editWell then, looks like this is a project waiting to happen. Check out Gansu, China. I put some work into that one, adding links and such, because I found it with "random page". That page should be incorporated into this one. There's a lot of good information in Gansu, China, and it's certainly more friendly. I'll work on it, but if anyone wants to help... --Iwonderandiwander 22:47, 31 Jan 2005 (UTC)
- You are right, that page should be incorporated into this one... you probably should have done so instead of working on it there. Wikipedia should not have two different articles on the same topic. If you want to work on something privately, you can put it under your own user-space, for instance you could create an article at User:Iwonderandiwander/Gansu, and then copy it to Gansu when you're ready. -- Curps 05:34, 1 Feb 2005 (UTC)
In the meantime you might want to look at Wikipedia:WikiProject Chinese provinces. -- ran (talk) 04:06, Feb 1, 2005 (UTC)
Thanks for saying it is more friendly because I wrote all the base info. I hope that somebody incorparates it with that other one because I am to busy.
Labrang Monastery
editSomeone needs to put something in that section or take it away. "Labrang Monastery..." is NOT a section.
Etymology
editRemoved unsourced claim
- The name derives from Uighur kang ("wide") and su ("water"), which loosely translates as "place of water resources"
from lede as the combined province explanation further down is much more common. If there is cite for this, great, but don't leave it in lede without mentioning more common etymology. — LlywelynII 05:09, 17 September 2011 (UTC)

"landlocked"?....
editThe first sentence of the intro had emphasized that this province was "landlocked." While technically true, this strikes me as rather odd to emphasize in the first sentence of the intro of an article about a sub-national entity. The [Colorado]] article, for example, doesn't mention the state lacking a coastline, and I don't believe any of the articles on US states mention it in their first sentence. Being "landlocked" is more relevant for sovereign independent states than subdivisions thereof. -2003:CA:872F:268C:F4D1:7329:A842:E715 (talk) 13:02, 18 September 2022 (UTC)
