Template talk:Scottish First Ministers

Latest comment: 6 years ago by Dunarc in topic Jim Wallace

Can the template include a little Scottish Saltaire (flag) after the text "Scottish First Minister"?

This template lists the heads of the Scottish Government it is just plain wrong to use the arms of the British Government on this template. --Barryob (Contribs) (Talk) 16:35, 5 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

The Scottish government is a 'sub-government' if you like to the British Government which has overall power above any other Government Level. Electrobe (talk) 16:37, 5 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Eh no its a devolved government and with controll over things that the UK government has no say so on. --Barryob (Contribs) (Talk) 16:39, 5 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

You need to pay more attention to politics theUk government has overall control of the Scottish Government. They are only allowed to exist because of the Uk Governments good will. Electrobe (talk) 16:41, 5 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

What on earth are you talk about, the UK government does not controll the Scottish Government. --Barryob (Contribs) (Talk) 16:47, 5 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Yes it does. The British Government created the Scottish Parliament just so that Scottish Nationlists (as I see you are on your user page) wouldnt go out rioting if they wanted to they could close your Scottish Parliament down in a second. Electrobe (talk) 16:48, 5 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Yes the UK government created the Scottish Parliament but that does not mean that they controll it the new template design is ugly and uses the entirely wrong arms. --Barryob (Contribs) (Talk) 16:51, 5 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

The New Template looks fine and its the correct coat of arms. The Coat of Arms of Her Majestys government now whether or not you consider the Scottish Parliament under the Uk Parliaments control it is still a section of, or, one of her Majesties many governments. Electrobe (talk) 16:58, 5 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Have you even read the Royal coat of arms of the United Kingdom page ? --Barryob (Contribs) (Talk) 16:59, 5 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
Yes and you being slow and not reading what I have written will not understand that the arms shown are not the royal arms but the Government Arms. Electrobe (talk) 16:24, 6 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
This template is about the head of the devolved Scottish Government NOT and I repeat NOT a member of Her Majesty's Government you are failing to take this in. --Barryob (Contribs) (Talk) 16:35, 6 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
No you are failing to read a word I have written. It doesnt matter what government it is they are all her Majestys Governments. I dont know how far your fews on Indeoendance go =, whether they reach to overthrowing the Monarchy at the moment hey are members of one of Her Majesty Elizabeth II's Governments. Electrobe (talk) 16:43, 6 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
Electrobe is suggest you read this [1] or more specifically the sentence The Scottish Government is the devolved administration for Scotland, dealing with all devolved issues independently of the UK Government. no one said the Scottish Government is not one of the Governments under Queen Elizabeth, I said its just plain idiotic to use the arms of the British Government in this template you may as well use the Australian arms or the Canadian ones as the are also Governments of Queen Elizabeth, And I take you haven't read Royal coat of arms of the United Kingdom ecause if you did you would see Scotland has its own Coat of arms seeing as you are not willing to accept that you have been proven wrong I will be taking this to WP:AIV as you are just vandalising the template now--Barryob (Contribs) (Talk) 16:51, 6 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

There we go again not listening. I never said that there weren't different royal for Scotland I am telling you there are no special arms for the government of Scotlands specific use. They use the same arms as everbody else. AND PLEASE READ THIS PROPALRY THIS TIME. Electrobe (talk) 16:54, 6 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Coat of arms...

edit

OK; the Royal coat of arms should not be used, because it is wrong. Rather than revert-warring over it, Electrobe, read this page. Your last edit summary, that it "should be left the way you want it while discussion happens", is wrong. The cycle is change, revert, discuss. TreasuryTagtc 17:42, 6 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Does nobody understand? Look closely there not rhe royla arms there the governments arems if you dont believe me look it up yourelf. Electrobe (talk) 17:47, 6 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
You're not listening to what people are saying. The Scottish Executive is not part of the government. I know that they are the arms used by the Queen, the Prime Minister, the Home Office and so on. But the Scots are a separate authority. Do you understand now? TreasuryTagtc 17:53, 6 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
I understand so stop talking about the royal coat of arms. Electrobe (talk) 10:29, 7 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
Please be civil. The Scottish Executive is not part of the government, the monarchy or anything similar. That coat of arms should NOT be used AT ALL. TreasuryTagtc 12:12, 7 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Jim Wallace

edit

Should Jim Wallace's two brief spells as acting First Minister (after the the sudden death of Donald Dewar in 2000 and then after the resignation of Henry McLeish in 2001) not be noted in the template. Obviously he would need to be noted as acting, but it seems worth adding. Dunarc (talk) 15:43, 26 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

I have now changed to reflect this, but would be happy to discuss further.Dunarc (talk) 22:51, 2 September 2018 (UTC)Reply
