Surely George Best should be included? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.41.19.137 (talk) 18:06, 27 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

On what grounds? Jmorrison230582 (talk) 18:36, 27 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

On the grounds he played for Hibernian from 1979 - 1980 and is a notable player for them. see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Best

Sure, George Best was a great player. But he did not do anything of note with Hibs. There are no grounds for including him that would not also lead to including hundreds of other players. Jmorrison230582 (talk) 18:24, 23 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

I disagree. Ask any Hibs supporter to name 5 legendary Hibs players and they would mention George Best as one. From an outsiders point of view I understand that you may not appreciate that, however the very signing of Best to Hibs was a historic moment and therefore notable. I don't think a single signing of any other player for the club was a notable as this one and so no, including Best would not lead to the inclusion of hundreds of other players. In fact any Hibs supporter or historian viewing this list would be asking why Best was not included. Surely you agree that Hibernian supporters should be the ones that decide who is or who is not, notable for their club? Perfectly happy for you to disagree with a counter argument. Debate is welcome on Wikipedia.

All of that is your subjective opinion. There isn't an objective fact to support it. The bottom line is he played half-a-season for an awful Hibs team that got relegated by a mile (1979–80 Scottish Premier Division). Jmorrison230582 (talk) 19:49, 23 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

[Seems like I didn't do this at the time, over 2 years ago] - I suggest that the existing Internationals section could be moved to its own article, since the Appearances list is fine on its own and there are international lists for Celtic, Queens Park and Rangers within Scottish football; the same suggestion could be made for Aberdeen and Hearts, but those clubs' Players articles don't already have a list of internationals like Hibs. Neutral on whether the name would be better suffixed as 'footballers' per Celtic and Rangers, or 'players' per Queens Park (the category on the subject has both as well as 'internationals', personally I'm less keen on that one).
