fun people to collaborate with.
If you need help finding a fun project (not necessarily a WikiProject), let me know.
The Transhumanist 22:15, 4 May 2007 (UTC)
- I don't join cliques easily. I don't really like IRC since it leaves one's IP address exposed... I think I've functionally abandoned Wikipedia as a new content editor. Some things just can't be helped. -Tim Rhymeless (Er...let's shimmy) 04:46, 27 May 2007 (UTC)

AfD nomination of Danny Sveinson
editI've nominated Danny Sveinson, an article you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but in this particular case I do not feel that Danny Sveinson satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion; I have explained why in the nomination space (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and the Wikipedia deletion policy). Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Danny Sveinson (2nd nomination) and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of Danny Sveinson during the discussion but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion discussion. Thank you. Spartaz Humbug! 07:35, 6 July 2007 (UTC) annoying TW canned warning removed. The article was recreated after being deleted at VFD and shouldn't be recreated unless endorsed by DRV. The debate there petered out and it was recreated instead. By rights the article falls to be speedied as a recreation of a V/AFD deleted article but this one is significantly better then the version deleted at VFD. I have therefore sent it to AFD for further discussion. Spartaz Humbug! 09:21, 6 July 2007 (UTC)

Little context in NFL Properties
editHello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on NFL Properties, by AA (talk · contribs), another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because NFL Properties is very short providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles.
To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting NFL Properties, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Junak symbol.jpg
editThanks for uploading Image:Junak symbol.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 07:04, 1 January 2008 (UTC)

Hello fellow Wikipedia administrators open to recall category member! |
---|
I am leaving you this message because recent events have given me concern. When Aaron Brenneman and I, and others, first developed this category well over a year ago, we visualized it as a simple idea. A low hassle, low bureaucracy process. We also visualized it as a process that people would come to trust, in fact as a way of increasing trust in those admins who chose to subscribe to the notion of recall. The very informal approach to who is qualified to recall, what happens during it, and the process in general were all part of that approach. But recent events have suggested that this low structure approach may not be entirely effective. More than one of the recent recalls we have seen have been marred by controversy around what was going to happen, and when. Worse, they were marred by some folk having the perception, rightly or wrongly, that the admin being recalled was trying to change the rules, avoid the process, or in other ways somehow go back on their word. This is bad. It's bad for you the admin, bad for the trust in the process, and bad for the community as a whole. I think a way to address this issue is to increase the predictability of the process in advance. I have tried to do that for myself. In my User:Lar/Accountability page, I have given pretty concrete definitions of the criteria for recall, and of the choices I can make, and of the process for the petition, and of the process for other choices I might make (the modified RfC or the RfAr). I think it would be very helpful if other admins who have voluntarily made themselves subject to recall went to similar detail. It is not necessary to adopt the exact same conditions, steps, criteria, etc. It's just helpful to have SOME. Those are mine, fashion yours as you see fit, I would not be so presumptuous as to say mine are right for you. In fact I urge you not to just adopt mine, as I do change them from time to time without notice, but instead develop your own. You are very welcome to start with mine if you so wish, though. But do something. If you have not already, I urge you to make your process more concrete, now, while there is no pressure and you can think clearly about what you want. Do it now rather than later, during a recall when folk may not react well to perceived changes in process or commitment. Further, I suggest that after you document your process, that you give a reference to it for the benefit of other admins who may want to see what others have done. List it in this table as a resource for the benefit of all. If you use someone else's by reference rather than copy, I suggest you might want to do as Cacharoth did, and give a link to a specific version. Do you have to do these things? Not at all. These are suggestions from me, and me alone, and are entirely up to you to embrace or ignore. I just think that doing this now, thinking now, documenting now, will save you trouble later, if you should for whatever reason happen to be recalled. I apologise if this message seems impersonal, but with over 130 members in the category, leaving a personal message for each of you might not have been feasible, and I feel this is important enough to violate social norms a bit. I hope that's OK. Thanks for your time and consideration, and best wishes. Larry Pieniazek NOTE: You are receiving this message because you are listed in the Wikipedia administrators open to recall category. This is a voluntary category, and you should not be in it if you do not want to be. If you did not list yourself, you may want to review the change records to determine who added you, and ask them why they added you. |
...My guinea pigs and the "A"s through "O"s having felt this message was OK to go forward with (or at least not complained bitterly to me about it :) ), today it's the turn of the "P"s through "S"s! I'm hoping that more of you chaps/chapettes will point to their own criteria instead of mine :)... it's flattering but a bit scary! :) Also, you may want to check back to the table periodically, someone later than you in the alphabet may have come up with a nifty new idea. ++Lar: t/c 04:17, 7 January 2008 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Henry Hill (artist)
editA proposed deletion template has been added to the article Henry Hill (artist), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. I'm confused; you've created a non-article with a template related to deletion review. I'm going to delete it for now; if the consensus at Deletion Review is that it should be recreated, an administrator will recreate the page as it existed, and there'll be no need for anyone to rewrite it from scratch. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 02:07, 20 July 2008 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of The Rocket Summer
editA tag has been placed on The Rocket Summer requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for musical topics.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Horselover Frost (talk) 03:54, 8 October 2008 (UTC)
