Nationality
editShould it not say British next to nationality? Nationality is to do with the sovereign state you legally belong to, not the constiuent country. 82.1.157.16 (talk) 23:05, 19 February 2010 (UTC)
- Dangerous territory... You are strictly correct. But you might get a different answer from the person concerned! The trouble is that England, Wales, Scotland are countries within a country, all due to a complex unwritten constitution. FWIW, that's why the Government back tracked at the last census in 2001, and allowed people to specify their nationality - as a tick box for British or use a text box (and a lot used it to put English, Welsh, Scottish into it) (I put English) Ronhjones (Talk) 23:12, 19 February 2010 (UTC)
Well on his passport it would say British Citizen. Wouldn't it just be a lot simpler if it said all UK residents' nationalities were British, regardless of what they consider themselves, as oppossed to having half the articles saying English, Scottish etc. and half of them saying British? It is quite clear from the article that the person considers themselves Welsh anyway. 82.1.157.16 (talk) 23:59, 19 February 2010 (UTC)
- Please read Wikipedia:Nationality of people from the United Kingdom. As you say, it is quite clear from the article that the person considers themselves Welsh. The infobox should reflect what is in the article. Further, it is quite unnecessary to include UK after Wales in place of birth. I will change them back.
