Hello fellow Wikipedians,

I have just added archive links to one external link on Tharparkar District. Please take a moment to review my edit. If necessary, add {{cbignore}} after the link to keep me from modifying it. Alternatively, you can add {{nobots|deny=InternetArchiveBot}} to keep me off the page altogether. I made the following changes:

Massive removal of content

edit

Please discuss removal of some of the contents here on the talk page. I dont agree with the removal without any justification in the edit summary. I feel that the article though needs a lot of improvement, but removal of reliable information should not be done without discussing it here. --DBigXray 10:33, 12 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

Request to merge this page into Tharparkar

edit

Since, both Tharparkar District and Tharparkar refer same region so I would request the admin to merge this page into Tharparkar. --Vikram Nankani (talk) 14:13, 14 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

Moved from User talk:DBigXray/Archive2019 2#Page merge request

Kindly merge "Tharparkar District" into "Tharparkar" --Vikram Nankani (talk) 14:14, 14 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

Vikram Nankani, Thanks for the kind request on my talk page. Normally on wikipedia, we keep the district article and District headquarter article into 2 separate articles. It makes sense to merge only when there is no seperate Tharparkar city or geographic entity. After a quick google search it appears to me that Mithi is the headquarter of the district. I dont know if there is a Tharparkar city or not. but a Tharparkar (disambiguation) exists which calls Tharparkar article as a region of Sindh. If the boundaries of the Tharparkar District and the Tharparkar region are exactly same only then should be merge the two. So before I proceed, I would like to hear back from both of you. User:Uanfala Do you have any suggestion/opinion on the above request ? regards --DBigXray 15:45, 14 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
DBigXray, there is none other Tharparkar city or any other geographical region or location with similar name. Also you can confirm this by land area of region specified in both pages. Also check this report(which refers about Thar region) available in references of Tharparkar which is exactly similar to this report (which clearly specifies name as Tharparkar). Hope these references are sufficient to know that both refer same region. --Vikram Nankani (talk) 16:05, 14 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

Thar is the title of region since beginning. During or after bifurcation of Thar(Pakistani Thar region) in 1990, Tharparkar title (formally) came in more use. However, till date many legal or official documents[1] refer or use both names i.e. Thar and Tharparkar for referring the Tharparkar district.--Vikram Nankani (talk) 16:28, 14 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

  • Vikram Nankani, thank you for your kind explanation. As you asked, do you want to merge Tharparkar district into Tharparkar or vice versa. Normally the District articles are kept. I feel vice versa should be done. --DBigXray 12:07, 15 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
  • The two articles were created at largely the same time, but the district one is where all of the content is as well as the relevant recent page history, so I'd go for preserving that. In my opinion, it's then best to rename the article to Tharparkar as the least common denominator of the region and the district. – Uanfala (talk) 12:53, 15 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
  • I agree with both of you i.e. merging Tharparkar into Tharparkar District and further renaming Tharparkar District to Tharparkar. Many district articles have the headquarter with same name so differentiating them becomes inevitable with type of administrative division as suffix. Similarly, when two administrative units have same name we postfix additional name or word to it like in Punjab. But here since no other region or location in the world has similar name, district is implicit and also it will be short(SEO-friendly). --Vikram Nankani (talk) 14:32, 15 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
Done User:Uanfala and Vikram Nankani, I have completed the merge and rename. Feel free to update and change the content if I missed something. --DBigXray 10:13, 16 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

Tilted images reverted

edit

@Vikram Nankani: Hello, I see that you've reverted my edits which included fixing the tilt in these two images:

Please review. I think the non-tilted images are easier on the eyes and better for the article. Thanks. // sikander { talk } 🦖 01:42, 15 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

I have now replaced those with your cropped images. Thanks --Vikram Nankani (talk) 03:12, 15 November 2019 (UTC)Reply
