Dubious material removed

He was Chairman of Worldcom[1], a US company which was charged with 11 Billion dollars accounting fraud in 2002 and its Chief Executive, Bernie Ebbers sent to jail for 25 years. There is no mention of his tenure with Worldcom in this biographical page.

Above was added by an anonymous editor without comment. The source cited does not give a date, but seems like it might be from 2002? Looking at other sources, such as the WorldCom official SEC reports, it seems clear that Bert C. Roberts Jr. was chairman of that WorldCom from 1997 to 2002, then John Sidgmore for five months, then Michael Capellas. No mention of this person in that company's filings, so my guess is that it was some other entity that also used that name (perhaps with the "C" not capital?). Hard to tell, but liability rules say when in doubt, remove from a living person's bio until there is more reliable evidence. ...

Ah, what it appears to be is a typo for WorldTel, and sources do indicate Pitroda was chairman of that. It had its own scandals, but Pitroda might have been more of a victim. Probably bears a mention here at some point. But not close to WorldCom! W Nowicki (talk) 16:59, 9 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

In 1983, he designed a computer-themed card game called Compucards which used binary numbers instead of decimal (1, 2, 4, 8...) and had a computer bug as the joker. The equivalent of a king in a regular deck of cards was the 'Programmer' that bore an uncanny resemblance to Pitroda. Through the 1990s Pitroda developed mobile phone transaction technology and telecom in emerging markets.[citation needed]

This one is even worse, with no source ever cited at all. Note that Compucard talks about something totally different. So my guess is that it might have been a joke? W Nowicki (talk) 16:51, 9 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

Please refer to the News article in Chicago Tribune dated 1983 which mentions about Compucards. Sam.pitroda (talk) 06:42, 16 January 2015 (UTC)Reply
